They're right about the Triumph cable. Very robust. I've got some but they're 48" long (tip-to-tip). My DF has clip-on's, so the shorter cable came in handy. But just placing the loose cable against my bike, if you forego running the cable through the frame cable loop, there should be plenty of length.
How's $30 + shipping sound?

Hey guys. I have had my DF for two mths. now. Got it at the 1999.99 price. Still too cold to ride so I have been fiddling with it. It is flat black. I took off the pin stripping and put in the rare earth magnetic oil plug. Changed out the packing oil to 10w 40. I didn't like the handle bars so I just dropped off some drag bars to be powder coated today along with a 38 tooth rear sprocket. I may want to go with the 35 tooth, but I will see what it does with the stock 45 tooth first. Then try the 38 tooth sprocket. Go from there. I love the way it sits with me on it. The seat and springs handle my 190 lbs. with no problem. I put a hard tail saddle bag on the left side, wanted one on the right side too, but the exhaust would burn it, All is left, I got to do something with that rubber seat. :-)

Ghost , I would like to congratulate you on that fine machine you have there. I believe that the flat or matte black is the way to go on these bikes. The glossy black is just too flashy. I want to black out everything on mine even the chrome. Did you have any problem taking the stripes off? Mine seem to have a clear coat sprayed over them... when I get to it, the clear coat wont slow me down at all... I am just hoping for a quick removal with minimum mess to clean up before applying the paint.

It took me all of fifteen minutes to reg it. The pin stripes off with the help of a hair dryer, I'm not done yet.
Have some drag bars being powder coated right now. And a 38 tooth sprocket. Going to be fun.
I'm not so sure why everone has so much trouble regisrering their bike. It was quick and easy for me.
When I get the drag bars on...

Hi I was reading about the sprockets and I was wandering where can I get the sprockets for this bike? I ride 39 miles to work on the freeway and going sixty the whole way isn't cutting it

Look up old installation tips from Barnone (Oct'11?) Spring tool important, I found x-large at Sears.
I went with the 38 tooth sprocket. But at the price I might concider getting the 35 tooth. Anyone compare the difference. If I can cruise at 60 mph. I would be happy. But I want some get up and go too. I've yet to get the break in at 30 mph. That's rough. There's enough backroads around here. Just wish the weather would cooprerate. I think I am going to be happy with the bike, but someone just asked me a question that worries me. Said the tires were subject to blow out. I 'm not sure I believe it. Although I did have to pump up my front tire. It went flat within 20 days. But they really look like good tires. And with the 175 mile break in at 30 mph. I'll not worry about it too much. (-: yes.
