Beijing's air and traffic suck big time, but you guys are so lucky to have those mountains ringing the city on three sides. As we've seen in previous ride reports, I believe there is at least one peak of 3,000m or more within Beijing city limits, west/northwest of town as I recall, with roads up one side and down the other.
Envy!
And thanks for the pix. More please...
Lovely pics guys, thanks a lot for sharing! I hope you realise what some people in the world would give to be but a half day's ride away the great wall of china! It's pretty cool.
Thanks of the report and pics!
As I'm stay in Xingning now (the city is in Meizhou, east of GD.), this my solo ride to Fengshuba reservoir.
The round trip is about 150km.

The first part was fine, concrete road. Xingning is a basin, surrounded by hills. Soon going up hills, at some corners, this is often seem.

At full lean, if you had to straight up the bike to gain traction, you would meet this at some corners. Gravel, sand are drop out of trucks.
I use Google MyMaps to plan my route as seem the 1st picture, it turns out 1 road has a a few hunder meters gap

I had to gone thought extract step by using drawing tool, manually drew lines. (draged road point to X road the result was funny)
When I first contacted the missing road, I saw this, turned out to be fun.
Attachment 3679
My street tire were struggling at off road, gentle on break, no more than 2nd gear, I went thought a a few km off road. No counter steering:riding:
See the famer and water buffalo?

It's going to be on tomorrow..... :naughty::naughty:
Atomic pulleys Lorne ordered on Taobao didn't show up on time, so I spent some 3 hours this afternoon in putting together something lighter and easier to carry than the "rescue" Panzer-style one.
Thanks to him, we now have also a nice 13mm real mountain climbing rope to couple with.
Equipment, along with some bike straps, should do the job once we get deep in shit.
Gosh..... I gotta stop watchin' over and over again the whole 2008-2009-2010 series of Red Bull Romaniacs.... :icon10::icon10:
