Thanks Bojer, I didn't know that, or else just remembered it wrong.

I won't bother too much about prepareing a toolkit, you will never be ready if you keep thinking about preparing. If you want to try that, have a look here

Just pack enough underwear and start off. You will know what you've forgot when you need it, and then you will promptly forget it when you have a chance to get it.
The good news is your bike is very common here. And from my experience, it's difficult to find unpopulated areas here. Where there are people, there are bike mechanics.. everywhere.
Good advice from slabo. There are stores just about everywhere in the world.

I don't think you will have too many altitude issues in southern China, very few places over 3500 meters. Although there are a lot of places to pick up parts and service, as slabo mentioned, it's always nice to be prepared.
Cheers!

After studying lonely planet i decided it'll be to the north and northeast, so at least not the high altitude mountains
?? Northeast? What could you possibly see there? Dalian is quiet nice, excellent sea food. I spent almost 2 years in dreadful Shenyang, I don't think it's a good idea to go there. But inner Mongolia is another story. That would be awesome.
