Here is a cool mod for these that I just came across. I didn't know this was possible. You can find it on ebay for about $20.

Other,
I don't know if there is a better price out there for the DF. Mine was $2199.99 home delivery.
Most drivers will work with you. You got a feed store that you do business with?
For what ever it is worth that site only has a 30-Day Standard Warranty vs the 12 month warranty at http://www.extremescooters.biz/250cc...r-chopper.aspx
They did send me another tank no charge since mine had a very slight leak which I repaired so I now have a spare tank.
I like what you have said about that company. I am leaning that way if I go with one of these. I am thinking that if I could find out if there is actually a place selling them for $1800, then I might be able to talk the other place down a little.
Right now, for the $2200 price, I have seen some used bobbers with some more power from brands that I know are reliable and that I can find parts for. (Not exactly what I want though).
I don't see where finding parts will be a big issue with these simple bobbers. Besides how many parts do you need? People are always asking me where I get parts for my China bikes. What parts I ask? They don't know the answer. Just what they heard?
Anyway, yes you can buy a less expensive used bike so go that way if you are more comfortable.
I should have posted this before:

Barnone, I took the sprocket off this weekend. after looking at it I seen that the one side had a raised side on it. I put that side out & that solved my problem. she is nice and tight now. I took a 100 mile ride today. have 250 miles on her. have a great week.
Barnone, no pics yet, but I will try to work on it. I live in northern minnesota about 75 miles from canada.
Culcune,
Thanks for the link, I actually found them last week, but forgot to mail them lol
For the sake of interest I'll found out pricing etc and post it here, maybe there are other South Africans interested.
andy,
You need to post that information on Gardo's Heist thread at http://www.mychinamoto.com/forums/sh...a-Heist/page17
Thanks
Thanks for keeping the thread on track, Barnone  I do think that the CCW info would be appropriate on Gardo's thread especially to someone else from SA.
BTW, andy, did you ever find anyone selling the Dong Fangs in SA?
Barnone, thanks for the tip. ;-)
Culcune, sadly no, looks like I can only get tha heist here. Pricing with the current exchange rate comes out to US$3700 roughly, so I guess I best start saving some money! lol
anyone run the df at night? my headlight is real dim. when I apply the brake it brightens up a little bit. at idle it seems ok but when I rev it up some it starts to dim.thanks
reporon,
I'll try my DF tonight and report back.
thanks Barnone
reporen.
Right now my DF has the small bulb (parking light?) and the headlight always on. Your headlight is coming on right?
I hadn't ridden my DF at night lately so I didn't want to comment on the headlight I until refreshed my memory which I did just now. The low and high beam seem fine to me, probably only a 35w light. I do need to adjust it up a little.
The switch on the right side has three positions which don't do anything since we have a USA model that requires the headlight to be on all the time. I might investigate changing the wiring so the switch works with headlight off, small bulb on(parking light?), headlight on.
Barnone, the small parking light comes on with the turn of the key. the main headlight comes on once the motor is started. here is what i did yesterday. test battery before starting, 13volts. start motor 13volts at idle. bring up rpm's volts go to 15. I then check volts at the headlight at idle, 13volts. bring up rpm's and volts drop to 10. I am guessing my problem is the rectifier (is this the voltage regulator)? Does this sound right to you? Thanks.
You have 15 volts at the battery when the engine rpm is raised but only 10 volts at the headlight? Sounds like to me that the charging system is working properly.
That is strange and needs some more though before parts are swapped out.
The owner's manual has a wiring diagram that needs to be studied.
What is causing the voltage drop of 5 volts?
Barnone, I thought possibly a bad ground. so I ran a jumper to a good ground and found no difference. I have been looking at the wiring diagram. I am stumped.
Where did you measure the voltage at the headlight? Was the voltage the same on low and high beam? Try a different bulb?
I would see what happens when you run wires from the battery directly to the light. If you still have an issue then the problem is the light and you don't have to go through all the wiring. (I doubt thats it though).
Different bulb is a good idea to try too. Try all the easiest stuff first. If you can just use a more powerful bulb, then you may not even need to worry about it unless you later on find out that there is a short draining your battery. Even then, you can install one of those battery cut off switches so the battery doesn't drain when the bike sits for a few days. I put one of those on my plow truck because one of the previous owners screwed up the wiring so much that it would be a nightmare to find what is causing a slow drain on the battery.
I took it right at the bulb. did not check the diff. from the hi to low beam. I could try a diff. bulb. I wonder if I could pull power directly from the battery (with an inline fuse) just to check if this makes a diff.
reporon,
The above is still true? "when I rev it up some it starts to dim"
Good problem. So when the voltage increases (15V) then the headlight dims? In order for the headlight to dim then the resistance somewhere in the circuit has to increase. Have you observed the tail light dimming?
yes, when I bring up the rpm's the headlight still dims. I have not noticed if the taillight dims. I will check that. I did notice that when I apply the brake the headlight brightens up a bit.
What about the dimmer switch being bad?
dimmer switch works.
Barnone are you in NC now? cant wait to see the pics and read your ride reports in the mountains.
