Fitting Tyres
I have mismatched tyres on my RMR and they feel particularly useless in the usually wet conditions here in the UK so I intend to buy and a fit a matching pair. I have found some well priced continental tyres on ebay, they are the Go tyres which are a good all round commuting tyre with decent levels of grip in the wet and high mileage...just what I need then.
Next I need to fit the tyres. Now I've never fitted tyres on a motorcycle but I have fitted tyres to a tubed bicycle. Do I need specialist tools beyond a decent tyre iron to do this myself or is it really difficult and best left to a specialist?

Re: Fitting Tyres
its the least fun thing you can do with lube and rubber and baby powder
get it done in a shop if you can

Re: Fitting Tyres
ok I think its a trip to the shop then, I'll have a go at most things but it seems a false economy to struggle with something like this when I have a tyre shop just down the road

Re: Fitting Tyres
The bloke in that video makes it seem easier than it is in practise! Just breaking the bead and re-seating it after can be difficult. It may be an idea to give it a go though when you get the new tyres, just practise on an old one a couple of times so you have the ability if caught out offroad with a puncture on a long rainy trip! But then if you don't carry all the axle tools and tubes and repair kit including three levers, valve core tool, high pressure pump, windex, baby powder etc etc, it may be best to join RAC or AA! Southampton is not exactly the outback eh?
