Bying a bike in Beijing

Hi,

I'm new to the forum but have been lurking around here for a few weeks.

I have, like many before me, decided that it will be a much better use of time and money to ride back home to Europe this summer than just taking a plane.
Therefore, I will need a new bike here in Beijing. I have been looking at different options and decided that I would rather go with an imported dual sports bike like BMW F800GS, Kawasaki KLR650 or Yamaha xt660z than the Chinese ZongShen RX3 or Shineray X5.

On Taobao, there seems to be plenty of these, especially the F800GS, at reasonable prices, but are they legal and is it possible to register these?

I tried contacting beijingriders.com but no reply, so can any of you recommend someone or a shop in Beijing that can assist in getting and registering a second-hand bike?

Be careful. I called several sellers about the F800GS and several other bikes and every time I called a seller it turned out to be a smuggled motorcycle. They all tried to sell me on the fact that there are Chinese look a likes and they could have it plated and registered as the look a like and I would be fine. I did not have the guts to try though. I am not saying you can't get them I am just saying be extra careful it is not smuggled.
