Tractor pulling with a motorcycle!

:lol8: It sounds just like Zibo.
I enjoy seeing the odd scooter that is covered with decals from different manufacturing companies: Yamaha-Honda-Ducati-Suzuki... all on the same scooter. They never seem happy with just one brand; they simply must to have them all come together to create the ultimate scooter!
They also seem to have competitions as to who can get the most neon lights to fit on two wheels. They light up the roads nicely at night. This could lead to a number of the street lights being turned off and saving power around the city.
Good news! I got my plates installed today!
AN181... AN in Chinese 安 means peace/peaceful. That isn't always the way that I drive but it definitely suits the sound emitted from the engine, or lack of it.
The code for Zibo is C so on the rear plate it reads CAN181.
CAN!
I gave my friend a ride on the back this evening. Got a nice clear stretch of road and was up to 120kph easily (at 7800rpm), although, not as easily as it could without the extra body on the back but that goes without saying.
240km on the clock now. I think I'm going to take it for a spin with ZMC888 this weekend, sometime on Sunday afternoon when he has time.
:offtopic:To those who are interested; I'm going to be legally married on Monday. All the documents are in place and I'm going down to my wife's home town to get the marriage certificate first thing in the morning. After they stamp the paper we will be married by law :deal:... well, Chinese law.
The family dinner and ceremony has been booked by the father in law for May 30th. I think I'm going to find a few of the traditions uncomfortable but I have complete trust in the family so I'm going to do everything that they instruct me to .
WOW! Congrats! Smart guy ... Yamaha YBR ... Chinese wife ... life is good.
We're your other family. It is a biker-laowai-in-China (BLIC) tradition that you buy ALL the beer during your first year of marriage. OK, maybe I am making that up, but traditions have to start somewhere, right?
Again, congrats!
Hahaha :lol8:. I liked your post so much that I laughed out loud and the wife wanted to know what was funny. I translated it for her and she told me to pass on a message to you: 滚!!!
She loves to swear. I've learned a lot of 'ma hua' from her over the past year :taz:.
Thanks for the comment :icon10:. I like the sound of BLIC. We should all get some kind of 'BLIC' decal made, post it on Taobao and stick it on our bikes.
Actually I did last night, right here outside my home in Wan Fu Jia Yuan. I was just pulling into the apartment complex and roared (like a kitten) passed a parked car in first gear at high revs. Alarm went off and I felt pretty proud of the YBR. Even though the sound is quiet, the vibrations are still powerful... come to think of it that way; the wife did say that the bike felt very 'comfortable'.
It's getting a little bit boring now to be honest :rolleyes1:. I've had the YBR for a couple of weeks and there have been no problems to fix.
A few weeks after getting my new JD150-15 in 2009 I was dealing with a chain that kept coming off, bad rear wheel bearings, a brake pedal that kept going loose by itself, buttons that fell off, mirrors falling off and strange noises that came from god knows where. That was just the first page of a big "catalog of problems" - quoted from ZMC888 during his review of my bike.
I can't say that I'm disappointed, I'm simply not used to a bike with no problems.
Congrats on the wedding and plates mr pete! 滚 is probably the first thing i learned from mrs felix too.

Christ! That decal looks good! You're 厉害!
How did you create that? Is it a secret or some simple program that you have on your PC?
We could actually do this decal thing...
It's no secret, i did it in adobe illustrator. It was a joke on the ongoing MCM Patch thread which you obviously haven't been following!
I believe you are one, but you weren't paying attention!
You'll find the answer here.
Have I shown you all the giant hairnet that came with the YBR?
It's designed to fit around the seat for when you're riding in rainy weather I guess.

It took a while but I have now - finally - replaced all of the photos on this post :icon10:. I originally uploaded this posts photos from a temporary account on 'Smugmug' but I didn't anticipate the fact that the links would die along with my account when the time ran out. My free 'Smugmug' account still has 4 wonderful days left before it expires and when it does I shall keep an eye out for any expired photo links that I didn't replace properly.
:offtopic:-A word regarding the successful upload of my photos onto MCM-
To those who aren't incredibly familiar with this site, I wish to share my experience with you and help you to avoid the waste of time and large amount of frustration that I went through.
After uploading all of my photos onto 'Smugmug', then again onto 'Facebook' and a third time onto 'Flikr' I found the easiest way was just to upload them straight from from my PC onto each post.
I did this using the "Insert image" button which is positioned directly to the right of the envelope "Insert Email Link" button while using the "Go Advanced" option. The same button is found to the right of the world "Insert Link" button on the "Quick Reply" option.
My first problems with uploading on this site began when I tried to upload my photos into albums on my profile. This stopped working after a short while and I was left clueless as to how else to upload photos... I can be fairly stupid sometimes :rolleyes1:.
...with all of that said, I'd like to show you guys my latest photos of the bike with it's plates on. The first four photos include ZMC888's raptor and in one later photo, if you zoom in closely, you might be able to see him in the reflection of my mirrored visor.
The YBR has done just under 400km now and I ride it almost everyday. I'm trying pretty hard to break the engine in sooner rather than later so that I don't have to worry about revving it over 5000rpm for more than a ten seconds at a time.
0-1000 km (0-600 mi)
Avoid prolonged operation above 5000 r/min.
1000-1600 km (500 - 1000 mi)
Avoid prolonged operation above 6000 r/min.
I've only washed it once and that was before I started taking it around some places that might be considered 'off-road' so it looks a bit dirty.

how's the headlamp, still using the stock bulb? Is the light wide enough or is it a narrow beam? Did you try to disconnect any cable and play around behind the headlamp area? On my bike, which has a similar mounting braket and headlamp, it's a real hairy mess in there, especially trying to figure out which wire connects to what, as not all connections use sockets.
Hey Slabo!
I just went out and took these pictures for you. Had the neighbors staring at me from their windows asking each other what that foreigner is doing :weary:.
I am still using the stock bulb and everything else that came stock minus the oil, which was changed at about 150km. I haven't cracked the headlamp open yet so I don't know about the wire situation in there.
I can only guess that it would be far more tidy than the inside of my JD 150-15's headlamp. If an Old English Sheep Dog was made of wires then that's what it would look like.

The high beam (Top-left and bottom-left) seems very narrow and cuts from low to high. The standard headlight (Top-right and bottom-right) is a little low, pretty wide and seems to cut just underneath the windshields of oncoming traffic. A very driver friendly headlight in my opinion. It fills the road up quite nicely as you can see in the top-right picture.

Did a 320km ride with ZMC888 today.
Hit the road at 7am left Zibo and didn't get back until about 2.20pm.
Ride highlights:
> A couple of very aggressive box van/bread van drivers that seemed more eager to run ZMC888 off the road rather than let him overtake :gun_bandana:.
> A scary coach driver in my wing-mirror approaching me at a very high speed :eekers:. After he failed to overtake us he harassed us for a few kilometers until we got to our turn off.
> Got the bike up to 134kph at 8.800rpm against a strong headwind.
Took the YBR around some really tricky roads and quite a few really nice ones. I took only a few photos... couldn't afford to stop and take photos of the most beautiful places .

The YBR:
It handles really well. I had no trouble keeping up with ZMC888 around the corners and I could outrun his Raptor on the straights. The brakes are really good; ten out of ten. I haven't done any real emergency stops yet but I have put them to good use dozens of times so far. Riding the YBR makes me realize exactly how awful the brakes were on my old Jieda cruiser and how unfriendly it was with corners.
This is the first proper ride I've been on since getting the YBR and I was really pleased with it. It was a lot of fun to get out of the city and ride around some of those mountain roads. Today's little adventure took the odometer from 450km to almost 800km and after a few more rides the engine will be fully broken in.
I still don't have any kind of cover to expand the girth of the handlebar grips... my left hand started cramping after the first 100km.
The YBR250 vs DD250G-2.
YBR front brake is 50% better. (Much better than than the CBF150 too).
YBR top speed is 10% better. (140 on tacho seems possible)
YBR acceleration is 10-20% better.
Handling is a bit more tricky to quantify as it's rider dependent something around 10-25% most likely.
This YBR250 really seems like it's worth the money. Fast, easy, comfortable, reliable, could make a great china touring bike! I'm curious though; how does it handle on bad roads with dirt or potholes, compared to the dual sport touring bikes that some of us use?
Thanks for the pics, that dashboard.. ooo. Seems like the only legal and proper commuter bike in China. Too bad there's no DS version.
