Titus dont even get me started on Scooter Depot
I read a good portion of the DF250RTB thread. It's astounding what you/us/we put up with. Most companies would probably be out of business with this level of customer support. I guess the rock bottom prices make us overlook it and jump through all kinds of ridiculous hoops to get our hands on one of their products.
Someone at scooterdepot finally responded to my question about what color bike they shipped me.
"Black or blue."
lol
I called scooter depot just now and they said my order has actually not been placed yet. They say the bike is only available in orange. I canceled my order. Orange isn't even an option on their website! omfg
You should probably check your wallet, just to be sure it's still there, and then have a long shower to wash away the sleaze.
Sheesh.
It is really hard to get past the hoptions, like first choice of color and then second choice?
????
Seriously if you are selling inventory online then there should be a database linked to what you actually have!
As one of a certain color gets sold then it gets removed from the list….actually just tagged as sold and then no longer on the list of available.
These people are they using an abacas to count with? With one hand while eating cabbage with the other? While arguing with their mother in law?
They often set up adds for models they do not have and often with prices below that of others offering similar types….it seems to be some distorted imaginary competition?
This may help or not?
You go to Shanghais and arrive at the hotel…the bellhop takes your bags to the room. Then asks “ would you like some tea? You respond “yes“. Then the bellhop asks “would you like Chinese or English tea”? You respond “Chinese tea” Then the bellhop says “ sorry we have no Chinese tea” You respond “ but you just offered me a choice” and the bellhop replies “ it is the hotels policy to always offer guests an hoption”.
Not sure why….but that is China, it is as if they have no foresight? Makes you go hmmm…you think anyone could see where this is going…yet they seem to have no concern about the corner they are heading into?
MJH,
May I have a puff of what you are smoking?
He is not ordering the bike from China.
So they told me I could have the DF250RTA in any color (which I don't like), or the DF250RTC in orange now or another color in 4 - 6 weeks. Since I don't want to blow the summer and get pissed off looks and gestures from drivers on my 50cc for the next 2 months, I told them fine, send me the orange. Sigh. At least I might have some fun riding this summer.
Oh, and they finally sent me the MSO and Bill of Sale for my 50cc. Only a month late. Do they store them in their grandmother's attic?
MJH,
What you are talking about is e-commerce 101. I remember in the mid 90s when all these commercial websites were going active. There were issues with stock from brick and mortar locations, advance into the real late 90s and those issues were resolved linking the brick and mortar to the e-stores with real time active stock management.
What really puts sand in my pants is that we are now 20+ yrs with this tech. It is commonplace to link this information with not only the brick and mortar locations but distribution centers and suppliers to better aid the consumer. I personally have designed and built whole Point of Sales networks for some smaller shops which link all the fore mentioned. ScooterDespot or SunnySports or whatever name that they are calling themselves on the net has a large online mall with no substance and all flash.
they have currently 5 or more websites under different names offing the same inventory but the brick and mortar location has no insight to the e-stores. The service is substandard and they cannot deliver what is advertised. Be it the actual "working" product, support, or the claims listed for legality in certain states. Yet they remain in business because they will undercut the competition including other "Dealers" that they supply product to.
I have had a rough education with this, no one really carries the product and they rely on the distribution center to dropship. They do not carry readily available replacement parts to cover warranty issues and will drag out the consumer through a waiting game forcing you, the consumer, to handle all issues. For some that is fine and they are content with a basket case that they need to tinker with. the rest of us expect a product as stated at point of purchase.
Now granted people will vocalize and write when things do not go their way and you will hear and read more negative than positive, but so far everyone that I have had correspondence with or have spoken to have actually had more negative, with the company v the product, dealings than not.
i had a friend actually stop at their showroom in CA to do a bit of recon, and they actually tried to sell him non CA legal products Shows you the type of people and service that we, the consumer, have to deal with.
Okay I’m done rant over.
Too true, Gardo.
If the stars could only align just long enough... If just a handful of workers in Chino, CA were not high just long enough to place *my* order...
I believe the product is fine. If only I can get through the brick wall that is their sales operation. Yes, I really want the 250cc street bike with dual front and single rear ABS disc brakes. Do I need to submit blood samples? Do I need to write an essay on why I want this bike? Do they want my first born? Wait, I thought it was I who was paying them? Sheesh.
Just sent this to scooterdespot.

D250RTC - Automatic transmission? Really?
"Fully Automatic Transmission:**Scooters are a great vehicle for those first-time-riders or for anyone who doesn't want to worry about changing gears. The fully automatic transmission is very simple to use and provides a stress free ride."
You sure about that? *Seems like false advertising. Just look at the pictures. Are those fake gear shift pedals?
This has been a point of contention for a few years now with alot of these sites--not the fact that Chinese business people own many of these places, but how customers are treated. There have been numerous threads when chinariders.net first began how some places treated people and the follow-through, etc. Ironically, some people were treated just fine and got what they wanted :confused1:
What you guys need to do is to file complaints with the California Better Business Bureau...California is very pro-citizen versus pro-business so you guys need to use that to your advantage; I guarantee things will be done quickly and much more to your satisfaction once they are contacted by the BBB. It couldn't hurt to go higher to the attorney general if you are not satisfied....

Under California Code you actually have to have taken a material loss due to false advertising to take action.

Hmm, this is strange. I can no longer find the DF 250 RTC on scooterdepot.us. It used to be right in the "Motorcycles" page near the D250RTA. It's just ... gone! But there are still vestiges of it because I can pull up the same bike from happyscooters.com (i think they're really scooterdepot as well). Here's url for the RTC on happyscooters: http://www.happyscooters.com/product...&cat=37&page=1
Now here's why I say I think they're really the same company. If I just insert http://www.scooterdepot.us in front of the productid/category/page description, now it looks just exactly like it's scooterdepot that carries the DF 250 RTC again? Try it, it's very strange: http://www.scooterdepot.us/product.p...&cat=37&page=1. Yet, there it looks like they pulled the bike from their website.
And if you call scooterdepot (like I did on Friday), you'll find that they carry the RTC, just not in any of the colors mentioned on the (now defunct) web page: blue, black, red, yellow. Nor do they carry it in the color that every picture was taken of it in: white. They say they have it in stock and only in orange. So I ordered one. It's just odd that now it would seem they no longer carry it. Maybe they pulled the page down (at least dereferenced it) because of all the discrepancies. Who knows....? Be great to actually get someone from scooterdepot/happyscooters/extrememotorsales (who interestingly enough calls the RTC a "SX250R" on their site)/countyimports/however many other aliases they have/etc on here to address some of our concerns and issues and just generally make us feel better and safer doing business with them. Does anyone know if anyone from any of these organizations has ever identified themselves here and discussed any of the issues folks have had?
Gosh, it's such a perfect, sunny, 75 F day here in Colorado. And only my gutless 50cc to ride and get in the way of other very rude and a-hole drivers. Did I mention my GF was run off the rode 4 weeks ago by a lady while driving our 2 day old 50cc? Broke her collar bone in 2 places. She's still on heavy pain meds. I can't believe people. And they've done nearly the same to me. I pull over when I can to let drivers go past when on a single lane road. But when you can't do that and you're only going 35 in a 40 zone, does that really merit getting cutoff? Sheesh.
Well, anyway, here's what I have on order now:

Titus,
Funny, I ordered my DF250RTB from
http://www.extremescooters.biz/250cc...r-chopper.aspx
which is just a drop shipper.
Sunny Powersports
http://www.sunnymotor.com/index.php?cPath=29
(who I guess is the warehouse supplier and probably owns all these drop shippers) sent me a DF250RTC by mistake in white like the above. I sent it back and finally got my DF250RTB.
The C was a nice looking bike.
Yeah, Sunny now also calls it a MC_D250SX
#3031 250cc MC_D250SX
Talk about mass confusion.
BTW, sorry to hear about your girlfriend. The 50cc scooters are not safe in traffic. My friend was riding his Honda Metro 50cc with me ( I was on my SYM HD200) and everybody was pissed at us. Cussing us out and cutting us off. I told my friend that I was not going to ride with him anymore.
Well, shit I shoulda just ordered from Sunny Powersports and skipped the middle men. One less set of poorly functioning brains that have to sift through all that complex information, like model number, color, bill of sale. :p
Yup. I'm taking it to my scooter guy who owns his own scooter shop who said he take it off my hands. If my GF ever wants to ride again, then I'll trade it in for a 150cc. If she doesn't (understandable) then I'll just sell it to my guy. Although I think she wants to ride around with me. So once I get the RTC, and she is finally healed, I think she'll want the scoot. But no way I'm ever letting her on a 50cc again. Thank god for helmets.
Barnone, I did have a question for you. A while back MJH wrote about the RTC:
In your experience, and given you have a 227cc engine as well, do you fully agree with that statement?Quote:
Fine for tooling around city streets, learning how to master shifting etc. I would never ever take it on the highway.
" Fine for tooling around city streets, learning how to master shifting etc. I would never ever take it on the highway."
"In your experience, and given you have a 227cc engine as well, do you fully agree with that statement?"
If MJH is talking about a Interstate Highway, I agree completely. The 229cc push rod is fine for a 55 MPH road but would be unsafe on a 70 MPH highway. Of course you could do it but not me. I want at least 500cc or more.
Actually, I don't want to ride a motorcycle on an Interstate like the ones around Atlanta anyway. Son of a bitches will cut you off and run over you in a minute.
You being in Denver really hurts the performance of these small displacement bikes. My DF had to be down shifted to fourth to make the grade at 5300'.
I don't know if Sunny sells direct. I think you have to buy from one of their retail dealers.
titus, I have a question. Why would you get this bike when you could get a used Ninja 250 for about the same price?
Gardo,
Why buy a Heist or a Dang Fong Bobber when you can but a Sportster, Shadow, Virago, etc for about the same money?:lol8:
He is going to get orange something?
Look at this B2B add….
http://laughingliu.en.hisupplier.com/
Notice the name of the contact.
There's something about owning a vehicle from day 1. I insist on only full synthetic oil in my engines, for example. Who knows how the used bike was treated. I know at least with a new bike that it'll be well taken care of and last me a long, long time. I can't say the same for a used bike.
Makes total sense. I doubt I'd ever take it on the interstates here. But we have plenty of mountain roads that are 55 mph or less that would be fantastic to ride on. From one fourteener to another. Through Rocky Mountain National Park... I can't wait to get it into the mountains. You don't need speed up there. Even my 50cc, once tuned for altitude could get me up to 45 on flat roadway. I think she'll tune out just fine for altitude.
thats pretty much was my thinking. I just was curious if anyone else thought the same way.
My buddy bought a trike from these guys, took a while to get the MSO but he was able to Reg it in NJ take a look

Gardo,
Neat looking trike. Get your buddy to start a thread here on his experience with the trike.
Not a bad idea Vince, he's decked it out nice. he's a blade smith and has done some nice add ons to the trike.
If you make an issue of the add saying automatic...they may send you an automatic.
