New rider in Tianjin

As mentioned in dannys Tianjin-thread, it is not possible to legally plate a bike within the city. But since you are in Dagang, it should be possible.
Regarding dealers, inside Tianjin I only know of a grandma who accidently sells some random 125CC bikes among the Electric Bike dealers in Tiantai Lu and the Harley Dealer in Meijiang.
In Proximity you have the motorbike dealers in Tanggu, but I would advise to stay clear. You can't be sure where the bikes are coming from, who owned it before (or maybe still owns it, technically) and who exchanged which part with what. Not a good base for a 'legal' plated bike.

There is also a Suzuki dealer (I think in that area?) who can service motorcycles, maybe they can sell them, too. Phone number is 022-83988380.

And we will always have... Beijing. Qili Motors (near Jiugong) in Beijing has CFM and a lot of other bikes, BeijingRiders works too, if you don't speak chinese (or just unable to locate Qili), but I don't think they have CFM (but Benelli).

dannythewahl and me both have our bikes licensed in Beijing, also since we live inside the bike-ban area in Tianjin.

Qili motors is also in my contacts list. Maybe I will go there next weekend, but today I'm going to ming fan in SH to check out a second hand (but I unregistered) CF and try to figure out how to plate it. By the way, maybe I need to do a similar trick to yours, but I don't quite understand how it works.
Anyway, got the driving license, found a legal bike, I'm almost there! See you soon around Tianjin!

Once again. Thanks to everybody for your advice.
Bikerdoc, I was at Jeff's Mingfan. I can get a fapiao with my name for the second hand but unregistered CF650, but it will cost me 12% of the amount. i was considering asking the current owner to plate it and then transfer it, but even a C plate is about 20k rmb, and I won't need it in Tianjin-dagang.
Transportation is also a headache, one company I contacted said the bike needs to be in its original box, bla, bla, bla.... Price undetermined, but at least 1500, need to ask the manager, bla, bla, bla....
At this point, I think my best choice is to get it from Qili in south Beijing.
LJH, is this the shop you recommended and offered to put me in contact with? I may go tomorrow, got the phone? Is there a clear route from there to south of Tianjin?
JD, is this the shop you bought yours? They helped with the registration? How does it work?

Yes, Qili is probably your best bet in Beijing for a CF Moto. The phone number is (10) 8796 3770. If possible, talk to Mr Han. BTW, don't expect any discounts for knowing me ... hahaha ... even though I've bought several bikes from Han, and sent several other buyers to him, I think the best I've ever got was a free bottle of water ... once. But I like the place because it is high volume, and it is zero BS (very rare in China).

If you are driving, Qili is just inside the South 5th Ring Road. To select your best route, Qili's Google Map coordinates are:

If you are coming by train, transfer onto the Beijing subway (2 rmb to anywhere), and find Line 5, and head South to the Jiugong Station on Line 5. Come out of the station (there is only one exit), turn right (walk West), and it is about 300 meters down the road, just past the intersection with the traffic light. Can't miss it.

Qili can take care of all your registration, plating & insurance requirements.

Gorka, I see on the Beijingriders website that JayDee linked in post #11, Beijingers have listed a used Benelli 600 for sale for 37K, not sure if you are in the market for one of those or if you have seen it. My mate has a brand new BJ600 for sale too, also without a plate, but the difference is the fapiao will be issued in the buyers name. His asking price is also 37K (AFAIK this is the total price). One of our friends owns a Benelli dealership here, and my mates extended family & a few friends have bought BJ600's from this shop. The fapiao for the new owner will be issued from this Benelli dealer. The bike is advertised in the for sale section on MCM.

In regards to transporting the Brazilian guys unplated but otherwise legal 650NK from SH I recommend you deal with Deppon. I've used them, they will build a wooden crate for the bike (they will charge you for it). Deppon have two delivery options in terms of speed, fast and faster, with the latter being more expensive. Deppon also can collect and deliver to your residence, for an extra cost, or you can deliver the bike to one of the logistics centres and have it delivered to the nearest one at the destination end. Deppon cost much more than other freighting companies I'm sure, but they are about as painless a transporter as one can get - TIC! and very professional outfit.

One last thing is, the bikes fuel tank has to be near enough empty.

As for the SH 650NK you looked at, just factor in the costs and deduct these from the asking price;

• shipping via Deppon at around 2K,
• 12% tax to get a fapiao in your name (though I question this, if the original buyer has a fapiao and the tax has been paid already then you don't need to pay the tax a second time. The question is, has the Brazilian guy already paid the sales taxes etc? or did he just buy the bike from a dealer and ride the 650NK around without having paid the tax and without a plate?)
• any incidental costs, e.g. travel etc.

The problem about the fapiao is that a new one with my name is required by Tianjin bureau for registration. I showed them the existing one, with Allan's name but rejected it. So now Jeff agrees to issue a new one , but there is a cost to it (I was also hoping he could amends the existing one for a small charge)
I may try deppon later, this was TNT. I hoped it would work because they already delivered a e-moped for me before, Woden crate, same route, 1000 rmb. Anyway, I asked Allan to work that out.
The Benelli looks nice, but I prefer a twin and it looks the cf is more reliable. I am also considering taking the bile back to Spain later and find a partner for importing it there in a near future.
I'm going to Jeff's later, will try to get a final total quote.

Whatever price you can work out with Jeff for the used 650NK in SH'ers (I'd assume the tax will be based on the sales fapiao), add it all together, allow for about 2K for shipping via Deppon (way better than TNT - IMO), then deduct from Allan's asking price. You're not low balling him, just that is what it costs to you.

Yup, I hear ya... still Allan's had his bike advertised for many months so there's every chance he might bite even with a low offer. At the end of the day any other buyer will be looking at a similar scenario or thereabouts, give or take. Best thing Allan can do, is go get that bike plated (沪C). He needs to get it done... then it will make it a far more attractive buying proposition and overall much simpler IMO. It's worth mentioning that to him when you discuss the situation with him, and might explain why his bike has not sold before now.

Bikerdoc, thanks for posting the clue in the first place. Yes, I didi push down the price, to compensate the added costs in fapiao re.issue and transport. The bike is now on its way to Tianjin-Dagang. I know its moving becuase I get a call from the alarm every five minutes. And I must say that Allan, the seller, has been ever so helpful and empatic during the process, even when we had to wait for so long for the transport guys Jeff had arranged, and I completely trust the bike is fine, from what i have tested, and his behaviour.
