TMEC 125-1 Air Filter and Re-Jet?
Greetings everyone!
Before now I've had a Superbyke RMR 125 which was unfortunately stolen last September, but have since gone and bought another chinese bike in the last few weeks, a TMEC 125-1. Picked it up for 360 GBP with 700 miles on the clock.
The only modifications i've made so far is replaced the lights with LED equivalents, removed a painful indicator noise that sounds much like a lorry reversing, and before purchase it has had the chain replaced.
So far i've been rather disappointed with it's torque as opposed to my RMR, it seems to fly through the gears, but lacks a lot of top end in comparison.
Firstly I intend to ensure that the exhaust is sealed properly as I have noticed rust where the pipe connects to the can, and it also seems far too loud for a standard can at present, so am hoping fixing the compression with some exhaust putty would help a lot with the top end.
The next job I have planned however is to fit a new air filter and re-jet the carb, i've got a pretty basic understanding of it all after cleaning out the carb when I bought the bike, just to ensure it was all clean as it had been sat in a garage for 6 months. This is the air filter i'm looking at; http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Honda-Kawasaki...#ht_2675wt_911
and the size of the jet I was thinking, is to go up to 105.
The only problem I have is that the standard box filter seems to have lots of small pipes out of it connecting onto the engine, and I'm just a bit concerned as to what these pipes are for, and would love it if any of you could help me out here?
Many thanks!

Re: TMEC 125-1 Air Filter and Re-Jet?
Hmm, it seems you have some kind of emission regulation hacks there. They do those in order to pass emission regulations. It seems yours pull additional air inside the engine, making the exhaust less strong and as a consequence making your bike run lean because of the extra air. There should be only one air intake for your engine, the carburator. So you should seal firmly all other air intakes to the engine. BEWARE HOWEVER: By all means I am not an expert, wait for some expert to confirm this before doing anything based on what I say.
(I am myself having air filter challenges now too, today was preparing my bike for about 700km journey which would possibly ended up to be 1000km journey. Then chose to check what maintenance I can do to the air filter, but when I saw the air filter design I had to cancel my journey at once. I have been told that it is not as bad as it looks, but I wont do any serious driving before I have improved it.)

the Gear ratio on these bike never suits UK's case. Pls play the "Sprockets" game:thumbsup:

Re: TMEC 125-1 Air Filter and Re-Jet?
Many thanks for the swift replies!
Going to have a much more in depth look at the air filter system when I have a day off on Saturday to see how if it fits your description and will keep this thread up to date!
And with the sprockets, I took this into consideration before but havn't had the time yet to see what ratio it is currently running, but again, if I get the time on Saturday I will most certainly look more into depth on this to see what it is at present.
Will keep you all up to date :)

Re: TMEC 125-1 Air Filter and Re-Jet?
those pipes your talking are also attached to the egr (exhaust gas recycling valve ) and they are there for the emissions i have just brought one also
on another note where do you guys get spares for these

Re: TMEC 125-1 Air Filter and Re-Jet?
You'll have a crank-case vent pipe going into your air box. This allows any combustion gasses that make it past the piston rings to escape from the crankcase and be recirculated through the carb again. Put a small filter on that line. You may also have a pipe going to a secondary air injection system that injects air into the exhaust manifold on idle. Again, slap a small filter on that pipe if you detach it from your airbox.

Re: TMEC 125-1 Air Filter and Re-Jet?
Since ive had my tmec 125 instead of trying to chase the dealer up for exspensive and time consuming parts e.g - 4 weeks for a speedo cable :/ i just take the parts off the bike and go to my local mixed dealership - yamaha, suzuki, honda and ask them to match parts up.... dont get nothing done unless you do it yourself to be honest :) but has anyone done a exhaust change and air filter change to aftermarket performance ones?? as i would like to know how the bike goes after these mods have been done :) any replys would be great guys and also thanks in advance

Re: TMEC 125-1 Air Filter and Re-Jet?
just something ive noticed on this ebay page that you are going to buy 4 air filters for a single carb single cylinder bike better off searching for a gs125 or gn 125 air filter as long as the boot is the right sive your laughing

Re: TMEC 125-1 Air Filter and Re-Jet?
Any ideas what carbs these are running? I got a polini filter with an arrow exhaust on mine? And its bogging in first big time? Any ideas would help.
Cheers

Re: TMEC 125-1 Air Filter and Re-Jet?
have you taken the baffle out of the exhaust and have u rejetted the carb? it you take the baffle out it will make it bog down in 1st the carb will have the make written on the side and you need to measure the diamiter of the intake. however if the make is mikuni then you are likly to have a VM22 jets are easy to come by i would advise that you buy a few different sizes and see whice one work best for you (that bit applies for ALL makes of carb)

Re: TMEC 125-1 Air Filter and Re-Jet?
did you find a parts dealer
also what was done for the conformity test
-
Re: TMEC 125-1 Air Filter and Re-Jet?
No parts dealer found as of yet .......................... :(
As for the conformity test. The original dealer who imported the bike took care of all the paperwork except the registration, which in itself was a bit of a pain.
So I is still on the hunt for a reliable parts dealer, who wont dissapear in a puff of smoke.

Re: TMEC 125-1 Air Filter and Re-Jet?

Re: TMEC 125-1 Air Filter and Re-Jet?
hey can you help on the head tube on the one side is a vin no plate then on the other theres a small hole is there a plate on both sides on yours i just bought it and now im worried
-
Re: TMEC 125-1 Air Filter and Re-Jet?
VIN Plate is sat just off centre below the handlebars on the left of the headstock as you sit on the bike, there is nothing at all other than that on it. There as several 2mm holes on the right on the headstock so it looks like you is ok my friend ...............
If you come across a semi local dealer I would be happy to be informed and if I do I will let you know ..............:deal:

Thats interesting about the 200cc engine .................
Might buy the bike off my son when he's done wreaking it and try for a conversion....
Mind you it will need an upgrade on the rear wheel bearing which is on the way out as I type....... :(
-
Re: TMEC 125-1 Air Filter and Re-Jet?
Found a parts dealer ..............................
Although not local, they are very friendly over the phone and have put my request for a speedo cable though to the suppliers
in China and expect it to arrive in around a week. All this without payment up front as well.........
So we are in the waiting game mode.
Here is the url http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/tabbikeimp...id=p4340.l2559
Will let you know on results.

Re: TMEC 125-1 Air Filter and Re-Jet?

-
Re: TMEC 125-1 Air Filter and Re-Jet?
I am using Halfords 10/40 Part Synthetic ....................... Mainly because my son has a trade card but any 10/40 Semi Sythetic of the right SAE will do .......... :)
I need to adjust the tapets as soon as I can but am unsure of clearance tolorences at the moment.
So if there is anyone out there with that knowledge please let us know.........
-
Re: TMEC 125-1 Air Filter and Re-Jet?
whats the SAE there is a thread on the tappets fir the tmec if you look
-
Re: TMEC 125-1 Air Filter and Re-Jet?
the 125 engine is made by TM seem to be a moto x maker
-
Re: TMEC 125-1 Air Filter and Re-Jet?
SAE is in simple terms a Motor Oil Viscosity Standard.
So I put Halfords 10/40 Part Synthetic in my sons and it works great.....
As by way of a bonus ................
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...egoryId_165507
I shall hunt out that thread ................
Also I have found these chaps for spares ................

Re: TMEC 125-1 Air Filter and Re-Jet?
do you have an owners manual mate any chance you couls scan it in 4 me i need info like the oil filter used and other stuff
cheers for helping
hey i found that page for parts last night if you read bike spec then gives engine makers
in my airdox was the filter and a steel mesh thing was this the restricter you took out and is there any more restricter you removed how did you ger the baffle out of the exhaust
-
Re: TMEC 125-1 Air Filter and Re-Jet?
Hi chap
Not got an owners manual just the small booklet that comes with any new motor.
This is next to useless in my oppinion as the broken pigeon english translation that seems
to be rife thoughout the booklet makes a mokery of any info in it. Not worth the paper they used to print it up on .............
The only Mods done so far is to Widen the rubber intake snorkel on the lid of the airbox and de baffle the larger of the pipes running from what I guess to be the immisions box
on the side of the engine. Blocked of the inlet pipe to the bottom of the air box where that pipe attaches and reroute the pipe to a possition where it cant get water in it.
As for removal of the baffle that might require rejetting of the carb so I will not be messing with that at this present time. There is a small pipe that come s from the emmissions box that runs back to the intake side of the carb, just looking at a small rubber plug to bung that up then I will try and remove that and reroute that pipe elsewhere so as not to get water or dirt penetration.

Re: TMEC 125-1 Air Filter and Re-Jet?
hey man can any 1 tell me the max rpm on the tmec 125tm as need for conformity app
-
Re: TMEC 125-1 Air Filter and Re-Jet?
Hi chap ............................
Unsure on that here but based on it being a single cylinder 4 stroke 125 I would estimate it being around the 6500 mark max.
Under load ie moving with a person of average weight on it this would struggle to get past 5750 in top gear.
You could look into say a Honda or Susuki 125 single 4 stroke as this would give you a good base to work from.
For conformaty reasons I would say 6500 would be about right .........But look into it dont just base it on one persons oppinion ........
