Re: Qjiang QJ600GS / Benelli BJ600GS - rumors thread
Three bikes a Jialing, a Benelli/Qjiang and a CFmoto. Which one is my favorite?
-I'm down the 'pub' in England someone says what bike are you riding these days mate?
-If I say Benelli BJ600, I sound like I have a good bike, if I say Jialing I'll get 'wassat, some Chinese rubbish bike?' or CFMoto 'wassat?'
Also I think the Benelli will have done more R&D mileage, and the 2nd hand resale prices will be better.

Who cares what you're riding, you're not 16 years old any more showing off to your buddies right! Furthermore who else in that same pub can say he has been riding a bike in China. I have a couple of friends in the Netherlands who defenitely have nicer bikes, however they barely drive them (a few 1000 km/year). At least I'm out there riding, on a bike they have never seen or heard about.
As for the 3 bikes you mentioned above: Benelli/QJiang BJ600 and CFMoto 650 are kids' bikes for me, barely any bigger than the average nongmin motorcycle in China!
Even the JH600 could have been slightly taller, but then again noone makes bikes my size!

Yep, I share Barry's bias, of course, being that we both own JH600s (albeit in substantially different colors). I've seen and straddled the CFMoto 650 and actually test-ridden the Benelli/QJiang 600, and can concur with Barry's view that both are smallish bikes compared to the Jialing (or any GS or Multistrada or V-Strom or Aprilia Pegaso or most any other serious dual sport). Yes, I get it that these are more in the pseudo-Ninja class of would-be pocket rockets, but under a guy my size (180cm, 90kg) they both feel like 3/4 bikes.
To each his own.
cheers!

Don't believe Euphonius, he's just a really big guy!

You can't make this stuff up.
But of course bigger guys have ridden bikes before - like this one.

Re: Qjiang QJ600GS / Benelli BJ600GS - rumors thread
Barry, it's not all about image, I agree.
But surely the R&D mileage is highest on the Benelli? Also the Benelli is probably the design with the least theft of other peoples ideas.
The CFMoto sounds like a bag of spanners, and admit they have only done a whopping 20,000kms R&D mileage. Jialing can't even make a single properly and probably haven't even worn through the plastic seat cover on their R&D bikes.
I'm exactly the same weight as Euphonius and slightly taller, and I don't find bikes these sizes too small. Small means good for throwing around.

Re: Qjiang QJ600GS / Benelli BJ600GS - rumors thread
From all the 'Chinese' bikes I have seen, the Benelli is by far the best mounted together, by farrrr!
Although it is not a guarantee for the inner workings, it might mean something.
I should buy the 600cc Benelli in a heartbeat, and that from someone who walks away from most "made in China"...

One of the reasons why I like Chinese women, they're so easy to throw around (in the bed). Lightweight :goodtime:

What happened to this thing? Wasn't it supposed to be ripping up the roads of China in 2011?

Guinea pigging China Motos at ¥10-¥20K is one thing, but above ¥45K, and there's no way I would part with my money for anything here. Let's see one of these offered up to the foreign press for review, and a year or two of bug fixes, then it might be fun.
Cheers!

Cheer's to that. I think that topic deserves it's own thread really though.
Let's not stray too far from the thread's subject... I love my 250 and I'm going to use it right up until I can afford the Beneli . It'll probably take me three or more years so from now until then I can review what other buyers say about it and the after-market services that Qjiang provide.

As long as you are happy with the bike you're riding it doesn't matter what others think about it. I'm happy with my JH600, but like to have an additional bike that's a bit lighter and more suited for off-road. So the QJ/BJ600GS isn't what I'm looking for, perhaps a XTR. We'll see!

Re: Qjiang QJ600GS / Benelli BJ600GS - rumors thread
I just came back from the Qjiang dealer in xi'an, after they called me to say the first bike has just arrived. In person it really is a beauty, you can tell it was drawn by a talented designer and not some dude with a parts catalog. I forgot my camera but we have enough pics in this thread already.
The price is 42000 including taxes and everything. That price even includes a legal license plate registered in the buyer's name in Tongchuan city, Shaanxi. For a brand new, gorgeous, totally legal, 4 cylinder 600cc in china i find that attractive.
I looked it over carefully and couldn't find a shoddy detail, the welds are lovely, all screws are torqued and marqued... It's wearing Metzler tires, which the dealer said can be ordered through Qjiang. I was told the EFI is german also, though i didn't recognise the chinese name and it didn't sound like Bosch.
The tank is a disappointing 15L, which won't even get you 250km. (6.5L/100km according to dealer)
The model i saw was marqued Benelli all over, not Qjiang. I asked if there is a difference in the bikes and apparently there is. The benelli has more imported parts, though the dealer couldn't tell me which.
I was previously told that the warranty is 2 years/50000km. Today he told me it's in fact 2 years/30000km.
I asked about maintenance issues that have been brought up in this thread and that's when i started not liking the answers. Here's an outline:
"This bike has much more advanced technology than your other models, is there someone in the dealer that can look after it?"
"yes no problem"
"can you do the valve adjustments after 10000km?"
"no need, this engine can't change"
"what about after 20000km?"
"this bike never needs adjustments, 100000km and it still won't need"
"what about the EFI, is there someone here who knows how to adjust that?"
"no need, this engine is reliable"
"how do you know? it just came out!"
"we guarantee there won't be any problem. You can buy it with peace of mind!"
Yeah, that's really some peace of mind...
So the dealer knows fuck all about this bike or bikes in general and that's not a surprise. I didn't get to try it because it's a preposterous idea to think you can try before you buy. As badly as i may want it, i still don't know if i want to take the risk.
Furthermore, i still question if it's really the bike for me. My recent trips to vietnam and yunnan reminded me how much fun it is to ride through bad, remote terrain on a bike that can handle it. Sure this bike could get through any of those roads but it wouldn't be much fun. Then again, there's some roads that would be heaven to rip up on this little beauty.
Ah indecisions indecisions...

The only proper thing to do is have several bikes, one for each kind of ride.

I really wonder if they will ever ever start to understand what they are doing.
It is indeed a beautiful bike, and a big shame that you should reconsider just because of the lousy dealers.
In general however, maintaining a 4 in line is pretty easy.
Unless you are really clumsy, things like valves can be easily done by yourself, and is actually fun to do.
Perhaps I should start some technical classes
Oh yeah, valves DO need to be checked, although at larger intervals then before.
20.000km for the first time is pretty normal, although with Chinese materials and crappy fuel, I should do a first time inspection half way that.

Re: Qjiang QJ600GS / Benelli BJ600GS - rumors thread
I reckon the wise thing to do right now is just wait and see. I need to stop getting excited about this gamble of a bike and remember i have a perfectly good and legal 250 here already.
If it turns out to be a piece of turd then we'll hear about it, if it's a good bike with good support then it'll still be here next year.
Ps: I don't think that diy valve adjustment for an inline 4 is quite in my reach. I only have experience with air cooled SOHC singles and i managed to ruin one engine already doing the valves...
-
Re: Qjiang QJ600GS / Benelli BJ600GS - rumors thread
+1 wait and see. I'm thinking of buying in 2013 or more likely 2014.
Personally I wouldn't use dealer backup if I got one of these for engine work, I'd just pay someone whose bread and butter is inline fours, usually there is one self-employed guy in every city who is competent, and a few exceptionally good engineer/mechanics in each province, so it's highly unlikely that your local Qjiang dealer is competent. Then they say your bike has no problem if they don't have the skills to fix or maintain/adjust it, or parts. I'd probably only use the dealer for warranty parts, although damn those dealers drag their feet when they have to order any parts, takes weeks or months and constant prodding to get anything. If there was a way to order direct from Qjiang and nominate my own mechanic....

Re: Qjiang QJ600GS / Benelli BJ600GS - rumors thread
I really was considering it, but ChinaV's right. Guinea-pigging a 40k RMB chinabike with no info and not even a test ride before buying is actually not a very wise way to blow two years' savings.
The chinabike industry and it's appalling track record for quality and support is to blame here. If this was a japanese bike i'd dive right in!

I respect that decision and ChinaV's remarks.
Let's see how things go. Someone's bound to buy one even if they aren't a member of this site. Let's keep our eyes open.
It's going to take me several years to save up for one of these and who knows, by then there may be half a dozen other 600+cc bikes available in the PRC!

Re: Qjiang QJ600GS / Benelli BJ600GS - rumors thread
I will go with 2 friends to have a look the coming Saturday.
They are both ppl. with other bikes, got the money, and both were stunned by what they saw on the pictures I sent them.
I myself am in for one, just set the condition that I got to sell one of my trackbikes first.
So who knows, we might end-up with an order for 3 :naughty:
Will be my 2nd look at the bike, will keep you posted on the progress.

Even the reputation of the Italian motorcycle industry for making temperamental beauties even doesn't match that well with me, I prefer Japanese Honda build quality, for grubby daily road grind, rather than living with a princess of a bike more suited to a track, do love tracks though.

I agree, there are generally two types of Chinese riders: no protection stunt rider show-offs who gun the engine from cold, and hyper scared 'smoke and chat' and go for lunch 1-2000kms a year bike polishers.
Also with Chinese buyers I worry that they won't be that objective. Only one guy dismissing the bike for a niggle can upset the whole pack.

Don't worry on me la, I give everyone on this forum a positive feedback, as long as Benelli gives me a decent discount :icon10:

G'Day,
Sounds like another MCM day out.....
Bring your full protection and gear otherwise they won't let you take the demo bike out for spin, they had a demo bike over at the Pubei Road shop around two weeks ago, not sure the bike was / is the same bike as during our little MCM CNY meeting.

Re: Qjiang QJ600GS / Benelli BJ600GS - rumors thread
Wouldn't Benelli/Qjiang be best off doing a bunch of promotional track day test rides? Stick them on a back of a truck and go around China. I for one would love to do a few laps on one, they wouldn't even need to register them or worry about the riders disappearing on them or about crazy traffic!

Two's up on that idea I'd love to do the same thing but I can imagine the majority of the locals getting excited about having an open track to themselves, overdoing it and getting into a real mess. At least in the chaos of city traffic they would feel the comfort of the constant danger restricting them.

Re: Qjiang QJ600GS / Benelli BJ600GS - rumors thread
Wow would be great to have some nice objective reviews of the bike! Go ahead and get it guys, i'm sure it's fine!
I'm often disappointed by chinese reviews/reports of chinese bikes. There's the 2nd generation rich kids who will step off their ducati hypermotard say 'chinese piece of shit' before even looking at it, and then there's the china-is-mighty crowd that will hail it as a triumph of creative genius and technical innovation regardless what it is.
Please, someone tell us what's what!
