Newbie, on here, from Wolverhampton, UK
Hi All
After joining back in November 2015, I can finallly post !! I've got a collection of chinese bikes. Not new to riding bikes, with my current collection standing at.
CFMOTO CF650TR(TK)
Royal Enfield 350 Bullet
Mash 400 Roadstar
Skyteam V-Raptor 125 (Which seems to have been commandeered by my brother in law in the summer, but is now 'protecting' my other bikes)
I sometimes go to the Bassets Pole on a Tuesday, usually with said brother in law, and stepson, you're most likely to see me with my Enfield at the Bassets Pole.
Previously, I started off with a Chituma CTM-125, then progrerssed to a Jinlun JL-250, Honda VTX1300, Suzuki GS500, Lifan LF400, Triumph America, Skyteam V-Raptor, Lexmoto Arrow & Yamaha Diversion 600, usually owning at least 3 at any one time !!
Cheers
Tony

Go Wolves!

Welcome!
So, you've seen both worlds - big Japanese bikes and small Chinese.
Respect!

Re: Newbie, on here, from Wolverhampton, UK
Hiya
Thanks for the welcome :-) yep big Jap, medium Jap, small, medium and by chinese standards now large chinese :-)
I have noticed the quality of the chinese bikes over the last few years is beginning to become much more on a par with the japanese and european manufactured bikes. What they still lack, to some degreee is brand awareness, for example a Honda CG125 is a Honda CG125 in any country, whereas a Zhongshen RX3 can be a Honley RX3, CSC Cyclone RX3 amongst others, depending on who distributes the bike, and therein I think lies the biggest problem. However, that does seem to be changing, albeit slowly.
Cheers

Hi buddy.
I have a red WK650tr
Yes, not that far from you, I get down your way sometimes, have friends in the west midlands.

Re: Newbie, on here, from Wolverhampton, UK
Ha
If we ever park up next to each other, best hope our keys don't fit each other's bikes !!! as my CF650TR is also red ! If you're looking for a satnav holder, I can recommend this one http://www.st1300-accessories.co.uk/...tnavmount.html

Attachment 18140
I know it's designed for the Honda ST1300, but it fits perfectly. I've also had my first foray into ordering off tabao, and also aliexpress, aliexpress is where I got extra mounts etc for the satnav, so I could install the setup on my Mash as well, and I also got the radiator guard from aliexpress.
How long have you had yours? I only picked mine up in December, and since then, not really had the weather for riding it. I got it second hand, 15 plate, but even accounting for the 50 miles I've put on it, still only 64 on the clock !!

Re: Newbie, on here, from Wolverhampton, UK

4,000 ish! miles so far.
Not seen another tr anywhere on my travels.

Not needed to use my sat nav yet.

Re: Newbie, on here, from Wolverhampton, UK
Hi
How are you finding it? Ride anything else as well. There's a chap on the Huoanaio owners forum who also picked one up around October, somewhere down in Essex. How have you found WK? I've not been overly impressed with WK themselves, to begin with they never answered my emails when I was first enquiring about the bike, and since I've had it, I've asked about the longer side stand, and also if there is a centre stand. Their response was, find one of those plates to put on the ground for the side stand, and then buy a generic centre stand kit, which I think is pretty poor advice, as I'm sure that it doesn't look like a centre stand will even fit !!. It's a shame, as I think if the bike does do well over here, it'll be in spite of WK and not because of them :(

Re: Newbie, on here, from Wolverhampton, UK
I find the ride quite good, after years on the Yamaha it should feel good,
WK!!, a while ago I was in regular contact with a guy at their HQ, where ever that is,
He was very helpful with advice, always got a quick reply, but he has left WK,
He sent me CFMoto baseball cap! CFMoto polo shirt, CFMoto lanyard, and CFMoto shirt but that did not fit me, a very nice guy.
The new! guy/guys, not so helpful, they can't be arsed to reply to email mails.
Centre stand, was told it was not designed for one, and fitting one would be nigh on impossible.
Side stand, yep way to short, I am going to see what I can do with mine when the better weather comes.
-
Re: Newbie, on here, from Wolverhampton, UK
Yeah that's what I'd heard about the centre stand, and that makes sense, which is why it was really bad for WK to just say get a generic centre stand off ebay. I've ordered one of these for the side stand, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2816870923...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT. Hopefully that'll do the trick. I'll let you know how well it works, once it arrives and we get a bit of dry weather !!

CF make a longer side stand for the Gen 2 TR ? , in order to fit a centre stand you need to replace the exhaust system to get rid of the big box under the bike to make room for the centre stand so far not heard or seen this done by everyone in China yet.
-
Re: Newbie, on here, from Wolverhampton, UK
Hi,
I will stick with using a paddock stand for the time being.
And try the bodge job on my side stand.
The price of a new (different) exhaust and centre stand would add up to quite a lot of £,s.
Being a tight git I will put up with what I have.
Thanks anyway

well good luck...... 1 off the problem riders here in China have complained about is the Bar need to be raised but due to the design this was always going to be a problem? but just latterly Bar raisers for the TR are now being sold on Taobao.

Re: Newbie, on here, from Wolverhampton, UK
Hi
Yeah I saw those, I'll wait to see how I get on, so, far it doesn't feel particularly uncomfortable, my bigest problem, is that my jacket does rub up against the tank, so I need to put a tank protector on really. Oh, and the centre stand, yeah I knew, I just wanted to highlight how poor WK were with the advice they were offering. I think this is the main problem with chinese bikes, over here, I guess in other countries, the distributors not really knowing their product, and/or poor customer service. Thankfully, this for the most part is much less the case now, but as you can see, the problem isn't entirely eradicated.

Re: Newbie, on here, from Wolverhampton, UK
Yes almost identical......i even have a black top box too.
Yep, took it for its service.....routine stuff........i think (unless i do a lot of miles this summer) this will be its last service at the shop.......up to me then.
Or the local (sort of) WK dealer if i need another before the warranty (for what its worth!!) expires.

Re: Newbie, on here, from Wolverhampton, UK
Hi, yeah, definitely playing snap !!. Did you manage to get a good run out the other day, I managed to give mine a decent run, ~120 miles. Doesn't deflect the wind away from my hands quite as much as I'd have liked. Still, my hands warmed up quick enough !!

Re: Newbie, on here, from Wolverhampton, UK
Yes.....got a ride round the locality.........but my, it was fresh out.
Most of me was fine, but the digits got cold....heated grips for next winter,
Thought I had a problem with the bike,,,on the ride I stopped for a coffee, tried to start the bike, gave all the symptoms of a flat/low battery. :-(
Thought best start at the begining, went to the battery...and.....a loose positive connection.....tightened it up and vroom......I will keep a eye on those battery bolts.
All ok now.

Re: Newbie, on here, from Wolverhampton, UK
Hi All
Just a brief update on how I'm getting on with the CF650TR. In short, really well, and here it is in long hand :-)
Wednesday, had a ride out of ~190miles, all trouble free, on a combination of motorway, and countrified A roads, including a ride across the peak district in glorious spring sunshine. And then yesterday, an 240 mile trip to drop off easter eggs and visit family, similar type of road as on the Wednesday. So, over 2 days of riding, over 400 trouble free miles :-)
