Nope. 35 rear sprocket. My ride weight is 140 pounds. Possibly once I adjust the valves and cap off the air injection it will drive better. 4th gear full throttle flat ground maybe 46mph then i shift to 5th and keep it pegged ill hit 50 if its flat. Going down a hill i hit 55 and then my hose on the air injector exploded againQuote:

Aerodynamic drag (air resistance) and available engine power is what limits top speed not rider weight.
Rider weight does effect acceleration rates.
First thing you need to do is to ADJUST the valves to prevent any engine damage and maybe that will improve your engine's power.
BTW, I am still breaking in my 2012 DF but I have run it up to 60 MPH indicated on the flat. I do need to check my speedometer for accuracy but what GonzoX says about his check is good to hear.

I'm still breaking in my 2012 so have kept the RPM under 6k. Seems I use to run the RPM up to just under 8k on my well broken in 2010 which gave me a top speed of about 68 MPH (GPS).
im running a 112 I believe , and im still leaning out near max speed with the "ram air" , and I don't have a rpm gauge but I guess its around 6 , ive set my valves very loose if I tightened em up I may get it to 6.5krpms and a bit more speed
You must be running a very high geared rear sprocket/tire combo to be getting 80 MPH and only turning 6k RPM. I'm running a 35 tooth rear sprocket on my 2012 and am running about 60 MPH (indicated) at 6K RPM.Quote:

I ran the Dragon yesterday. Drew quite a crowd and gave out the info on the bike to several riders at the store there. Got 79 MPG even with the spirited riding.
This has been a problem that many different bikes have had.It's not limited to the DF.When you ram air down the carb at high speed,the float bowl will sometimes be slow to deliver fuel.To compensate,people have started to face the carb vent to into the wind with the airfilter.It really helps.Quote:

A few observations on my new df250rtb_b bobber. First, that lift gate delivery they advertise didn't amount to much. The driver wouldn't come into my neighborhood (twisty, hilly gravel roads), so we met out on the side of the state hwy where he put it in the back of my pick-up. Wasnt easy getting it off by myself but I wasn't about to wait for help to show up with a new motorcycle sitting there!
Bike is in good shape, only a few scuffs & scrapes. Have to get a little flat black touch up paint. The plastic canister that holds the electronics is bent off center but its the bracket inside so I'd have to remove everything to get at it. I think I'll just live with it. Another small complaint is the manual. Its title is "Dong Fang 250 cc" so I suppose its generalized for all bikes with that engine but the pics & some of the write-up seems geared towards a rebel type cruiser. And it is one of the worst English translations I have ever seen. Some of it is completely unintelligible. Ah well, who needs a stinking manual?
Anyway, put it together, made a few adjustments (all the adjusting nuts were loose) set up the battery, gassed it up & took it for a short spin down the road & back. I like it a lot! Handles real good, lots of response with that hard tail frame and springer front. The sprung seat works very well, seems about right for my 165 lbs. Have to watch for potholes though!.
Didn't have any problems with DMV. Paperwork was all in order (and arrived on time). Got more questions and took more time at the ins. agent than at the license bureau!
One thing worries me a bit is the chain tension. It is really tight. Even with the adjusters maxed in it is taut, as in no slack, none. Maybe it'll loosen up a little during a gentle break in, or if I switch to a smaller sprocket. Is this typical or do I need to worry?
Another question: did y'all change the oil right away, or run some break-in miles first? Oil seems ok to me, I was thinking putting 150 miles on it then change.

I was able to adjust my chain on my 2012 for a little slack but don't worry, it will "stretch" out quick.
I changed the oil before I started my DF up. Didn't seem like there was much oil in it. Did you check it?
Hey guys. I have some jets left over from a 150ccgy6 project I was working on. They are Hoca main jets size 8mm long, 5mm thread, 6mm heads. I know it has been said to use Keihin jets.. but since these appear to be the same measurements do you think they would fit? I have a 114, 115, and 120 left. I was thinking id try the 114 and combine with the air ram setup. Any thoughts?

After you change the sprocket or adjust the chain on the 2012 check the clearance of the rear fender and the tail light wiring from the tire, as the further you move the tire back the less clearance you will have that may result in destroyed wiring.
This is very important! I am now the current owner of a make shift rear fender because I did not check fender clearance... I would encourage you to follow this advise (:Quote:

Easy enough to try. Drain the fuel after shutting off the petcock. You can just unbolt the carb (two 10mm nuts) and rotate it to remove the float bowl. You can leave all cables and hose in place.Quote:

HOT DAMN!! Thought i'd give you a quick update. I checked in almost two weeks ago. If you remember, the DF arrived with broken shift linkage, missing foot peg, and no power to the starter. Had been pretty bummed out, and was thinking about taking it somewhere to have the electrical issue checked out. Ordered and installed shift linkage/peg. Finally got around to removing the tank tonight to look for loose electrical connections, and there staring me in the face was the two big plastic connections coming from the handlebars!!! Not only were they disconnected, they were a good TWO INCHES APART!!! Plugged them in, put the tank back on (being carefull not to tighten the bolts down to hard) flipped the choke and it STARTED RIGHT UP!!!!
Holy smokes, what a relief. It does seem to idle very high, but I'm happy tonight just to get it running. Will adjust the idle some other time.

Thanks Bob! I went out and checked it and the throttle adjustment was cranked all the way up. I backed it off most of the way, like you said, and dropped the idle down till it sounded "normal". It was idling VERY high. Thanks again!

Pushrod, my chain was too tight as well. Im a newb but been told that a half inch of slack is what you want. That's what I did. But after you do that your chain will start to break in after a few months and you will need to adjust it tighter again.
The FIRST thing I would tell anyone buying this bike is...dont leave it in the elements unless you like using rust remover. Wish I made room in my garage when I first bought her. Just food for thought. And dont just oil the chain, oil the wheel spokes. They will be the first to rust in normal rain.
Oil change I would do first 400-600 miles. Sadly I am lazy and have yet to do this. Probably do that next weekend. Lots of other RL stuff that needs my attention as well so I have been neglecting chopstick (My DF250).
You guys with the B model, I envy you. Better tank etc. Wish I had the B model but my 2010 DF is a work in progress and it's paid for so Im investing slowly in it until I can afford a bigger bike which will be probably two years from now LOL.
In the mean time this bike works and is affordable so Im not complaining. Go look at the prices of used Harleys and even Yamahas and you will go back home and see your Chicom bike in a different and more possitive light.
Ive done a mess of small mods mainly things that need to be fabricated, but i thought id show a few.
first i wanted to get a real horn and find the best place to put it...
second if having the 2012 B springer, i figured if its such a hard ride i might as well show off the springs, so the head light and speedometer had to be moved.
third, when moving the speedometer, i wanted to balance it out with a new tachometer...
unfortunately when ordering i didn't notice how damn small it was... perhaps ill upgrade later...

But i cannot take the throne as king; you missed it but there were a couple of guys 6 to 8 months ago with too much time on their hands who used ebay to replace and chrome out nearly everything...

But I've just fell in love with this headlight, I think it would go nicely upside down on that new headlight mount...
Ultimately, as inadvisable it is, my plan is to fabricate a jockey shifter possibly an accompanying suicide clutch. Truth is i dont ride much, and sort of justified getting a bike that needs maintenance, to help justification to my mill and lathe...
Oh ya... and i will some sort of forced air ram. i just have to squeeze out any power where possible.
