Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
I got the holes in pretty easy, bu my stupid ass broke the bolt off in the clutch clamp and even if I tap it out its stripped to shit...
Sad thing is I barely torqued them in just to get it to catch...
Now I have to either call up countyimports and bitch at them to send me a new one or just buy a new one off ebay.
I really dont want to deal with countyimports because I doubt I will see the part for a few weeks.
Attachment 3590
I just emailed countyimports and sent them that pic so lets see how long it takes to get this part...
I am ordering these sexy levers though as well because I planned on doing a black and red theme on the bike anyway: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...#ht_5685wt_935
hopefully they are long enough and not like bmx style levers hehe

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Good luck gettin the parts Aboshi at least its an easily replaceable part.
Well my fight with Scooterdepot is now ended and i called the big guns in. after being put on hold for a combined total of 4hrs today and getting the runaround I contacted the bank and they are crediting my account and going after Scooterdespot I'm done with them and that bike!!!

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
damn that sux Gordo I figured you were going to have to do a charge back, I just ordered those levers so hopefully I will have them soon =(
I still have to change the oil and put some gas in the tank but I got caught up doing other things today...

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Get 'em Gardo, don't take any crap from these jackholes:gun_bandana:; for the customer it's a beating, to them it's business as usual, and that ain't right! Apparently they get away with it enough they don't feel the need to change.
Good to see CCW is treating you right, I think that may be the bright spot.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Sucks that you got to work it that way, but least you got a good bank that will fight it for you. I did like the DF that I saw of it, but was just not worth the possible hassle, Im glad some of you are having good luck with them though. For the price it was hard to beat out, for me it was worth the extra to go with the Heist, I do tend to do a lot of work myself for other things, but time is a tough thing to get. Single father means less times for toys, but the good part of it is, my daughter loves my toys so looks like I will be working with her on things as she gets older.

Yea it does but at least the bank is helping out. I have a 3.5yr old myself that loves motorcycles and tooling around in daddy's garage still trying to sell the wife on the fact i wanna get a lil dirt bike or 12volt for her

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
barnone, hows the DF running? Was that a straight pipe from the factory? or did it have some baffle? Know you upgraded to the 8" baffle, wondering if we could get a sound clip or video. Interested in hearing how it sounds? I am going to design something for my Heist, but know I will want to baffle some, so looking at tons of differences. Thanks

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Aboshi, what's the story with the bike, has it been out in th elements since Monday? is the dealer sending the MSO?
-
Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Yeah I have a cover on it and its been too nasty out to do anything on it =(
Snow hail and rain for the lat few days, I am still waiting on the MSO I really wanted it by tomorrow so I can go down to DMV and get it all regged up but that doesn't looks like thats gonna happen...
I'm sure they are slacking on getting me the MSO...
Also I had only got that one email form Tina about the clutch lever and all she said was that she is contacting the manufacture, so who knows how long that will take.
I did however order these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HONDA...#ht_5685wt_935 so the one that countyimports sends me will just be a back up just in case =)
I think I will call them right now and see if they have sent out my MSO yet :P
I'll report back in a bit and let you all know.
**edit**
They only put the order in for my MSO yesterday and they wont have it for a few days so I might have it next week...
I will keep you posted =(
At least its really shitty up here right now and I wouldn't be able to ride her anyway, but if this was closer to summer and it took someone over a month to get the bike and MSO I'm sure they would be super pissed! I'm already pissed and its just because of the principalities hehe

bck,
The DF is running just fine. I think I went too far when I changed the rear sprocket to a 33 tooth so ordered a 38T to try.
These simple bobbers are sure easy to work on and customize. Took me a half hour to check the valves for the second time at 600 miles. They were too tight the first time but just fine the second time.
The muffler is stock and is straight through although I pretty sure there is a catalytic converter in the head pipe. I'll pull the baffle I installed and get a sound byte.
Gardo liked the sound the short time he had his DF but I don't like loud bikes.
I haven't heard what Aboshi thinks about the sound of his DF. I'm interested to hear about how his new clutch/brake levers fit and work.
I'm an old fart so maybe that has something to do with it.:lol8:

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
I haven't even started the bike yet :(
The weather turned on us here so I have to wait till tomorrow to change the oil and throw the battery in.
I hope the 35T isn't too far as well, if it is I will wind up moving to a 420 or 428 setup and going with a 15/40 or a 15/39

Must be nice--our car thermometer indicated 102 today (no, not April fool's)

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
102F and 34F both suck!!!
I like it at a nice 75-85F
-
Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Yea but that 102 is a dry heat.... then again so is an acetylene torch and I'm not putting my face in that either :17:

Yeah, we been stuck with the 75-85F weather here in Florida for months. Getting kinda old looking at those bikinis at the beach.:riding:
-
Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
I'll be coming down to FL to visit some family in the next 3 weeks so I will enjoy the warm weather while I can =)

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Ok I finely got the battery in and changed the oil!
Fired her up for the first time and WOOOOOOOO I love the sound of this bike!!
kinda got my D hard hehe, it almost sounds like a Suzuki TL1000R I truly love the deep throaty sound this thing puts out!
I still have to figure out the choke though If I leave it in the center it runs perfectly and also if I switch it all the way down it runs perfect, but then second I flip the choke all the way up the bike stalls within 2-4 seconds. I cant take it for a ride yet because I am waiting on the new clutch set to come in =(
I also wanted to point out to anyone who hasn't had a china bike before, these things oxidize VERY fast! I had a cover on the bike from day one and the last 2 days it was raining (no water got on the bike that I am aware of) but where there is no pain it oxidized already (3 small spots on the battery box). I had the same thing happen on my bothers Roketas a few years back. I'm not sure if its because I live directly on the beach or if the metallurgy in china is just not up to snuff I guess only time will tell =)
Other then that they did a killer job at putting this thing together, I am actually shocked how torqued down all the nuts/bolts are. I will get some video of the bike tomorrow and more pics but the audio isn't going to be that good because its a gopro HD and they aren't known for their audio =)
I'm still kicking myself in the ass for snapping the bolt to hold the clutch on O.o

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Aboshi,
Congrats on getting her fired up. So you don't think it is too loud? If so guess I'll quit saying it is too loud. Can you get a sound bite of the stock muffler for bckcntrysddr? My video camera is acting up.
Choke is backwards of what I thought it should be. Down is off. Since I changed the main jet to 100 and put a washer under the needle, I never need the choke and now it is not cold blooded.
Took a long ride today and I'm sticking with the 33 tooth rear for now. Maybe I'll need the 38t when I take her to the mountains.
Sure get the looks when you are riding one of these bobbers. People pull up next to you and ask questions about the bike.
-
Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Yeah I don't think the exhaust is that loud at all =)
But I am used to riding race bikes that sound ringgy as hell, but I really love the sound of this bike with the stock pipe.
I will get a sound byte tomorrow with my gopro and my cell phone, I think the cell phone will get a better clip to be honest.
I thought that choke was backwards because all the way up the bike would just stall warm or cold.
-
Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Glad you got it started Aboshi it was a fun ride, I did dig the pipe on it, so much so I did something similar on the Heist today
-
Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
We will defiantly need to get together , I would love to see these bikes side by side.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Any of you guys know why The Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Can't be registered in PA? I just saw that on one of the dealer sites. Crazy cause I don't see any reasoning behind it......The DF Bobber looks like it has everything it would need for a PA Inspection. Hmmmmm????????

its all a political thing. the bike itself seems fine but it has to do with the way individual states register vehicles. Their WMI had expired back in 2004 some states will recognize it others wont.
yay politics

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
JTC:
Call the DMV tech line and we can give you a VIN # to check if you can register it in your state, there are a few states that require the manufacture to be registered with them or they will not let you reg the bike. I am still waiting on my MSO here in NY but I called the DMV tech support line with barnon's VIN over a week ago and they said they are fine with getting regged here. I really wont know till I go to the DMV. The tech at DMV said the NJ is a pain in the ass, so just try calling your DMV and find out.
-
Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
I had No Problem Registering my Qlink whatso ever. I just happen to see PA was excluded on one of the dealer sites. Obviously that dealer knows something about PA and registering that bike, must be a pain in the arse. I think the dealer was extreme scooters.
-
Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
no that was information passed by Gordo...
He tried to reg the bike in NJ and they shut him down, his DMV said no way to NY, NJ, PA
But he only tried in NJ, so even though your Qlink got regged really don't mean a thing, because if Qlink was a registered manufacture in your state if required you were fine but if Dong Fang isnt then your SOL. Thatis ONLY if PA requires them to be registered in PA though. I'm pretty sure you will be fine with the Dong Fang though because NJ are a bunch of Nazis when it comes to motor vehicle stuff (or anything fun for that matter).

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Hey lets stop passing Barnones vin# around. I have the one I sent back that I am more than willing to spread over the air waves
