Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
That headlight can be wired/spliced in. But you might want to consider a couple of relays and heavier gauge wire for the increased wattage. Maybe you can get away with stock, but the switches will be at risk.(too small a gauge wire) Do not forget... you are dealing with a MINIMAL electric system.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
It has been proven, that too small a gauge wire will cut the light output of the bulb. Especially the higher wattage ones (100/80 etc.)
Add horns to that also...
Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Somewhere back quite a few pages I explained that I put a automobile headlamp into the canaster and it fits right in.I had to get a different connector plug for it, but wired it in no problem. Now I have High and low beams with a glass automobile bulb. easy to replace than those little bulbs that came with the bike.I am going to upgrade it to a high wattage soon, but for now it is still the 35w low I cannot remember what the high is. You can find them at auto zone for like $15.
I truly like all the cool work everyone is doing to their ride..lots of cool stuff, and flash.I myself am after the dirty rat look, so although all the cool ideas show shiny stuff they all look great on this bike..I will take pics of mine as I get other things on it. I think the only trouble anyone is going to have with this bike is the spokes on the wheels...they seem to rust.Mine has rusted(surface stuff) but like I said ..it is a rat bike so I do not care..but you may want to pay attention to that if you are into keeping a shiny ride. Now i ride rain or shine..in Texas it usually rains when you least expect it so I have no choice. been caught in a few storms since riding. so what ya gonna do.. your wheels get wet..the spokes will rust.
I have been seeing another issue with the bike ..the exhaust gasket sucks. I need to replace mine, may have to make one..a bit thicker. I am getting some blow by now.Plus after riding a few days, you should check your bolts on the exhaust to make sure they are tight.Mine seem to loosen the more I ride. Now I have been riding it for just about a year almost everyday and have ove 8000 miles on it. Mechaically I have only changed the sprocket to a 35 tooth.nothing done to the carb at all, and she runs great, with the exeption of start up. sometimes it takes a while to warm up, nothing crazy..but maybe a couple restarts then she purrs. The front tire needed air yesterday..first time that has happened.
long rides require chain adjustments when I get home..but I attribute that to the bad road conditions and being jarred around all day. But still I cannot seem to get it to stay taunt.
almost time to change the brake pads again, this time both front and back. Seeing a small issue with the peddle for the back brake lately..it is sticking. Not at the peddle but at the brake cylinder plunger itself. Any ideas about that. can it be greased? the boot on it is kinda weathered as well. I will take some snap shots first chance I get and post them to show what I am talking about.
Anyway felt like chiming in even though i haven't rode in a few weeks due to the weather. But 8000 miles and counting and she is still a charm to ride.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Hello My name is Bob and live in Elko NV. I have just got one of these bikes and am glad there is a place to talk about it. It is the newer model and I paid 2,075.00 for it. I put it together and changed the oil, charged the battery and fired it up. Pretty stiff at first but loosened up and ran prretty good after a few miles and a few adjustment to the chain and carb.
The turn signal lights don't work, they stay on instead of blinking. The place that dropped shipped it to me dosen't have a clue on fixing these things and I was hoping one of you might know what's going on or where I might find the flasher before I tear apart everything looking for it.
Sorry for just jumping in here like this but I didn't see a way to start a new letter under this thread.
Here is a picture of the bike.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Hey, thanks for your time.
They may have changed a few things. On mine the throttle side has the kill switch, hazard light switch, and the starter switch. The brake side has the head light, (two position switch, low-high) turn signal switch, and the horn. The yellow switch is a high low flasher. (see Pictures)
When you turn the ignition on the head and tail lights come on. There is no off position for them. Then you have the high beam position.
That all seems to work fine. The head light flickers at idle but shines full when in motion.
The problem is that when you use the turn signals the signal lights come on and stay on, not all four but just the side you switch too. When you use the hazard switch all four come on and stay on, no blinking.
That's why I'm wondering where the flasher is at so I can see if it any good or if it is getting voltage.
The schematic is good but I'd like to go right to the flasher without tearing into anything I don't have to.
Thanks again.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
My buddies turn signals did the same thing so I wiggled the main harness under the tank and it all started to work. Loose wire on a bullet connector no doubt. His horn did not work while it was
mal functioning either. All works now but his tank needs to come off to re-tighten all the wires. Congrats on the bike purchase. Hope you find your problem, should be something simple. Love to see some close up picts of the seat on the new model.
Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
That is a story.
I went looking for something to get me back and forth to work and found these bikes at the scooter store (the old and the new version) I'm sure you are all familiar, but with the shipping and after reading the reviews I looked around a bit more and came up with this place.
http://www.mxmotorsports.us/ProductD...ode=MC-D250RTB
So at the time I sent an email and asked a few questions and pointed out that he had the same pictuers for two different bikes. He said he would give me the higher priced bike for the lower cost if I would buy now so I did. That was on the 11th and the bike was here on Tuesday.
I had the feeling that once you get on of these you are pretty much on your own so I'm glad I found this place.
This bike shipped from sunny motors aka scooter store. I don't know what kind of game they are playing but from the looks of it I won.
