Ok.. I just went and checked..the leak seems to come from behind the switch, I could see a small drop..
I might have to unscrew the switch and then see.... By the time the leak source is detected, I'll be an expert on this bike.
Here is the pictures.. of the leak..Attachment 14750Attachment 14751

That switch maybe sealed with an o ring or paper gasket, which can usually be purchased at a good auto parts store like napa. The paper gasket can be made from gasket material bought from the auto parts store.I have made my own gaskets for years and they work just as good as factory and sometimes better.I don't recommend sealers like rtv or silicon. It will squish out into the inside of the engine, where it can break loose, and lodge in a small oil passage and kill an engine.

Yes.. there is an O-Ring in the groove, (No paper gasket). Well, I'll have to look for it at the auto parts store. I'll have to take the O-ring out..
For the time being - I had some very tiny thin rubber bands, I wrapped 2 bands around the O-ring and put it back. it's been over an hour I have not
seen any oil as yet. I'll know by tonight.
I have three bikes besides this Honda 2012 Shadow Aero750, 2012 Honda Fury 1500cc and the 2008 Honda VTX1800F...
I might sell this DF250RTB, let me know if I can find buyer for it. It only has 175 miles on it..
Any ideas on the O-rings besides auto part store..

I bought an o ring kit from Harbor Freight for a few dollars. It has come in very handy.Saved me time and money from buying/ordering factory replacements.

Thanks a lot, you have been really a big help in your expert guidance on the subject matter.
BTW, Seems the rubber band trick worked no leak so far, will check again in the morning. I'll get the O-ring from Harbor Freight.

Yeah, Already ordered it on ebay the same one which Harbor Freight had. I also needed some rubber grommets for my saddlebag
on VTX1800 they were of stock, so I ordered that on ebay too from the same guy. Al little expensive, but no biggy.
Yeah, that rubber band might not hold, i don't ride that bike that often, the oil leak was staining my garage and was getting to be annoying.
I won't ride until I install the o-ring.
Planning to Plasti Dip the bike black mat finish. http://dipyourcar.com

Beware, plastidip is not fuel resistant.Keep a rag or paper towels around the pump nozzle when filling up.

Ok... thanks for the tip on plasticdip.
Re leak.. NO MORE LEAK, so we caught the source. That was a tough one to catch. Waiting for the O-rings.
Re chain, should I tighten it back, might have to adjust a bit, it moves an inch up/down when pressing/pulling at the center.

Re: DF250RTB 2012 Oil Leak
I would not do it, but if you check out the Ice Bear Road warrior trike, it has a 248cc V -twin that might be a starting place for another engine.

Re: DF250RTB 2012 Oil Leak
Giant thread with lots of topics. Didn't meant to bogart. I can see how important the oil leak issue is to you. Glad you were able to solve it. Hope you get your chain adjusted.

Half inch to 3/4 would be good since the DF has a rigid frame.

Conversion to H4 bulb socket and then to LED replacement F.Y.I.
This replacement for a H4 bulb appears to have some merit. If too rich for your DongFang budget, perhaps it might interest some on a "real" motorcycle. It is claimed to project on the reflector the same as a H4 bulb. The wattage/amperage is about half of a H4 bulb.
I am going to give it a try in My Yamaha 250,when it arrives.

Then it comes down to the smoothness and quality of the chrome inside the headlight housing to reflect and project the light out in front of the motorcycle.

Kinda expensive for a bike (real or otherwise) that will not out run it's existing headlight.

Re: Conversion to H4 bulb socket and then to LED replacement F.Y.I.
Expensive??? This is expensive... It can be had cheaper, but still over $200.00
I am just trying to pass on a little bit of info that might be of interest to some people.
Here is even cheaper,if you want to buy in China. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2X-50W-CRE...item417a515158

Re: Conversion to H4 bulb socket and then to LED replacement F.Y.I.
If you read back a few hundred pages, I changed my headlight out for an actual hi/lo automotive glass headlamp. Like one I have in my 63 chevy wagon. It fit in the bucket with out a single problem.I just had to change out the connector. It shines nice and bright. And it only cost me $15

Re: Conversion to H4 bulb socket and then to LED replacement F.Y.I.
Just for general info. There is a vendor called banggood.com out of China that has a lot of stuff for motorcycles. It's mostly cosmetic and generic. I've ordered several times and the quality has always been good as is the service. It does come from a warehouse in China so there is the usual delay in shipping. Just do a search on their site for "motorcycle"

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
I've just ordered 2 pair of very small LED turn signals from them for my RTB B when It arrives next week. Less than $10.00 for both pairs with free shipping. Now, if anyone can point me in the right direction, I'm looking for a tall "old school" style sissy bar?
-
Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Just a heads up, I've had some bad experience with Jafrum.. I'm sure it doesn't apply to everyone... but General consensus is to stay far away from them.
