I hate electrics! When it's not something obvious, going thro' the whole methodical palva with the multimeter to verify all components is just soooooo tedious (and time away from the pub). And then it turns out, a few squishes of WD-40 into all the elec connectors (especially the rats nest in the headlamp) is an instant cure! :mwink: ...just as I was about the call in a Priest.
There is a tech article on elec fault finding with flow charts, the works. At first glance it looks difficult but stick with it and you will find the cause - click here for the pdf download.
You have to be very methodical and write down everything you do like a check list cos if the thing goes on over several days you just forget what you've done and/or miss something (trust me, I've been there). It is a pain in the butt, but stick with it and you'll get there. You can have one heck of a good drink once you've cracked it!
If you aint got a multimeter, B&Q do a brill digital one (forget analogue) ideal for motorcycles for about £7.
I have the Haynes motorcycle electrics manual - worth every penny of the £16! :icon10:
PS. If you take the bike to a garage they won't do anymore than you can - except a big invoice. Especially if it's a muppet place.
Isn't that the "DT-830..." family? same product @ flea-bay is just £3.xx (UK seller)
