Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Thats a sharp looking ride Gardo. I am still wondering if the engine would fit....
I was a little concerned about getting the DF registered in Tennessee... but I was worried about nothing, it took 20 minutes, and of those 20 minutes, 15minutes was waiting for a fax from Guardian Finance. I did have a problem with Killer Motorsports where I bought the bike. Everybody there is as sweet as honey up until you get them paid and then they treat you like the "great unwashed" , I had to wait over a month for them to ship the bike , that was my biggest issue and they just either lied or did not know diddly about the product they were selling. Their website proclaimed that they performed the PDI before the bike shipped and there was a tool kit . The also claimed the bike was a 250cc that would achieve 70-75 mph , yadda yadda yadda.... I had to perform the PDI myself, they never sent me the tool kit and as you mentioned the motor is a 229cc. So that experience left a bad taste, but once I got it unwrapped and off the crate.... I could not part with it. I can honestly say that dealer support has premium value ... I'm just too cheap to spend the money... LOL
I am going to take time tonight and look at the thread Alleykat mentioned, I want to start with the mods this spring and I need some ideas. Most of what I want to do is cosmetic... the first mechanical mod will be the 35 tooth sprocket.

This would be an idea if Weaver's Big Bore kit comes to past. I was reading maybe 300cc?? That would justify the engine upgrade in my book!

A Correction on the DF chain size : It is only a standard non-O ring 520.
Has anyone considered a Honda rebel 250 used engine ? I almost went that route, until I found My V Star.
This guy has a good deal for someone looking to buy a DF 250. LOL ! http://www.mychinamoto.com/forums/sh...ot-bobber-quot (as long as you do not live in one of the 5 states that Gardo mentioned).
Sorry about the "cheap plug". I could not resist.

Mailman, that is one heck of a deal, I wish I had some extra cash.... of course the wife was not too keen on me getting the first one, I would probably have to sleep in the garage if another one showed up....
I will tell everyone I know .
Could you possibly register the bike out of state and then transfer it into Connecticut? I was planning on doing just that myself if I had problems in Tennessee. I think that Sunny needs to be taken to task for selling and advertising a product that is 49 state legal which obviously is not.

Good luck with the sell.

Hey guys, my neutral lamp stays on all the time no matter what gear i'm in. I went 30 miles today, bike runs good and no problems shifting through the gears. Any ideas in whats up with the light?

I considered that, as I have a cousin in VT., but they do not title bikes that are under 300cc.

sounds like the sensor/switch is stuck closed. Don't know where it would be, possibly in the transmission/clutch housing.... the light not working properly could be a serious pain in the butt. You will have to be extra vigilant making sure you are in neutral before releasing the clutch all the way. My friend dumped her bike at a red light because of a similar issue. Thought it was in neutral and just dumped the clutch and whammo... I think she only hurt her pride, but it could have been bad.
