Pulse Adrenaline 125 speedo not working

Hi folks,

Another mini challenge has befallen me.

While out on my last ride, I glanced down at the dash and saw that my speedometer was reading 0 at all speeds. The mileometer is also not gaining miles (or kilometres, or whatever it reads in).

I've checked the speedo cable and it appears to be well seated at both ends.

Can you guys think of any diagnostics I can undertake to try and narrow down the problem before I start replacing random stuff? I guess there could be issues with the speedo drive on the wheel itself, with the cable underneath the sheath, or with the display unit...but I have no idea which.

Any ideas welcomed! It was not a gradual descent of poor readings and intermittent working, it was a sudden and complete failure.

Try replacing the cable, maybe be seated but maybe broke?

Yep, try turning it from one side and see if it turns on the other. Or, grab one of the ends and pull - if it's broken, you'll pull out one of the pieces.

Well, I've narrowed it down a bit.

Giving the cable a quick spin from the bottom end, it's showing a small reading on the speedometer. So at least that bit works! Bad news now I guess is that I need to take the speedo gear drive off the front wheel and see if it's broken...then perhaps get a new one.

Just to let you know - got this sorted. Replaced the speedo drive on the front wheel, and all is now well.
