Hey guys!
I put a 2000rmb deposit on a dark-grey 2011 YBR 250 at a Yamaha dealership here in Zibo last week. They say it will arrive on Monday or maybe Tuesday. I hope it arrives on Monday so that I can get comfortable with it before the last 'day off' on Tuesday. ZMC888, myself and maybe some others will go out for a ride that Tuesday provided that all goes well.
With the help of an old Chinese friend's persuasive techniques, the dealer agreed to 23,780rmb.
-2000rmb deposit = 21,780
I have 15,000 in the bank = 6,780
My boss owes me 6,800 for rent. He says He'll get it to me before Monday but I can't count on that.
My wife and I have 4,500 in a joint bank account but I forgot the pin and will have to travel down to the bank in her hometown in order to get that sorted.
Maybe I can scrounge from some close friends in the event that my boss doesn't pull through (which often happens).

Excellent choice with the YBR Pete. Congrats. I'd have loved to have gone down that road but my budget just wouldn't allow.
We're both getting new bikes around the same time, so we can compare how the Raptor holds up from new against the YBR.
I'll look forward to some pics of your new ride.

I wish it had a twin engine like your Raptor but I heard that the YBR makes up for it in other areas.
I'm going to do a review and will provide plenty of pics. I'll look to the senior advice of ZMC888 while doing the review as he has much more experience than me and is also very keen to take my YBR for a spin when I do get it.

Fantastic news Pete, congratulations! We are in need of a proper review of the YBR250 on this forum, it has become one of the only legal players left in the field right now in china and yet you may be the first on MCM to actually get one! Please proceed!

Yeah, surprising that Felix. All these experienced China riders on MCM and nobody owns a YBR 250.
You're pretty lucky Pete to be under the tutorlage of ZMC, he definitely seems to know his bikes. I'll certainly be hoping for a ZMC comparison of the two bikes, his Raptor thread is legendary. Look forward to your pics and review mate, the YBR is in a different class to the Raptor.

Hey everybody
It's late and I'm tired so I'm not going to begin a new thread about this just yet but I wish to inform everyone that I am now short of 23,600rmb and plus one up on a beautiful YBR 250 :naughty:. I went to the shop today, paid the money by card (my boss got the money to me late but better than never) and they cracked open the box.
It took them about an hour to unbolt it from the box frame, charge the battery, fix on all the bits and pieces like the handlebars and front wheel and another hour and a half to fill out all the docs they need for my license plates which should be ready by Monday 11th.
I drove it from the dealership back to my friend's nearby workshop where it is now safely (I pray) sitting. I'll keep it there until Monday when it'll get plated up and ready to roll. During the very short ride of approximately half a kilometer I felt completely euphoric and terrified at the same time :eekers:. It's such a comfortable bike and the engine sounds beautiful; much better than I expected a single to sound. I've never ridden anything bigger than my crappy JD150-15:bs: and the YBR felt like a superbike to me. I didn't get it past second gear on the little ride. It has a lot of pickup! At one point, I was in 2nd and meant to put it up into third but, instead, slammed it back down into first by mistake; the rear wheel spun out to the right a little bit as the revs flew up and the tire regained traction... I loved every second of it.
Pictures to follow shortly. Look out for the little grinding spheres on the bottom of the pegs for when leaning at steep angles. The pegs are also spring loaded so that they can flex up in the event that you want to lean SUPER low.

This is all very exciting. I can feel your joy. It must be agonising to have it sitting in the garage for another week!

Yes Felix it is agonising! I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight. I just want to ride it again... didn't even get it into 3rd gear :gaah:.
I remember ChinaV's post about his YG250-6 and knew that it should be trickled charged but by the time I caught sight of the battery it was already almost full and too late.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but did they put your shifter on with the action backwards? I've had that a few times with different bikes where the mechanic sets it up so that pushing down cycles the gears up to 5th and pulling up cycles the gears back down to 1st. Or maybe you like it that way?:rolleyes1: (Race bike style)
If so, it's really easy to fix, if not, please ignore. :thumbsup:

Make sure you check the little things like chain tension and tire pressure...dealers usually have them set wrong.

Nuhaus. The YBR250 is down into first then up for the rest, the way a motorbike should be... or so I've heard.
My previous bike/piece of crap was the JD150-15 which had a super easy, childlike gear system with a forward peddle and backward peddle. You could push forward to go up from neutral through to fifth then up again to go back into neutral. My mistake on the Yamaha was due to my inexperience.
