The LED have a built in resistor, they use less then 12v, the bank of lights are set to the resistor. They would connect to the same terminal the voltage is reduced within the LED assembly, ie the resistor.

Change to a led friendly "Unit" (some can works even at ~0.1w) + cheap LED bulb is the esaiest solution
