The bike is back from Qili, serviced and fixed. Rides great and looks good again. :thumbsup:

Great report and beautiful pictures! I drove some parts of your tour with car in September this year and i must admit, a lot of underskilled drivers with big cars on the road. They all should drive the QQ (poor chinese answer to the SMART) and train the "look-in-the-mirror and look around you"-trick. Advanced training for them would be thinking... ;)

Man.. I was thinking of doing something like this next year. What I've read has really put me off.. I do a lot of rides and you know.. I get some fantastic places and people off the beaten path. I simply totally fucking object to the ridiculous prices they charge to see a rebuilt piece of garbage and can't stand the crowds.. So.. Stuff it.. I'm going to head way down south to the places less travelled. Kudos to you though mate for having put yourself through that..

Hi JayDee, thanks for the useful info on that Shibaoshan temple near Shaxi. I went to check it out two days ago and it didn't disappoint. Loads of monkeys too, which is always a good thing.

yes, I am back on the road and designing our OHR 2014. Kunming - ShangriLa - Kunming. 1700 km, 6 riding days. I am looking forward to visit Weixi on the old Horse-Tea-Road. hidden places are the most desirable ones.

Keep in mind end of the year a ride is being planned from PRC-Laos-Thailand and return... you might be interested?
