It does not seem to be an EGR….it never gets hot no part of the configuration ever gets hot. It does not seem possible that it re-circulates exhaust. I wondered about that because the part of the line to the airbox is rubber and it would melt under exhaust heat. So would the plastic airbox, exhaust gas is hot.
If that device only adds air to dilute the exhaust so that its parts per million are acceptable its retarded to have it.
It’s giving me a headache thinking about it….that’s what it is for… to make my brain hurt.
MJH,
It injects air so that combustion takes place in the exhaust port to reduce unburned gas. Had the same type device on my Kawasaki W650 and other bikes. Plugging it made the bike run cooler. Also reduced bluing of chrome exhaust pipes since it reduced the exhaust temp.
It is not an EGR valve and its not a PAIR valve, it is a secondary air intake, it oxidizes the exhaust chamber, that would be when the exhaust valve is closed, then when the exhaust valve opens it releases its hot burning gases into an oxidized chamber then continue to burn. It causes the engine to run hotter and cleaner.
I will discus it with HMF when I take the bike in for a new muffler. If I take that off would it be dirty and would I have more carbon building up down stream. It’s a trade off cleaner and hotter or cooler and dirtier.
I suppose any concern about polluting would be unpopular…..I’m conflicted I hate to become a hedonist and in my case also a hypocrite, because I know what is bad about dirty exhaust.
I would make sure you cap off the air intake and the vacuum line, those being unsealed on dirt bike can bring about some problems. Something that cannot come off, its a way for water and dirt to get in.
Hey sorry to butt in but anybody know the valve specs on my 2007 qingqi 200. Oh and somthing else I've always wondered, Has anybody tried a heads up race with a XF/XP or qingqi 200 against the DR200. Im wondering how much if any that 2mm smaller carb hurts it. Lovin the info guys, keep it up.
I went to a motorsports place earlier this week....
aaaaaaaah it's a bit of heaven, I got to see the suzuki dr400sm. If you've never seen it, switch tabs and google it up. Yep thats drool coming from your mouth. :)
After looking at the dr200, I really dont see a reason why you literally couldn't use engine cylinder and head from it on the xf200. That being said, bigger carb and jet probly means more peppy throttle.
MJH, you're gunna throw some pics up on here after that pipe, right?
I almost forgot... UPDATE: I installed a #135 jet and it is still borderline lean. As I did some searching the mikuni jets can have a deviation af about +/- 10 jet sizes. Whaaaaaaaaaat?!? Meaning the 135 I put in there could be 125-145, I'm thinking probly closer to 125.
You be the judge: (left and right side)

Hey My People!
I've seen much better color on the plug with the 135main jet. Although the WOT is lean, the low and mid range are perfect, so I'll leave it along for now.
I just installed a rear sprocket from a '81 suzuki ts125. The 44tooth made the ride much better. I'm sittin at a solid 6k rpms at 55mph. Acceleration seems about the same accept I can stay in each gear much longer. I also have a sprocket specialist 16tooth front, but I guess I dont have the tools to get it off. It's a 24mm nut and my little impact wrench isnt able to help me out.
I'll keep you posted...
I've got to update.
My XF200 has got the following and is pretty darn snappy and enjoyable.
- viper race muffler. (people are right, a new muffler makes a lot of difference.)
- 44t rear sprocket
- 16t front sprocket
- 135 main jet
The viper race can produces a very powerfull deep bass-y sounding roar. It sounds pretty close to a dr400sm that rides around my town. It's still pretty quiet at idle and is moderate at mid throttle, but when you open it up, wooowsers! She belts out a hell of a roar, it's my first bike so I can only base this one ones I've heared. It's quite enjoyable sounding.
The new gearing is a must as I'm sure you owners out there know. I now am hitting 55mph at 5600rpms or so. Much better there.
Solid mods to the bike. With the QingQi for sale at the price, I'm not sure why anyone would want to pay over 3k for a DR200...except maybe parts support.
CC
I havent a clue. Dare I say, the dr200 is a little ugly in comparison. Upon looking at the dr200's engine, there doesnt seem to be a reason that an engine rebuild (piston & up) would not be exact fit.Quote:

links?
This would be the updated pictures of the new exhaust. I've kinda got a funky rig going on right now because I wanted to get it on there and riding before it snows.
Yep, that is a copper fitting; it's an unheard of 2" to 1.25" reducer. The reason I didnt get a pipe that fits is because the price was right. I was on ebay about 8 days ago and saw this viper race can. These are going for $300-400 bucks, but there was an auction with no bids, no reserve, free shipping, but there were 8 days left with no buy it now. I thought that I'll throw a silly bid and move on. 8 days passed and I'm freaking out because there is an item that I apparently won, so I thought my account was hacked. It was the race can, $81 with free shipping, so I made it work.
There is also the vapor computer pics as well.

Well done! Thats a good win that! I've been looking for a muffler myself on Ebay Aus but all I have seen is a chinese can for $50, trouble is it needs a 55 to 38 mm reducer and I can't find one anywhere! Not sure I could beat one out of copper but might try as it worked for you, that is a great idea!
I made the migration to Florida and brought the XF200. Also I converted her to a KTM.:lol8:

Nice looking bike dirtypickle. I'm going to be test riding my new china bike shortly. I didn't see and of the stuff on mine but then it is a 2008 and maybe they snuck it in under the EPA radar. I will be posting some pictures of mine during assembly after I get done with the Thanksgiving thing. I road through part of Minnasota this past summer on my BMW. Maybe you saw me....LOL

Wow, aren't these bikes just purdy! Probly did see your BMW, but there seems to be an abundance of those here. I think I did see an xf200 the other day but the stop lights wouldn't let me catch up to see for sure. It's winter now and am already itching like crazy to ride again. ::Thumbs down:: to minnesota... boooo
It's not much better here in Michigan. Today is a balmy 40F. I'm trying to put the rest of my bike together so I can take it for a toad rest. I had to run to Lowe's. Seems some of the fasteners I needed weren't in the box of junk. I was trying to follow the directions and just gave up. I'm just putting it together the way it looks like it should fit ... LOL. Later, just had a late lunch now back to work.
A service Manual is a Nice helper for these bikes. My Buddy is a Dealer so I picked up a ENGLISH Version Service manual for $20.
I'm sure we would all bow to you if you somehow got that online for us. :)
I'm working on that for you! LOL Just got to find some time as the manual is Thick! :)
JTC,
That manual would be appreciated. Does your buddy have any more for $20? I could scan part of it.
I'll see what I can do this weekend.......Looks like a Sunday Job!.....Watch for it!
yeah I was wondering the same thing. Itz ok if you dont wanna, but jus wondering.
I have just Purchased a 2009 Pulse Adrenaline.

I'm looking to make it faster - I have ordered this end can and have arranged to have a full stainless pipe system made by a friend

I hope to change the sprockes to the 44/16 mix. What else can I do to bring this machine to life?
Welcome! Paint it matte black and put a red stripe down the side and it will go much faster. You are doing the two most immediate things, you will have to enrich the mix a bit and maybe play with the air inlet. A few owners of them on here, someone will chip in with something useful probably.
