Re: Bike Night Beijing -Tuesdays-
Dear Beijing comrades,
I'm in Beijing for a couple days and will pitch up at Back Alley on Tuesday evening at the appointed hour. Seems the regular meeting time is at best a low-grade buzz, but I'll be happy to raise a glass to anyone who shows up!
(I've double posted here and in the long-running No Bike Night thread, which has the wrong location in its title!)
Cheers!

Re: Bike Night Beijing -Tuesdays-
I'll try to be there.... depending on the weather.
Re: Bike Night Beijing -Tuesdays-
Last few weeks has been rain - current forecast is clear by Tuesday night. I will also try to make it. Summer holiday months, though ... hordes of overseas visitors.

Re: Bike Night Beijing -Tuesdays-
Bike Night was an open air affair last night in Beijing, and I was privileged to meet Fahni and Shuben for the first time. Those of us who stayed long enough were treated to a genuine Beijing hutong gang fight, which caused quite a stir. Three participants sulked through our al fresco dining room outside the Back Alley Bistro, shirtless and bleeding from many wounds, and carrying various weapons -- no guns, thankfully -- and seeming bent on revenge. Soon enough, the battle spilled back into the street, with impressing smashing of beer bottles over various participants' heads. Hopefully the beer will have cleansed some of their wounds. Twenty minutes later the cops arrived, and an ambulance. And the various food purveyers swept all the bloodied shards of glass into a goodly heap.
A beautiful and ironically memorable night in Beijing! Thanks to all!

Re: Bike Night Beijing -Tuesdays-
Great to reconnect with you Mr Euph. Glad you came out.
The late-night, table-side entertainment is one of the many ways we provide guests from other cities with a uniquely Jing'r experience. Those of us who live here, and have seen many similar floor shows, generally depart with our valuable bikes before the fun begins. And, of course, some of us old farts simply need to get home for our next tablespoon of Geritol.
And, given the ne'er ending friendly competition between Shanghai & Beijing, here is my Jing'r dig ...
So, what happens in Shanghai? Do the boys swing their girlfriends' purses at each other? I've been led to believe that Shanghai boys have the purses permanently attached to their arms. Or maybe it is the dominant girlfriends that get into the fray? Just curious.
Again, great to see you here - drop by more often!

as a native chinese, it's so fun to see a lao wai get interesting to this long fight of two most evil cities in this central empire land.
basically i guess the boy carries the girl's purse means he will pay all her bill :) very bold
