Andy, you do know you could have just bought the SMC model in the UK?:lol8:
I bet it was more fun this way!!
Just a quick post to let you Guys know, the bike is now in my possession, it was delivered on Friday, and I put it together on Sunday.....bloody hell ! It actually arrived ! There were a lot of times when I thought, I’ve just handed $1400 over to an unknown manufacturer in China, with no come back, and I don’t know if I’ll ever see my bike, or my money again ! But fair play to Galaxy, they came through in the end...although it did take 3 months to manufacture !
I’ll write a detailed post with pictures in the next few days when I get a bit of time....(I’ve been very busy with family stuff), but first impressions of the XTR are very good, a couple of small problems with it, but nothing I can’t sort out. More to follow....
Cheers

anyway Congrat-s! Glad your bike finally with you.
Andy,
I am making a visit to the factory Monday. Any thing you want me to help communicate, please let me know.
By the way, congratulations! Not all Chinese are crooks ;oP

Hi Franki,
Thanks for the kind offer, I really appreciate it. There are a couple of things I need to know:-
- Could you ask them to send me an English owners handbook.
- The bike came with an exhaust with an oxygen sensor fitted, they also sent me a more powerfull exhaust without an oxygen sensor. I'd like to fir the more powerfull pipe but am worried that it will upset the bikes ECU ??
- What is the running in peiod for the bike ?
Thanks again Franki
Cheers

Hi Andy,
I am in factory now and got your answers as follows:
1. Galaxy will send you an English owner's manual by e=mail as soon as Lidia is back in office.
2. If the performance exhaust has an oxygen sensor port, please install the oxygen sensor back. If there is no oxygen sensor port, you need to install one locally and put the sensor back. It is not advisable to run the bike without the sensor installed.
3. The running in period is 2000km. Oil change at 300, 600, 1000 and 2000km. 1500km oil change there after. If you use full synthetic oil, you can stretch it to 2000km interval.
I hope I have advised you well.
Franki
What a great story! Makes me think that with modern communications there is no reason why we shouldn't all do such things, internet and many people using english as trade language makes such things possible. Ebay helps too, for example I just got an aerial and co-axial lead shipped from Shanghai to Australia foir half the price (and same quality) as most offered here. Sometimes you have to get friends to do the shipping, strangely many USA companies will not ship goods even to Aus. but mates have purchased stuff for me over there 9clothes and archery equipment) and posted it. I know we are meant to be patriotic and support home-based industries but I think of myself as more of an Internationalist (otherwise known as poor, which is a subjective and relative concept).
The main problem would be any need for warranty and parts backup but that is why good dealers/suppliers grow in the market, many people will pay for protection and support. If that support doesn't exist where unscrupulous dealers try to make a quick buck on the price differentials, it is a good route Andy chose. Well done, lets see the pics and lets hope it is an enjoyable machine to ride.
Hi Franki,
That's great ! Thanks for helping me out, I really appreciate it.
Best Wishes
Andy
Franki, here's the BOMB of a question... they got a service manual for the bike?

Andy,
What are your thoughts on the FI for the XTR? Maybe you can hook up with an SMC rider and test the carb'd version sometime.
