There are conflicting stories as to whether or not the Long March XY200GY-7 and XY250GY-2 (X2) have legitimate CCC certificates.
I would be happy to buy a carb version of this bike in China, but EFI...no way.
I had pretty much the same experience as you when I tried getting info from the Shineray reps at the ChongQing show...totally clueless and misinformed.
Cheers!

The mystery of registration laws continues...
I had no idea about C3 certification. Is that the same as "国三“
I asked Shineray for a new cert for my Long March to say that it was "国三“ . Aparently once a bike is "国三“ then the engine and frame serial numbers reflect this making it registerable.

My son and I visited the Canton Fair yesterday to checkout Shineray's booth at the motorcycle exibit and specifically the X5. Seeing as no one from the factory answers any emails I thought this would be a good opportunity to get the low-down on this much anticipated bike directly from a rep. Here are a few of the photos of the x5:

I'm going to the factory on Saturday to test-ride the bike an ask some questions. I'll take along the questions posted on this thread and hopefully someone can answer them.

Take some pictures if possible. And also ask them, when they will start replying emails?

Awesome! Ask them if they'll be making an adventure model. If so, push for a center stand, hand guards, and tourfella panniers stock.
Have fun and keep us posted!

Did you finally go to the factory 2 weeks ago? Didn't see any update from you, so just wondering if there's any news?

Re: The rummored Shineray X5 is coming
First Shineray X5 Grandly Off the Production Line
The long-awaited high-end large displacement dirt bike for rally race--the Shineray X5 (XY400GY) which was decorated with a big red flower officially went off the third production line of Shineray Motorcycle Production Workshop on 3rd August, 2012. Shineray Motorcycle Company's senior leaders including General Manager Mr. Zhang Bin along with its R & D team and production team presented the off-the production-line ceremony.
The chief designer of Shineray X5 Mr. He Weiqi briefly introduced Shineray X5's R & D progress, performance and features, market demands and so on to the crowd on the ceremony. General Manager Mr. Zhang Bin gave a speech about the strategic significance for developing Shineray X5. The first Shineray X5 dirt bike went off the production line amid the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Shineray's senior leaders signed their names on the bike, and took photos together to record this significant moment.
In order to satisfy the strategic development needs of Shineray and meet market demands, Shineray spent more than two years in developing the Shineray X5 which is China's first high-end long-distance dirt bike for rally race. It enriches Shineray's dirt bike product lineup. It also occupies great significance in terms of Shineray's overall products strategy.
Shineray X5 caused a stir as soon as it's displayed on the CIMAMotor 2011 and Canton Fair 2011 by its sturdy body and dominating spirit. It was also given the honorary title '2011 Motorcycle Innovation Results Gold Medal' by the China Industrial Paper Press and China Automobile & Motorcycle Industry Annual Selection Committee. The current model has greatly improved itself in its comfortableness, maneuverability, power performance, utility and all other features than those of the model displayed on the CIMAMotor 2011 and Canton Fair 2011.
Shineray X5 greatly satisfies the demands for featured high-end dirt bikes for rally race both at home and abroad. Shineray X5 adopts frame built-in engine lubricant and large capacity petrol tank design to meet its needs for light weight and long-distance travel. Its quick detachable air filter is easy to be maintained. In terms of its frame, Shineray X5 successfully adopts the design of built-in cooling system by engine lubricant in its frame. A complete set of production techniques and technical regulations was formed after Shineray Daimler Research Institute R & D team's ceaseless efforts, repeated tests and exploration. This also helps accumulate valuable experience for Shineray to manufacture high-end vehicle frames.
Shineray X5 has won many patents. It adopts the powerful 185YMQ 400cc oil-cooled engine which is independently developed by Shineray. Its sports character and fashionable concept of leisure travel are perfectly expressed by its fully dominating appearance design.
In order to meet the requirements of China's third-stage emission control, Shineray is now working together with Siemens China and Synerject to develop EFI system. It's estimated that the EFI system development for Shineray X5 will be completed by year end 2012. It will also accumulate considerable technical experience for the company to develop large displacement motorcycle EFI systems in the future.
The launch of Shineray X5 will inevitably bring a great mass fervor for dirt bike travel in China, push the product upgrade and regeneration of Shineray, and lead technical advance of the industry.
Next, Shineray X5 will endure a rally test starting from Chongqing, and then to Wuhan, Hefei, Nanjing, Shanghai, Dalian, Jilin, Tianjin, Hohhot, Xi'an and then back to Chongqing. To be continued with more exciting news.
The article is off the Shineray website and dated the fourth of August 2012, it reads contradictory as it only claims it is a rally bike and that it is being developed with EFI to meet regulations for commuter use, by the end of the year.

Re: The rummored Shineray X5 is coming
All the manufactures that are not violating the C3 are bitching that others are and that the government is doing nothing to stop them. Shineray is not claiming the bike is C3 yet.
If it is not C3 then its an export bike and only to markets that it meets emissions in, it cannot be exported to the USA as an off road bike if it does not meet the usa emission standards and cannot be considered off-road if it is equipped with street riding features, light, blinkers and a horn.
They try to pass of the dual sports that do not have an emissions certificate in the USA as we speak. They avoid the question or divert from it, when asked is it street legal they say check in your state.
That X5 has great potential but do not get screwed, its not C3 yet if it is then it should be on the website and with that claim, then find the list its on the internet.
I believe it is somewhere in this garbage can…..http://www.chinamotorcycle.com/NewsL...3872441_1.aspx

They could enter that bike, but it would likely get its ass handed to it.
Once again false pride?

Re: The rummored Shineray X5 is coming
Called the seller advertising in taobao (link in Robeta's post above) and was informed that the price listed 元3000 is not the full price, which is expected to be around double that or thereabouts (vaeat here, as the seller wasn't sure what the price would be, it was his "guess") so don't read too much into the price, same with delivery date. Delivery date is expected to be around October 2012. So there you go, I wouldn't get excited since this bike been talked about for so long...

Re: The rummored Shineray X5 is coming
Apparently I did something wrong during the conversion from one currency to another, that is, prices in euros seems too low. :confused1:
How much does cost H5 in euros or US dollars?
-
Re: The rummored Shineray X5 is coming
Simply converting the currency while useful may not be worthwhile for overseas markets since there are many factors to be taken into consideration including the seller not knowing the real MSRP (it hasn't been set. Many vehicles being manufactured in China and sold though normal supply chains e.g. authorised agents cost far more than they do to buy at source (usually). anyway go to www.xe.com/ucc and convert 6000 Chinese Yuan into whatever currency you want. Even if the price was anywhere near CNY6000 I wouldn't be that enthusiastic in China you really do get what you pay for... (way more often than not).

Re: The rummored Shineray X5 is coming
hard to imagine this bike will be 6000 rmb if the x2 is 17000?
also if the RFVC is based on the old honda design meaning radial valves
nothing but trouble ,even honda ditched this idea after a few years
-
Re: The rummored Shineray X5 is coming
Of course that there are many additional costs, but 6000 yuan is 750 euros or so, is really too cheap for a decent 400 cc thumper with EFI, even if it is just the manufacturer's price. As my friend said: What's wrong with it when it is so cheap? I would rather believe that the right price is 26,000 yuan.
-
Re: The rummored Shineray X5 is coming
Just catching up here, you mean to say a 400cc dual sport with all the gear , well nearly all is only 6000 RMB, too hard to believe, maybe its quoted in dollars or euros, even pounds ,lol if that cheap and certified i will open my own shop, i think someone has made a mistake.
look on the web site i posted earlier and look at the stats, i know i says 3000, but i am sure they meant 30,000, however if they say 6000, thats too cheap a something must be not right, maybe the carb version and cant sell it

Re: The rummored Shineray X5 is coming
well I don't believe the price at all. the seller also did say he wasn't sure on the price and it was just his feeling on what the price might be. at the end of this is China, don't take anything literally...

Honda still uses the RFVC in the XR line...
that engine was in the XR400 from 1996 to 2004
-
Re: The rummored Shineray X5 is coming
The Shineray X-5 engine is a copy of the Honda XR400, is it the same engine offered in Japan in 2005?
Attachment 9115
This is Honda statement on that engine….
Powerful, responsive engine
The air-cooled, single-cylinder, 400 cc, OHC, 4-stroke engine employs a radial four-valve combustion chamber (RFVC) structure for excellent combustion efficiency. The 34 mm carburetor diameter and transmission gear ratios, both special-specification, improve intake and exhaust efficiency for superb acceleration at low- to mid-range speeds and powerful engine responsiveness. In addition, the reduced moment of inertia of the ACG rotor improves throttle response. These features add up to an engine not only ideal for city riding, but also powerful enough to endure tough Super Motard races.
Here are the specifications on the engine. (there are power rating discrepancies on the actual rated power from 22kw to 24kw?
It should have about a 30hp engine and if they got it right its not a bad engine, there were some issues with cam mounting screws in early models.
Honda replaced that engine with the water cooled 450 that is being copied by Asia Wing.
It is not a modern engine....but I do not think it is considered by most as a bad design.
-
Re: The rummored Shineray X5 is coming
It was not bad choice for Shineray to bring to the market, It is not likely that technology is under a patent, the design is real close to the modern XR300, but not identical that could get them in trouble for violating the Honda design style, those types of patents on a design are renewable and in that can theoretically never expire.
Importing that to the USA is entirely not a bad idea, they should configure it to the carbureted speciation of the 2004 Honda. Then get it a legitimate EPA certificate and see if they can bring it to the USA through Qlink? That is very possible, but they really need to consider the pricing and also methods used in marketing to dealers.
Qlink could bring that bike into its product line with the X-2, they seem to intend to bring to the USA. They really have to follow federal regulations to the letter these days though, others have really screwed it up with falsifying EPA applications and also not adhering the FMVSS regulations, to include the NHSTA regulation.
-
Re: The rummored Shineray X5 is coming
The price would have to be under $4,000.00 USD for that bike, they would have to be able to offer it for probably about $3,650.00 and then offer sales with another $250.00 off if it did not sell fast.
The X-2 could be $3,150.00 and also offer sales if it did not move.
Qlink needs to lower its prices and start moving inventory again.
They need to bring down the price on the XP/XF to $2,250.00 and then run special if needed on those.
They have to have more offerings and stepped ranges and prices.
They should advertise for each dealer in local papers and cable TV then they will move inventory very fast, many people are not aware of the lowered cost options.
Qlink may want to differentiate the brand names and marketing of their imports, they might want to consider offering each under its Chinese brand name. The Shineray should be offered as XinYuan and that could be abbreviated to XY Motors or XYM as an insignia/trademark. Aligning on that brings about synergy and will elievate all the levels of ego involved and related false pride and falsities in names.
People will eventually except the Chinese motorcycles and better to attain that respect in complete legitimacy. Avoid the hokey names and gimmicks, just identify them and the manufacturer, offer them with full documentation and legitimate support and good prices.
-
Re: The rummored Shineray X5 is coming
MHJ you cant be more rigth on this.Start with the Qlink company wich i consider ones of the few that are trying very hard to stablishe a decent Chinese motorcycle line in the USA.They told me that the price of the Shineray 250 mx will be 3,600. USD.So i figure that the d/p 250 could be around 3,999. or a little bit more. If that is the case they have to be carefull to not to rise close to the new Honda 250 d/p. If they bring the 400 with decent suspesion & quality could sell a lot because this bike (Honda XR 400) have good reputation in USA.Regard to the funny names i am with you too! Its riduclous the kind of name that some importers put on the models and how bad this hurt there products (What they are Thinking),the companies who manufacture this must do something to stop this or the will never get a serious recognition on the market. That is the problem with private labels unless the contract stop doing that. But they just one to sell today even dont sell tomorow! In the history of KTM they strugle to rise the company but never change the name and in the beggining they sell thru Penton in USA but after a couple years they stop them. They knew it will hurt the sales & reputation in the future.

To me this X5 looks like as if it was designed by the same man who designed the Yamaha Tenere, like it is her's younger brother.

Yes it does, except for the beak, Shineray could leave off the beak like front fender.
