Re: need help bike runs in neutral and first perfect
Try this.
Bypass the neutral/gear indicator switch (Google for info about your specific bike) and see if your 2nd gear problem goes away.

I had a similar problem, it was the kickstand cut-off safety switch that was faulty, just bypass that shit by twisting the wires together and throwing that bloody switch away, also the clutch safety switch, get rid of that too... should fix your problem

Welcome to MCM. When you have a moment post some info about you and your ride under the introductions section. As to your question, some specific info on bike make, model etc would go a long way, to getting some of us regular MCM'ers helping you out...
Re: need help bike runs in neutral and first perfect
I am thinking of your choke, possibly...maybe you have it pulled up in half choke? Now that it has been getting colder around here, I have been half-choking my bike when I start it up, and get out on the road for nearly a mile/km. It lets me know it needs to be opened up when I roll on the throttle by sputtering, etc.
But like Doc said-let us know what kind of bike you are riding and what brand/model and engine size.
