Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Hey everyone. I am new here. Last week I ordered the DF250RTB from mxmotorsports.us ...it is scheduled to be delivered on Wednesday. I have had a regular 150cc scooter as well as the LKY Hornet. Both of these were fun but it is time for me to upgrade. I wanted to ask what you guys recommend doing after I uncrate it. In the past I just put the battery in and took off as soon as I could. I want to do this one right...
Does anyone have some type of check list to do before starting it up and riding?

Change oil before riding!!!!! The oil that is installed at time of delivery is just shipping oil, buy a magnetic oil plug (you can get one at your local honda dealer, it is the same plug that is used on the Ruckus). Get an NGK plug and make sure it is gapped properly, Check your valve clearance BEFORE you start it as mine were so tight I couldn't get any feeler gauges in between them. Check all of your nuts and bolts and apply blue lock tight to all bolts that may rattle loose. Hope this helps and enjoy your bobber! I had a guy chase me down last night on my way to the movie store and had a million questions while I was at the light. It doesn't matter where I park this thing there is always someone standing there looking at it when I get back to it. Think I am going to buy a BIG ASS bicycle lock so I can lock the back wheel to the frame, also going to buy one of these >> http://www.gizmag.com/spybike-gps-tracker/22999/

Not sure of the cc's for oil, but it's about a 1.25 quarts or so. Filter is on the left side just under the shifter lever. It's a giant 28mm nut cap, remove carefully because there is a spring behind it that will fling it at you if your not careful. Remove the screen cone filter and clean and reinstall. Use some fresh oil on the O-ring on the cap before installing. Shifting issue could be a few different things. Check your linkage and make sure its not bent. Check and make sure that the clutch cable is fully disengaging with a small amout of play in the lever. Make sure that the trans linkage is properly adjusted. And if your talking about trying to shift up at a stop, you cant so dont try. Start shifting into neutral while your coming to a stop. Hope this helps

Hey thanks for the advise! I have heard a couple different opinions on what oil weight to use. Should I really use a different weight for the summer time? Also, no synthetic right?

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Driving my Bobber home from work today I noticed that the top of the forks/shocks are not even on my bike. The shiny top of the fork that comes up thru the bracket is higher on the righthand side than the left. The top of the shock/fork looks like a nut and washer on top. On the lefthand side the top of the shock is nearly flush with the braket and on the righthand side it probably sticks up 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch. It has probably been like this since I bought it but I was wondering if anyone else has the same issue? Thanks!

Thank YOU !!!
Where can i purchase the oil filter? What size is it? Waitr... I dont need to get new one just clean the old one out ???
Yeah I fixed my bike !!!
The problem was that 3out of 4 bolts that hold the sprocket where broken in half. I ordered new bolts from honda superstore took 4days to get them tho. also i took my 35t sprocket and drilled new holes in it for the bolts to be tighter. also i purchased new chain bc the other one was kashed. Installed everything and tthe problem was solved.
Also my carb was really dirty i cleaned that baby now is purring.
But the never the less i have another issue ... There is something that is rattling in my exhaust pipe.. First i thought it was the heat shield i took it off its a bit better but it still rattles bit only when there is a lot of vibration or when hit the pipe with my shoe. where the heat shield was on. Im not sure what the problem might be but its fucking annoying as shit.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Exhaust rattle: Post #2286-2289: The rattle in your exhaust is probably the inner pipe rattling against the outer pipe. I took mine to a custom exhaust shop and he cut in half right near the start of the larger diameter section and determined it was a two pipe design which is common he said. He drilled a hole underneath the heat shield and welded the two pipes together. That "fix" broke right away on me. If yours is like mine the rattle goes away when you press your foot down on the heat shield. I removed my heat shield and drilled two holes through the outer pipe. I then took two self threading machine screws and tightened them down "cinching" the inner pipe so it cant rattle anymore. The screws can't be seen because they are under the heat shield. Been a few months and she is still rattle free!!! My friends told me to let it rattle but it drove me CRAZY!!! Definitely glad I got rid of it.

i am pooped and the surgery scar is sore or i would be right back out there. super pumped to go again. maybe a couple hours on the couch... i check back later tonite.
Well since trying to fix the tank leak I've not ran the bike since I have no tank to run it. Im just trying get the bike paid off. But I never changes the air filter. I have one but not put it one yet and I think I need a larger lower jet. Hopefully have the bike fixed by next month. New tank and battery.

Got my from grip covers and you were right, perfect fit over the stock grips. Only thing is I might need to put some glue under them so they stay put when I add throttle.
On a side note I noticed that my tank has a slow leak. Not much, just a few drops a day it seems but still has me worried. It's always something.
I do remember somebody saying they got a third party tank that was a drop in with no mods, but I could be mistaken. If things get worse I will look for that part of this massive thread. Thank God for the search option.

Just run what your owners manual states. Do not use synthetic during the break in period as this is not good for the gaskets.

gonzox- i did not have to glue my grips. it works fine. everyone should put these on their bike. totally comfortable. besides vibration disappearing, bumps are somehow softer too.
i also noticed a lack of 'rigid teeth rattle'.
i think the site crashed when i tried to put this up. if its up, here it is again. the finished.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Hello, my handles revjack and I hail from montana, owned my DF250 RTB_B SPRINGER a month or so , however it never preformed right way under powered , Changed jets same problem , went two hoter plug a ngk 7ea , smaller sprocket a 35 tooth, and a hiest chain tensioner, found problem today look inside your intake , I found a 13mm lock nut wedged between my intake valve. How it got there is your guess as good as mine, lucky it didnt bend the valve, I fished it out, then checked valve lash, well it was non existant. way too tight, so I set intake at @ 5MM and exhaust @ 6 mm, wow bike came alive, lash is a hair loose but I set it on a hot motor, Sweet, cruises 50, up hill and actually has some throttle left The bike has less than 80 miles on it so hasnt broke in yet, I expect more preformances as the rings seat. shes a beaut!

try to order one from where you bought the bike. $75 is great for a painted tank that fits.
That's a good idea, thanks. But Killermotorsports sucks at getting parts though so if I have to order one I will try sunny sports or scooterdepot first. I prefer a third party tank but I think a black tank that doesnt fit right might be a bad way to go. Hell Killermotorsports still owes me a part under warranty but once you pay for the bike they stop giving a ****.
Regarding the foam grip covers, I think your right. If I grip them they are fine on the throttle but it does slip if I move them with no grip pressure. Probably wont be an issue. Just need to ride it with the grips and see how they do. Really happy I found these, thanks to you.
