Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
The prices are about the same, the legitimate dealers provide jobs for Americans. As the products advance like the Benelli line they have to have actual real legitimate dealers.
States that stop titling vehicle on age or title vehicles with a bill of sale are inviting fraud and they have to spend time a resources searching to check if vehicles are stolen or not.
Nothing wrong with titling a vehicle that you know is new and not stolen, but people are selling untitled vehicles online and that is really inviting criminal activity.
If people and their government stop maintaining proof of ownership that invites fraud seems so naïve to me.
A really good example is CSC selling only direct, it’s a dead-end once the vehicle hit market prices and with relative worth people will not buy them without a licensed dealer.
The online direct business model is limited to real low end products. I think the wholesalers are greedy and not smart enough to see the big picture, loss of sales, limited and short sighted, selfish.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
MJH,
I didn't say anything against legitimate dealers. I was complaining about states adding unnecessary costs to a product by requiring a fee like CT does.
Of course vehicles should be registered and titled if driven on public roads.
Please take your soapbox to other threads.
I have added MJH to my ignore list.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Some states like Vermont for one do not require titles for vehicles made before 2002, they only register those as in issue plates. Also a vehicle any year according to Vermont does not require a title unless there is a loan involved, they will issue a plate to anyone in any state with only a notarized bill of sale. The only problem with such a system is that bills of sales can be falsified easily and a registered Vermont plate that can be converted, in many other states that do require titles, to a title in those states and could end up being a stolen vehicle.
So anyone who thinks that this is great way to take cheap old vehicles for sale online and registers them through Vermont and its crazy liberal regulations, they should be careful because selling stolen property is a felony and without a title and legitimate process you cannot be really sure what the history of the vehicle is.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Sad news yesterday guy. Was riding back from the Dr office, hit 3rd gear and the trans left go.Blew a gear and put a hole in the case. Looking at another motor right now on ebay , http://www.ebay.com/itm/162186992249...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
asked the guy a few questions before I jump on it. Would also like to know if I can possible just be able to but the transmission?
I figure it would probbaly be easier to just do the whole motor. If you have any other leads on a motor please feel free to post here. I really would appreciate it. I have googled a few things but under 250CC PUSH ROD CHINESE MOTOR. But get a lot of mixed results such as alot of the OHC stuff. anyway. 20653 miles is about all she could take.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information

Last time I looked at that engine on Ebay it said sold so I guessed you got it.

Wanna hear how it performs compared to the original motor once you get it broken in.

I noticed the same seller has a Dong Fang engine for sale, LOL I wonder what bike it came out of?

df250rtb, if you cannot solve the engine problem, you might consider a new engine, due to the cost.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
I got excited about it too but unfortunately that engine is local pickup only in LA CA.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
I got the battery mounted and finally got the bike to start and sort of idle if I used the stock mesh intake it would idle super high if I opened the choke at all so I used a sponge from a temperpedic mattress topper to restrict some of the airflow and that worked a little.
Attachment 18702
but I cannot figure out how to adjust the idle either the idle screw is messed up or I'm adjusting the wrong one

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Check the throttle cable under the tank. There is a splitter there that can get unseated. I am in VA for a bit and my DF is in NC. Also the slide in the carb can be installed improperly (backwards) causing high idle..

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Yeah,I bought it. supposed to be here no later than the 15th. Everything seemed to be exact. will keep y'all posted
df250rtb project
My battery comes from Walmart.
My clutch cable is from a Triumph
I made the battery tray I have so the battery would actually fit.
as for the electrical diagram, it should be in the book that was given when you bought the bike?
But I think someone on here has one posted in this thread.. you may need to do some back page research.

ben2go,
Weii I was riding the Dragon this afternoon and came upon these two wrecked bikes.
Seems that an idiot rider ran wide on a curve about mile marker 2 and hit both these bikes.
Attachment 18718
Attachment 18719
You can see my Dong Fang parked behind the Aprilia.
Two of riders including the one who was the idiot were transported to the hospital in Knoxville.
So even though mid week is usually pretty quiet on the Dragon, there is no guaranteed you will not get taken out.
Let me know when you are coming and I will maybe meet you at Deal's Gap Resort.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Hello everyone, been thinking of picking one of these up for a knock around bike and something for my kids to learn on. Where would you suggest as the best place to order one of these. I see a couple of different places out of California and a place on eBay called crtmoto-depot. Any input would be great.
-
Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
The place where I bought my two DF250RTB does not have them anymore.
Best price I have seen is at http://www.superiorpowersports.com/2...f250mc-rtb.htm
$1899.95 plus shipping which brings the total for me in FL to $2130.90
I assume shipping to WI would be a little less?
Don't know anything about the company but buying with Paypal gives you some protection.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
These guys have them also
http://www.powersportsmax.com/index.php/cPath/482
Probably the "couple places out of California" (powersportsmax and the link to superiorpowersports that Barnone posted) you mentioned.
These guys also have them (scroll down) http://www.saferwholesale.com/category-s/139.htm
Let us know how it went!

culcune,
Thanks for the additional places that now have the DF250RTB.
I might sell my DF to a guy who wants it here in the mountains now that they are available again. Wonder what year they are?
I wanna a green one to match my mini hack. Make the DF a US Army model.

I wish I knew the distributor for Dong Fang--my friends out of Excalibur have wholesale/retail licenses, and are always willing to drop ship bikes for people. The catch is they are the US distributors for TGB scooters, so are not as into Chinese products like they used to be; mainly for warranty issue hassles. However, they can generally get prices a little less than even these discount online mail-order firms, or at least the same price, and are a heck of a lot easier to get hold of by phone (they actually answer their phone nearly 100% of the time!!)
As far as year--I believe these are 2016 models because I recently saw them listed on the EPA/DOT list for US certified bikes for model year 2016. I know there were a couple years' gap from when they were last on the list, but seeing them on the list, and all these online retailers advertising them, makes it seem like these are this year's models. All you guys from a few years back who bought them don't have orphan bikes which you have to order parts from Taobao direct from China if we can collectively find the distributor for Dong Fang. I am almost certain they are in So. Cal.
I think the green one would complement your IceBear rig nicely!! If you want, I could see if my friends at Excalibur know who the distributor is, and see what kind of price I could get you. What zip code would you want it shipped to (for shipping cost)?
I am thinking of the cruiser version--the 'conservative' model, since you guys have had good experiences with the 'extreme' bobbers. An entire replacement engine (worse comes to worse) for one of these is not a deal-breaker just as it is not a deal-breaker for any of the enduros.

I'm not in a hurry to replace my existing DF. My friend is just thinking about buying my DF.
