Re: Sanya / Hainan Island
Hell, almost monday morning here, and you just keep sending all these pictures. This time your bann to return should be forever.
On the battery; if it is the battery you are ok with a replacement, but if it is the charging system which is causing it, you will have it happen within 2 days all again.
You can check easily in the next "service centre" you pass, the voltage over the plus and minus, should not be any more then 14.5V at any RPM over 3-4000.

shall do check the electrics and battery once I find an authorised service centre somewhere on the roadside, you know me and my hate of electrics well.... now I remember the voltmeter sitting in my tool box back home.
did pray to the battery and electric gods once already.....

Great stuff TBR - wishing you a safe & "maintenance-free" journey, aside from the battery hick-up!

Checked into a suburban hotel in Ganzhou and they only had a suite available with the full on set-up like mahjong table, TV sets, tea ceremony set, gourmet cup noodles, coffee, tea, various condom packs, pink female shaver displayed in a glass ashtray, male / female lubrication, playing cards, business towel, lounge area, bathroom and a bedroom equipped with a bed as hard as a concrete road slab for the royal sum of 258RMB (the suite had easily 95-100sqm. space).

To the "Wiener" guy based in Guangzhou, let me tell you, love them "Wieners" during long distance bike travels as snacks, especially the imported Meica brand (shelf-stable, no refrigeration needed, glass jar filled with salty brine). I am not very fond of the MSG ladden crappy food offered at roadside stalls or cheap restaurants......
Yeah, here we go, some pics of the shaver on display in the ashtray and the gourmet cup noodles, playing cards, tea ceremony set, etc., had a good nights sleep on the concrete slab.

Ganzhou (Jiangxi) is known as the "Orange Capital of the World" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ganzhou but did not spot a single orange tree and on the way out passed many sawmills, looks like they cut the trees down to make wooden pallets and chopsticks.....

Just down the road from Ganzhou everything became a typical China countryside industrial wasteland for around 200k, boring to ride - polluted and dusty....

The National Road #105 improved quite a lot and became much wider with no traffic at all, great long sweeper bends.... good relaxed riding while listening to music and answering the occasional phone call....
