Re: what this bike should have been from the start
If I was to make a slightly educated guess, as I wrote about the whole lineup being found on one certificate, the seemingly same engines are NOT the same engines, LOL. You wrote above your theory, so combine the two, and my guess is they are fudging the EPA!

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
I just want to say that I appreciate all the years of information this thread has given me. Whether it be deemed by some as incorrect or perhaps even the backyard mechanic way it has helped in one form or another. For the record as well. I have a friend who goes to the salt flats with a buddy of his who runs his suzuki there. He checks his spokes every run... by tapping them with a wrench to hear the right pitch.
Anyway. The information always finds a way to help out. Making it easier for me to actual search out what I need. So all information is always taken with a grain of salt. For the simple reason ,from my view, I am the one doing the work. If I feel it to be a bit iffy, then I double and triple check. When it feels right, I do it.
Now onto other things. i still require the size of the front axle( bolt) would it be 12mm or 15mm? I am looking other speedo gears and they have different sizes. Thanks.
-
Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
bow,
I went out and took the nut off the front axle and on the threads it measures a little bit less the 15mm so I would say it is a 15mm shaft. Definitely not a 12mm shaft.
No guarantee!:lol8:

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
You the man Bar. Thanks. I was figuring it to be that, as most of the research I have done pegs the 12mm for scooters.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Sold my DF today to a happy new owner in Naples Fl. He took it for a test ride and was satisfied with the bike.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information

Wow--end of an era of sorts! You started this thread; this thread is the longest and most read thread here on mychinamoto!! Not that the thread will go away, but it will be different with you not being here, or at least having a bobber.

I saw this bike on St. Louis Craigslist. Guy claims 450cc. Is that a "Frankenstein" Chinese engine? To me, the bottom end looks like a standard OHC Chinese 250. Any idea on the top end? Attachment 19968Attachment 19969

Real hard to id the engine, or bike for that matter, given these pics.
What i can tell you is that if you identify the bottom end, you will identify the top end, No 1 top end has ever ever fit into any 2 engines, that im aware.
Even a big bores is made to fit only one bottom, that im aware.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
before i trash my perfectly working bottom end, any one need any parts off it?
again its the stock DF 167fmm, let me know your terms and well see if it makes sense for us.
thats everything from the bottom end including starter, and exhaust pipe, carb, ect...
also I have one of the original aluminum push rods,
a set of OEM quality steel push rods,
and a set of aftermarket steel push rods.
you will not likely find push rods ANYWHERE, afaik...

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Anyone know where to get replacement rear sprockets! Spring is coming fast and I need to change the stock sprocket! Will the Cleveland cycledorks 39 tooth fit? Doesn't say if it's for a 520 chain! And where can I get a bigger pilot jet?

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Anyone know of weak spots in the electrical system? I know Previously Barnone mentioned there were no fuses on the bike. Checked the voltage on my battery and shes good, but absolutely no power to the bike whatsoever.
-
Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
there actualy is an inline fuse on the red{power}wire from your battery hidding in the fake oil tank. Check that.

How far can you travel on this bike with out problems for the Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber im buying my first bike in 4 days

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Just depends. Make sure you add/change your oil before riding and check to see that everything is tight. If you look through posts, a couple of long time riders have gone significant distances on the DF. The only limitation is the small gas tank.

How many miles can u get on a tank
-
Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
I have the DF250RTA and the tank holds 2.11 gallons. I would estimate I could go maybe 80-90 miles at most without stopping for gas. If you search through the posts, I think some riders put on larger tanks.
-
Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
I get between 65 and 70 a gallon. I usually stop and fill up every 60-65 ( paranoia maybe?) But it always cost me less than or even with station cost per gallon. My tank is custom, holds a little over two gallons.

Hi, Im new here. I've been searching for a df250rtb and cant find one anywhere. does anyone have any information were I can get one?? thanks !!!

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Your best bet is to try the source to see where they can point you to. If they are out of stock, and have been for a while, they can also let you know that as well. Plus, are more coming or are they sold out for good. http://www.df-motor.com/contact.asp

The Dong Fang DF250RTB has been discontinued by the manufacture! That is the information i have gathered from multiple sources! My buddy just bought a Dong Fang Ghost RTR but so far it is just plagued with problems! My Dong Fang RTB just passed 2k miles and running strong. Free flow exhaust, 110m-42p jetting, .002in-.003ex valves, 38t rear sprocket! 70mph is about it before your pushing the motor to hard! Attachment 20104Attachment 20105

I am back for just a look see at what is going on. I still have the 2015 Ural CT and my only other bike now is a 2009 TU250X.Bought it used several months ago with 1200 miles on it and it is like a new bike. Nice size to ride around here in the mountains. So there is no more new DF250RTBs available? Every place I looked was sold out. I wonder if it was a problem meeting EPA. Still waiting for the Genuine 400cc to be available in the USA. Miss my DF250RTB some.
