There was a section with a steep incline, but i think it was used for cars only. I don't think the bikes have to set off from an incline, especially seeing as there's no clutch control. I'll keep posting as i progress.

I passed the final motorbike test this morning. My license is on it's way.
It'll take another 2 weeks to arrive.
The final test was over a narrow beam, in and out of some cones, around a tight S bend and then up a ramp. You have to stop half way up the ramp behind a white line, but clutch control on the hill start is simple as their isn't a clutch, just twist and go.
Plenty of people fell of the beam today, but the intsructor gave them a 2nd chance at it. If you make another mistake then you fail and have to pay for another test and wait at least another month. 5 people failed today out of 15.
Congratulations, Dewsnap! Am I misremembering or did you accomplish this whole process in about half the time that you'd originally estimated? So now you are in pole position for a fantastic riding season!
PS, you'll have to do away with that triumph avatar and go with the raptor!
cheers
Haha, i would if it wasn't so ugly.
Another congrats Dewsnap! Good for you to persevere and become legal.
I was somewhat surprised that 5 failed. I had been under an impression that everyone passes. At least that has been some of the reports out of Beijing. Perhaps Shanghai is making an effort to be legitimate.
I was also surprised to see that the written exam had a question that says "If it is under overhaul, a motorized vehicle does not require the relevant registration." Really? Hmmmm. So, if I have a bike which I claim is "under overhaul," and I'm just out "road testing" it, I don't need to register it? I've heard this story/rumor before, but thought it was just more expat-fluff. Maybe not.
Two weeks isn't long - and once your license is in hand, you'll quickly forget about the waiting period.
