I've just changed to an iridium plug, new air and oil filter and changed to semi-synthetic oil so just wondering if anyone has had any reliability issues with the revvier engine characteristics as the new CDI is on my shopping list!
cheers
Ian:thumbsup:
I don't have too many miles since I installed the CDI on my XP200 but reliability seems to be the same. The revs do tend to be smoother with the new CDI and the bike top speed seemed to increase a little. Seems smoother overall and a bit perkier. Not sure if the new CDI ort a new exhaust would be the best way to gain performance but for $65 I can't complain. I'll try it on my XF200 next which has the FMF exhaust.

Re: Performance CDI for Qingqi QM200GY (Qlink XF200, STX, etc)
Hi Nimbus,
Thanks for that. I'll definitely be buying one of these little beauties then based on your comments and Forchetto's excellent write up. I was asking about reliability as I'm now a little concerned after reading Ed209's post and his use of semi-synthetic oil here - http://www.mychinamoto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=988
I've got the P&P pipe already fitted and am trying to get any extra power from I can but don't want to risk trashing my engine.

Re: Performance CDI for Qingqi QM200GY (Qlink XF200, STX, etc)
I'm not sure that the synthetic engine oil caused his problems. I think the 300kms of riding a brand new engine at full throttle would have had more to do with it. :icon10:
Any oil will work well as long as it's changed regularly. If you find yourself really running up the gears a lot, it may be good to make a sprocket/gearing change. Any engine will blow up if pushed too hard.

Re: Performance CDI for Qingqi QM200GY (Qlink XF200, STX, etc)
Yeah I hope reliability won't be an issue if my brain is engaged. You don't use synth until the engine is well worn in if at all and yeah the high revs probably would cause issues. I vary my speeds and ride local roads. These are definitely not speed demons. I feel nervous riding on highways and avoid them. I'll be curious to see how the XF200 with the new sprockets (though I don't know which ones it was switched to yet because I have yet to pick the bike up) and exhaust runs compared to my almost stock XP200. My experience with the XP200 has been nothing but positive. For the price (especially the $1400 I paid for the XF200!) these bikes can't be beat.

Re: Performance CDI for Qingqi QM200GY (Qlink XF200, STX, etc)
Cheers Carl, Nimbus...you've put my mind at rest a bit there. My changing to semi-synth has been done after 3000 trouble free kms so hopefully my motor should be nicely bedded in. One observation was that the oil I removed was much blacker than I would've expected at such low miles...running a bit rich perhaps?
Other than that I've done all the 'standard' mods most of the members on here do to the QM200 - P&P can, couple of teeth smaller rear sprocket, pillion pegs removed, iridium plug etc. The new CDI will be the cherry on the cake I think then I need to save up for some stickier tyres in time for spring! :icon10:
Thanks chaps

QM200GY the orignial cdi is made in KOKUSAN,lANGFANG, CHina, they supply all kinds of electrical parts for chinese bikes, but they didn't sell to the market directly.

Sometimes companies will have guys who sell things out of "back-doors" and make the product available through other channels. I wonder if the mighty Ali Baba will tell all. :icon10:
Were you also looking to replace your CDI ?

Re: Programmable CDI Qingqi QM200 (Qlink, STX, Sinnis, etc)
Typical - I'm all ready to order my CDI, go to the Xian website and it says they've ceased trading!
That's a real shame as they seemed like a good little company and now I'm struggling to find another supplier for performance parts...I did see Forchetto's post about Xian Racing relaunching as Xian Ltd/Kamikaze Pro Ltd - anyone heard anymore about this or have any suggestions who might be stocking upgrade parts in the UK?
cheers

Re: Programmable CDI Qingqi QM200 (Qlink, STX, Sinnis, etc)
Well looks like no clear answers! I did however find the web page for the Denko folks. Unfortunately since I don't have a CDI in front of me I can't tell which one it is.
Take a look and see if you can match up the model unit. It may not solve your problem but might give someone and idea of where to start.

Likewise, has anyone confirmed if a DR200 CDI box will work?

Re: Programmable CDI Qingqi QM200 (Qlink, STX, Sinnis, etc)
first QM200 ( brazil sundown )is just a suzuki GS125 or GN125 chinese copy of it ( bored and stroked) uses Digital EPROM DC CDI , ... it has the best curve possible with about 25 to 30 advance from idle ...i think more advance not possible on even 97 octane gasoline , so to me it can not get better than that ( on gasoline .. )
if you think you need more advance , just advance it 1mm on ROTOR or STATOR but it may need more expensive fuel = waste of $ ,to me special cdi not required for this model
other option , you can use GN250 CDI ( same amount of advance but earlier advance ) maybe better suitable for 200cc then 125cc
i run 89 fuel only in china
if i want speed , go to lighter wheel and tyre and cams ,useing expensive fuel is not efficent to me ...
as far as BRAZIL thier petrol is %25 alchole plus they have %100 alchole so they need another curve , more advance , but they burn more fuel , again its waste and not efficent to me.
all other chinese engines use AC units ( CG or CB ) , they advance 20 degree from idle , most horizental engines has no curve at all .. thats why they benefit from one ..

Re: Programmable CDI Qingqi QM200 (Qlink, STX, Sinnis, etc)
IPX,
Thanks for the information! Have you tested the Suzuki 125 and 250 cdi's on the Qingqi/Sundown/Qlink bikes?

Re: Programmable CDI Qingqi QM200 (Qlink, STX, Sinnis, etc)
they use suzuki 125 cdi , so its same , tried it , run same , with GN250 i couldnt tell much of difference , got all the curves mapped out with timing light ;
GN250 , advance start at 2000 rpm go to max advance at about 3200 , total raised 25 degree from idle to 3200
GN125 = Qingqi ,is exavtly same as above but it go to full advance few hundred rpm later about 3600 rpm
as far as i know no chinese bikes have rev limit but cdi seller lie to you to sell things .. or they dont know better
here is how you test it to know if your engine/fuel combination likes more advance
just slot the holes on pick up coil bracket with dremel and advance timing 1mm to oposite direction of rotor , see if you like the results .. if you do go another 1mm , till it start knocking , no need to pay for expensive cdi
to find power you need a new camshaft or reprofile stock cam , you can get them from HOTCAM or WEBCAMSHAFT etc , etc , cost about $100
camshaft seems to be same as dr125 , i think not same as dr200

Re: Programmable CDI Qingqi QM200 (Qlink, STX, Sinnis, etc)
The description of their company on the bottom of the page is quite informative...
Quote:
We have been trading since 2003, we are both a Limited company and VAT registered, hence fully registered with HM Customs and companies house. Company No. 05363335 Motobikespares has worked with Chinese machines since early 2003 and have traded machines and parts since 2004. We have a huge catalogue of parts, spares, upgrades and performance bits for a selection of machines. We source from several suppliers from here in the UK and directly from manufacturers abroad. We work hard to dispatch orders on time, and offer reliable delivery and tracking, so you are always sure of the status of your order. Prices are monitored constantly so that competitive prices are offered at motobikespares, We also offer a before purchase price match policy to insure this, in most cases even if the price match is not in the UK. We generally operarate as a parts warehousem our main focus is to source, stock and sell parts hence the technical support we can offer is limited.
May not be bad for someone to give them a call and see what they gotz.

Re: Programmable CDI Qingqi QM200 (Qlink, STX, Sinnis, etc)
Done approx 7k kms with mine fitted......65km round trip to work every day includinmg motorway travel. Totally reliable and a definate advantage over the standard CDI.
Pity I can't say the same fore the Procircuit T4 exhaust which the end can has fallen apart on twice now!!! The pulsing from the exhaust hammers the end plate causing the rivet holes to elongate and deposit the silencers guts all over the road!

I would say it would worthwhile if you have aftermarket exhaust and rejetting but for a stock setup I wouldn't bother. I have both and tested the CDI on both.

Re: Programmable CDI Qingqi QM200 (Qlink, STX, Sinnis, etc)
Is it a must to run higher octane with this CDI? Would it hurt if you sometimes ran 87? Also is this CDI going to decrease the life of the motor by much? I know you can't say for certain but I am kinda new to all this.

Re: Performance CDI for Qingqi QM200GY (Qlink XF200, STX, etc)
UPDATE: Just sent another email to the Ebay seller in the UK requesting information on if I could get his shipped to the USA. Here's the response I got less than 1 min later....

No

That's a pretty lackluster and disappointing response. I honestly can't believe someone would just respond with "No" and nothing else. Why wouldn't you want to make money? On top of it all on their FAQ it said to email about shipping rates to the USA. I'm pretty annoyed with this response and not just because it's a no. Pretty poor customer servce if you ask me.
I've tried emailing this ebay seller about a week ago, as well as the email address listed on the page as a contact and still haven't had any responses. I know the seller must still be active because of recet listings and feedback left. I am in the USA and was wanting to get a quote on getting one shipped to the USA. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get in contact with these guys or get one of these CDIs?

Re: Performance CDI for Qingqi QM200GY (Qlink XF200, STX, etc)
Hey all, sorry to drag up an old post. Did anyone ever advance the timing by the pick ups? Any idea how far you can go and if it's worth doing?
And does anyone know of any CDI for sale please?
Thanks for your help.. Craig T :D

Will report back once I have tested it. Craig T :D

GS200 (bored out GS125) is the colloquial chinese term for that Qingqi machine .
GS250 made by ZS is based from Yamaha machine. These REAL or clone don't compitable w/ mainstream programable CDI . http://www.gydz992.com/bbs1/read.php?tid=1791

Have you had any personal experience with that CDI humanbeing? I guess I'm wondering about how it compares to the Kamikaze. Got any links to some chinese forums reviewing it? I really appreciate the help.
Craig posted in this thread that the same CDI you linked was for the GY6 scooter...is this true?

Helped my dyslexia cousin order that "en2" around Easter & repeat the install instruction orally for his Suzi GN125 workhorse . I don't hold mainland China dl but "illegal" midnight "test" rides... tells difference in performance.:naughty:

Sorry, I appreciate the help but I don't understand what you're saying...lol The EN3 Four Curse CDI would be the equivalent of the Kamikaze RM200 Pro? Would a CDI like this be good to run permanently on an XF200 even on along trip? I just would hate to get the thing shipped all the way here and pay for it and it not be of use. I really wish I could read Chinese, the translation only does so much :P
