well, I read thru all 3 books that came with the bike. While it mentions changing the oil and filter, it never gives a filter part number! Nope, not even in the parts book! Anyone know what japanese filters will fit? the engine model is ZS172FMM. THANKS!

for record the xf200 200cc motorcycle the hi-flow K&N-131 fits perfectly.
i know this is a totally different bike. but there is a chance it fits your machine.
i looked for a while online and could not find one listed. i would recommend taking yours to a motorcycle dealership and they will be able to give you a match by visualization i would think. might have to try more than one. that would not be surprising.
but i did find this really cool slip on pipe for the zongshen 250 gs for you if interested from a company out of florida. they appear be a bulk dealer but maybe they know what filter fits. and they speak english. bonus.

I second Volksjagger's idea. If you have a ZongShen then it's likely the engine is Honda based. There are only so many types of filters around so if you take it to you local dealer they may be able to help you match it up. After you know the correct part number/cross-reference then it's no problem to order from elsewhere if you want.

I have a parts book for a Zongshen 250GS. It only shows a cleanable oil filter screen, not an throw-away element.
