Dopey question from a new by!
OK, just taken delivery of my new Apache - in GREEN!
My first question, how do you get the seat off?
I don't want to force it off, I can 't see a way of doing it yet.
I'm bound to have more questions but for the moment just the seat.
Sorry to be such a numpty!
I can't do much a the moment as it' s pouring down so haven't really even had a good look around the bike yet, we've just got over those high winds they promised and it was delivered this afternoon after coming all the way from Oldham, the driver explained a few things but was in a hurry to get back, not his fault there is no handbook with it (poor) but there you go.
Thanks in anticipation, Robin.
Re: Dopey question from a new by!
Tell them to email you a handbook mate
Re: Dopey question from a new by!
Not sure about this bike specifically but there is often a bolt coming up from under the rear guard into the seat
Re: Dopey question from a new by!
Thanks to the two of you, I think there are a couple of bolts under the seat, I'll look when it's light out.
Re: Dopey question from a new by!
Put the key in the side panel and turn it, then without removing the panel, just lift it a little bit at the key-end. Now you have access to pull the cable to open the seat. Pull it, push the panel back and lock it. Once you are done with the seat, just pop it back in place... Actually if you are careful, you don't even need to put the key in the side panel. You could pull the cable just by putting a finger in the panel from the side where the cable is located.

Really, I haven't had a chance to look around the bike yet, will look tomorrow morning, thanks for that.
Robin.

Robin.
I can't see anywhere the key can go, there are only two screws holding the side panels on and nowhere for the key to go?
Is it any particular side?
Thanks.
Robin.
Re: Dopey question from a new by!
Seat comes off once you remove the side panel screws, most electrical connections ok but plastic protective covers not pushed home to cover them, wd40'd everything electrical, the screws are crap and will mash easily, the dealer had already started one of the side panel screw heads mashing.
Tool kit box is excellent, tools crap, don't use them, replace, I have replaced with some Honda tools I kept after selling my VTR Firestorm.
First thing to do would be to get a replacement screw set, probably from eBay, to replace all screws on the bodywork, possibly, the engine screws will last, they look ok, depends on the quality of the metal, still though, all in it looks quite well built and I'd say is comparable to the Jap bikes I've had?
