Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
NJ has some weird rules concerning vehicles. As where I got the NHTSA information is that i called them to check whenI had issues registering the bike and was informed by an agent that their registration is up. Thats when i contacted Scooter Depot and the next part of that mess had commenced.
Barnone as per your posts and riding the bike it needed to be tweaked, new sprocket and jets are tweaks.
I dont know why you distaste CCW so much Vince, not once in this thread did I say that the DF was a horrible machine. All rigid frames look a like at the tail but its the rake that makes them different. Some guys in the MC community compare it also to a Triumph. I ride a Heist and you ride a DF, we both ride. that should be enough.
I respect you and your knowledge and am happy that your bike worked out. But even you had doubts in the beginning and had encouraged us to stay away till you got it straightened out. I remind anyone that before their purchase just check first with the DMV to be sure and if its cool have fun and go for it.
Its all about the ride, be cool, ride safe, and enjoy it.

Funny that, looks like this guy may have been checking out the thread
I just love that they all keep calling it a softail "Pro Street Softail Single Downtube 2" Backbone Stretch 38° Rake Neck"

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
We shouldn't have an issue regging the bike in NY, but like gordo said NJ is weird and there are about 4-5 states that require the manufacture to be registers with the state or they will refuse you a title, and the Dong Fang hasn't renewed their license in NJ. The actual Co. is Ningbo something something something Ill look it up later on my MSO and give you the exact name of the manufacture. I would suggest you call the Tech Department of DMV and give them a VIN # (Gordo has one he can post) and see if the bike can be regged in your state.

Gardo,
I don't have anything against CCW and hope they stay in business.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
The ebay seller lists the colors as:
Colors: Black, Blue, Dark grey, Silver.
I guess dark gray is the flat black or satan black listed on other sites.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
The 200cc kikkers are also up there. They are not claiming they are legal: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Other...item3cb7df7bbf

Come on you bobber fanatics you need to get out more! Remember this is not a site just for these weird machines and the freaks who love them so much! Get over to the ride report threads, look at the amazing pictures and scenery put up recently by in China riders of other chinabikes, and say g'day more often and support the other members! We enjoy your antics and your own pics and vids but you seem a bit too exclusive, join in please.

The frame is too short for the engine and had to be shoe horned in the frame.

jape,
What? I'll stay away awhile. Heading to North Carolina on Saturday so will post some ride reports.
EDIT: My migration to NC has been delayed for a week or so.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
This is a quote from: http://www.oldschoolhardknock.com/ about the new models. They have "250cc" engines now.
First off, the frame is 4" longer to fit the 250cc V-twin engine comfortably. Increased the wheel rim size from 15" to 16" making the new Hardknock even longer and a little taller.
I like the suicide shift and the red rims with white walls. Would this be difficult to do on the DF? I also like the idea of building the whole kit, but not if it can't be street legal.

Any pictures of a 6 foot tall guy on one of these yet? I would like to see how foolish I would look.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Called the DMV and my insurance company here in MA. They cannot give me an bit of help without a VIN # so I guess i'm just going to have to wait and see. I sent an email to the web site I want to get it from. It's listed there for 1800 cheapest I have seen. I have asked them if it IS legal in MA. I will be saving the email for paypal in case I have issues once I get the bike

Which web site is that? I think there is a VIN # listed earlier in this thread.

Not you Vince! You always spread yourself around and without you this amazing thread wouldn't exist - no, a pointer to all the newbies to look around the site and see all the diversity and ability of china-bikes and china-riders, broaden their horizons. They're going to need something to do on wet weekends sitting at home in the LaZBoy, nursing their crushed testicles and pissing blood from their mashed kidneys. Bourbon don't cure everything you know, I tried it!

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Hey guys, my apologies for not officially introducing myself yet, but since I don't have a chinese bike yet there is little point.
Anyway, I've been following this thread for a while now and was wondering if anybody knows if they ship to South Africa?

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Cleveland Cycle Werks bobbers are officially imported and sold in SA; not sure of the Dong Fang bike, though. Contact the manufacturer...

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
CCW did copy the heist only put lager wheels on it for the most part, CCW used to be in business with kikker, but Kelly Kikker fuct them over and they broke off and started ot make legal bike a where the Kelly Kikker is being investigated on how he even got his bikes in the country let alone put bullshit VIN#'s on them and bogus MSO's. I do however think the kikker is the most sexy bike I have every laid my eyes on and its a shame they are 100% illegal =(
I was actually looking at getting one of those before I found the DF and the only thing that stopped me wasnt not wanting to jump through 1000's of hoops to get a kikker regged and I also read all over the place they just fall apart when your riding them :P

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
good day men, I have a df sprocket question. on the rear sprocket if I grab it a 3 & 9 o'clock I can move it back & forth. I can see some space between the sprocket & the big washer next to the c-clip. is this normal for this bike. should I try to shim it up? thanks for the input.

The DF is a full size bike so I guess you would not look anymore foolish than me at 6' 215bs.

How much movement are you noticing? Do you have an after market sprocket? Are the nuts tight?
I just went out and checked the rear sprocket and don't feel any play. Seems like when I had it apart to change the rear sprocket, it seemed to be a floating arrangement so you might be able to feel a little movement. It was a little tricky to get reassembled properly but it's been a while since I changed the sprocket.

Bob,
What web site has the $1800 price for the DF? I bought mine from Chad at http://www.extremescooters.biz/250cc...r-chopper.aspx for $2199.99 and that included shipping to my house.

So you are saying that the Heist is a copy of the Hardknock 200? Sure looks like it to me. Are they made in the same factory?

LOL! There are some wild inaccuracies here. CCW was NEVER in business w/ Kikker. Period. Don't believe everything you read on internet. It seems all the CCW vs Kikker information comes from Kikker fans/owners/disgruntled ex-dealers etc. The bikes are similar in that they are bobbers. It ends there.
Scotty built a custom Kikker years ago and Kikker fans grabbed onto this and claimed it was photos of the early versions of the Heist. Just stirring the pot basically.
The Kikker is a great looking bike. I have nothing against it and have recently seen some builds of the new larger frame bikes. Simply awesome work from some of those guys. The Kikkers will fall apart if you put do not properly put them together.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
This is the cheapest one that I have seen:
http://www.expressatvs.com/prodcusto...linenumber=622
It comes to $2020 with residential shipping. $1895 if you can get it shipped somewhere that is a commercial address with a loading dock. (I wonder if one of the farms around the corner has a loading dock and then I can roll it down the road to my house).
If there is still a cheaper site, I'd be interested to see it.
Edit: They added $183.05 shipping & $7 insurance upon checkout.
