The end of Jiaoji Lu bike market
Will be out of the country for a bit, and was in the Jiaoji Lu bike market to buy some cheap original Ducati parts :icon10: to bring for my friends.
However, several shops are closed already, all others were packing, and there was a notice on the wall that the place will be gone by the 28th of this month.
Not sure if to shed a tear on that.
I was there the first time in 2000, and nothing has changed / improved.
It just got dirtier and dirtier, and a bigger mess then ever before.
I heard they will move to an other place, but don't know where.
Really hope it will be a better one.
E.

G'Day,
Map attached for anyone planning to head out to the Jiaoji Road market for the last time and doesn't know where to go.......
Re: The end of Jiaoji Lu bike market
Only guys I care about up there are Mister and Missus Muffler Man and their neighbor Mister Red Egg Guy, who rides a beautiful Suzuki. Do hope they land on their feet. I'll post if I find out anything more...
cheers!
Re: The end of Jiaoji Lu bike market
I went there for bike repairs for years, always to the same two mechanics. Each time was a process of negotiation, and you had to watch very closely as the mechanic did the work. Last time I went I had a new (to me) bike, and someone decided to remove all the bolts on one of the front brake rotors. I rode for 2 kilometers with the bike like that before I figured out what was wrong. Scared me so much I have not been back since. I know that not all the mechanics there are like that, but one was enough.
It was fun to wander around inside there to look at all the crazy scooters and fake parts. We can still buy all the stuff from Taobao if we want though. I'll be going there this weekend to see if there's any sales going on, though I doubt it. I will miss the upholstery place, you could get your entire seat redone (albeit in poor quality foam and vinyl) for less than 50 RMB.

Mr. J,
If you go there, can you pls. bring some name cards of the "better" upholstery shops.
I need a saddle to be re-shaped and recovered, but will not make it before they are gone there.
If I can call them after I am back, I can locate them on the new location.
Thx!!!

Great idea -- gather up business cards for the businesses we've found to be good, then share the names and mobile numbers here in MCM. The better ones surely will land on their feet somewhere.
cheers!

G'Day,
Have a mate coming from overseas in March and he needs some parts (carbs, sprockets, etc) for mini kids off road bikes, etc.
Any news about the new "bike parts / scooter market" location yet?
