New Member from the UK got Shineray wants a Chang Jiang!
Hi to you all
What an interesting Forum this is.
I have recently bought a Shineray/Arrows XY250GY-2 and I love it so much, looks brilliant and is exciting to ride. I have now been reading alot about Chinese bikes, I would really like to buy a Chang Jiang CJ750 sidecar and import it back to the UK, anyone have any ideas1
Thanks

Re: New Member from the UK got Shineray wants a Chang Jiang!
yeah gidday welcome aboard the crAzY MCM bus... er bike...
about your bike, here the unofficial policy is that words are like vapour, what counts the most is pictures. So post up some photos of your bike so as not to be just some eVapour ware. No pics, and it doesn't exist.
About the CJ750, why would you want to... sure they look all nice especially some that have all the bling... but personally they are real POS! I know I ride one from time to time. It belongs to a German mate (also a neighbour). He's offered it to me for 5000 kuai, no thanks! They are crap IMO. Look nice though, all nostalgic like.
Anyway if you type in CJ750 or Changjiang etc either directly into the MCM search window (near top right of the webpage) or else type the same search terms into Google and add mychinamoto you will likely find more relevant posts. There are numerous companies that specialise in ripping off... oopps, I mean selling CJ750's and arranging export etc. But again, why? There are way better options for an outfit... IMO.
Welcome aboard, tickets pleAse...

Hey welcome aboard, another Southampton biker terrific, I'm out in Hedge End and recently picked up a 650NK, enjoy the new bike
Re: New Member from the UK got Shineray wants a Chang Jiang!
Thanks Choldy, the 650NK looks great, how is it? Im surprised how many people from the UK are here!
Re: New Member from the UK got Shineray wants a Chang Jiang!
Bearmac, your better off getting a Ural or Dnepr or the Cossack branded variants in the UK easier to get parts plus they were officially imported for abit buiild quality is never the best on these bikes but are built like tanks most people just swap in a BMW engine for more reliability and power.

Kennon. Thanks for your advice. I have looked at the Russian sidecars. They are great but seem difficult to get secondhand. Also I like the history of the CJ, very interesting.

Re: New Member from the UK got Shineray wants a Chang Jiang!
CJ's are cool bigger CC's but I think the Russian history has more to it as there's no real source on how they got the designs I prefer the story that Denmark under protection of Germany sold two to Russia under the table and they were reverse engineered then worried that the Moscow factory would be bombed they moved the factory to the Ural mountains in the same region where the all weapons we're built, when I went to Russia last summer in the former secret Soviet city of Izhevsk saw tons of Urals in the mountains one that was a true Ural M1 WW2 bike still running, there is a non sidecar Ural 650 on gumtree for £900.

Yes, I like that story too. Must admit the Russian bikes are cool, especially the dual wheel drive ones, its a shame we cant use them in the UK. I spend a lot of time in Ukraine and the 2wd Dnepr is still made in Kiev.
Will look at gumtree.
Cheers
