another new hello from Beijing
Hello ,
i've just recently moved to Beijing,
and although it does appear to be relatively mad and overly expensive
I may just be considering getting a bike while i'm here in Beijing, there are
a great many threads of useful info it seems which hi-light the fact that it's not easy
not cheap and more dangerous and yet,,,, having always had a bike (i've left 5 behind in canada in storage)
i find i'm considering it anyway...
meanwhile - hello and thanks for this great forum
marc
Re: another new hello from Beijing
Welcome. Once a rider ... forever a rider. How true...
Re: another new hello from Beijing
Welcome! I'd like to join your hello even though it's my third year in BJ i'm pretty new to this forum.
Re: another new hello from Beijing
welcome marc . Just do it !
Re: another new hello from Beijing
so , what are the best spots to hunt for bikes ? aside from these forums ?
first off - i'm freakishly tall (2M or 6'8'')- so bikes like my 955i Triumph tiger - or a big twin bagger
fit me best - i'm afraid i'd look like a trained circus bear on the 150cc stuff i see all over
the place - but those bikes would be a little big for Beijing streets -
thoughts ? recommendations ? (even bad jokes will work )

My friend JollyG known as The pope on this forum is just as tall as you, he rides a cheap CQR250 Dual sport which seems to fit him fine, it's really tall... also you may want to look at the euro spec JH600 and the Shineray X5
Re: another new hello from Beijing
Welcome marcrbeaudry & k.velve
Another MCM member, Barry, is also a giant - rides a Shineray X2 and the European JH600. He likes them both, as far as I know.
PS: All you fellow Canucks ... Beijing's ice hockey season is starting soon (there is a Canadian team). Supposedly "light contact" but that is about as truthful as "Beijing traffic congestion is improving." Hence, a good place to vent frustrations about living in China. Embassy has details. There used to also be a pick-up street hockey club - don't know if it is still around - Embassy will know, as it used to sponsor it on the road behind it.

Welcome Marc
The Shineray xy250gy-2 is 980mm seat height. That is a little higher than most dual sport bike of that engine size.
