CCW tha Heist

Well got to messing around with the bike tonight, took the exhaust off to see what will be needed to make my own. Also, opened up the electrical box to see about idea I had about putting switches in there, but there is absolutely no extra room so looks like I will be either extending it or fabricating a whole new one...its just never as easy in practice as it seems in your head :taz: haha

And I was just reading up on the CCW blog and turns out the place I work for had a booth setup with Scott and the CCW bikes last year, wish I would have known this connection and could have gotten the hook up on my bike ha. Small world

here's some for you..... if i were to get clip on bars, what size are the fork tubes on our bikes? where did you get your tool bag from? what diameter handlebars do we have? are you running a stock battery still (i.e. the maintenance battery) if you are not what battery are you running? i've been looking into a sealed battery just to get rid of the possibility of the battery leaking in the box again and corroding the shit out of it! is there any real benefits to removing the emissions junk on these bikes, powerwise? are grips hard to change? are bars hard to change? and last but not least..... are there any performance mods recommended other than the weaver carb and exhaust that would help my bike get up to speed and stay there? :) hahaha questions are open to anyone that has an answer, not just directed to gardo, but do appreciate all the help! like i said, it's my first bike and i want to get some stuff for it but want to make sure that what i buy will indeed fit!!! most likely will have a ton more questions..... just a heads up. hahaha

The Handlebars are 7/8" diameter ( http://www.sideroadcycles.com/Import...dlebars78.html ),,, grips can be found on e-bay and make sure you get a extra throttle tube just in case you mess up your original while replacing the grips ( if it's the plastic style throttle tube )...

I have also seen people use clubman bars and had them turned to where they were at the same height as clip ons without having to measure the fork tube diameter ( just a thought )...

I think the forks are 55mm or 58mm, I'm verifying that and should have an answer later this morning.

Yes i am still on the stock battery been doing real well so far, I will be changing it out to a sealed battery at the start of the next riding season Something like this

haven't had a problem with a leaky battery

I felt that the bike ran better, some will say no, but I know the feel of my bike and without the emission stuff my bike responded better. Not to mention that it cleans up the engine area nicely :thumbsup:

6. are grips hard to change?
If you are swapping the bars no, but the throttle control can crack if you are not careful. I destroyed one in the process on getting my new grips on it. I am thinking when i redo my bars and grips I will go with a metal assembly

Easy peezy 12 threezy. Just remember that the risers are set for the stock bars, I had to add a steering limiter to the left side to keep my drags from hitting the tank

Oh boy, isnt that a loaded question. There are anumber of things that weaver does. The Pipe and the carb are the cheapest and easiest of the mods.
There is gearing change, swapping the sprockets.
Milling the head, which was just mean. He's doing one up for me now.
Porting and polishing the intake
Larger carb
Hell he has so many things going on.

even on the pictures it's all different just same bobbers posted on the same angle i can't see any parts alike i don't want to be sarcastic but maybe they use same guage/color wires or same size bolts and nuts.
i've built knocks for several years now and i have numerous conversations with mr.scott long before the heist was release.
scott had built a knock before and maybe got the idea to make his own but not a modified 200cc knock. and i also have a chance to look up-close on a pag barhog.

i love all kinds of lower cost bobbers - pag, ccw, knocks, dongfang, unik...... they all bobbers but totally different bikes. thanks

Just a heads up guys... I got a cheap micrometer when I got this bike. Non-digital sliding ruler style. It measures everything and has been invaluable. Fork tubes, bars, carb intake, jet lengths etc. Use that tool all the time and it wasn't even five bucks.

opened the bike up on a backroad today, it was pulling 80mph. Like Gardo has said before, not recommended, but glad to know it can get there. Also I snapped this today:

Went out today and rode for roughly 3 Hrs....... got out into the country and ohio is flat as hell.... I knew this beforehand but didn't realize how much the wind would affect me, apparently had 35mph wind gusts, and definitely felt them. Scariest ride I've taken. Probably just put around town for the rest of the day, due to the fact of being scared of falling over

Hi guys, new hear. I seem to have developed an obsession with Tha Heist. All the info I have read here reinforces that but I have a technical question I haven't seen addressed. What is the output of the magneto system? Does anyone have any data on it? How about a schematic of the electrical system? I'm an electrician by trade with a degree in electronics so I tend to dwell on such things.

so i think friday i am pulling the trigger on the weaver carb. :) still cant decide on bars though! why so many options. have it narrowed to low rise drags (super narrow) or the clip ons. i've got a couple days to think it over.

Hey Bob,

I think its between 15 - 25 Kilovolts but will need to check. There is a wire schematic in the manual, but the manual sux LoL.
I might see if I can find it and scan it up

Hey Bob - new here also and almost ready to buy the heist as you are. Like Gardo says, unfortunately manuals from China even Taiwan are are battered verbally, or 'Chinglished'. Really sucks. I'd rather see IKEA make a manual.

Thanks Gardo - and great to hear about the manual re-vamp. Just want to say I've been interested in tha heist since last fall, and now that I've found this forum from doing some hard digging - and even more this buzzing thread, I can now say I'm most likely going to get one. I've corresponded with Brett at PIT, and if that's not enough, if others like me knew about what they (and of course Scott C.) stand for, and the support that can be found here, I think they'd all be sold.

No, I don't think so. If it produced 15-25 kilovolts I don't think you would go any where near it, lol. I think you mean watts, but even 15-25 kilowatts would be equivalent to 20-33 hp. I'm going to assume it's in the 150 watt range, or about 12 amps available current. Since my last post I've done some further research and found a reference that said as much. But thanks for the response.

Some more questions, ... in the videos of the Heist and the similar 250 from extreme scooters, the D250RTB, the exhaust seems awfully loud on both bikes. Are those the stock muffler I'm hearing?

Does the Heist really weigh 420 lbs or is that the shipping weight? That seems awfully heavy for a 250.

Must be the shipping weight, I think the dry weight on the bike is about 260lbs

I'm not sure which videos you're referring to, but I'm sure they have modified exhausts, the stock exhaust is pretty darn quiet. That's why I put the G&D on (it's good to be seen AND heard on the road, safety first ;) )

Take any info you hear on this thread with a grain of salt. Lots of misinformation being posted.

The stator output of the 167FMM engine is probably marginal and if you plan to add a load like heated clothing you will probably be in trouble. It's hard to get valid data on these Chinese bikes. You might have to measure the output yourself to get valid data.

I have the DF250RTB and the stock exhaust is very loud. I added a 8" baffle to tone it down. It appears that the exhaust mod that is being done to the Heist muffler emulates the DF exhaust so should be very loud. A lot of bikers mistakenly equate loudness to power.

Welcome Kaw. The stock exhaust is quiet. As the miles go on it gets a little deeper. I run the G&D full pipe now and put a 4" baffle in, still sounds great but not insulting to everyone around you. Enough to be heard, not enough to worry about getting tickets around here.

The electro diagram in the manual is not that bad actually. It's helped me out a few times. Good enough to quickly trace down a wire or two. Not good enough to tell you how many gigawattz the mag is putting out.

Bob the bike is about 325 - 330lbs. I'm running a modified Weaver Pipe which deepens it out a bit, not loud at all when sitting at a light and not terribly obnoxious while riding. i find it just right for me.
There is a growing support network, for the Heist. Though the bike is currently manufactured in China the company is American and quite responsive to questions.
For the really heavy technical stuff contact Al alan@pitmotorsltd.com from PIT Motors LTD. PIT is the distributor for the CCW bikes. the rest of us are just guys who bought and love the bike. We try to help one another out but sometimes our lack of knowledge can peak through.
There is a lot of great info in this thread and the best part is that the tha Heist is completely legal to be in and Sold in all 50 States

Look at the two photos. The frames are very similar. See how the air cleaner has to be angled out on both frames? That's because Hardknock used the frame from the Hardknock 125 which was designed for a smaller engine.

If you were designing a new frame for the Heist would you have it set up that way?
