No assembly required! Now that's what I call chinabiking with style...
So how's she ride?
cheers
She rides great. Good pick up, started first kick, sounds like a badass Harley coming down the street. Love it!
I was looking through these forums and mabey I missed it, but we're can I order the better chain and 16 tooth sprocket kit from?
Got Tha Heist from Weaver Rides almost two months ago, so naturally I have already started to customize it. First thing I bought was the BAJA Designs speedometer, 37-0002 (like the Shitwizard) and I decided to create a mount that is close to where the original speedo went. Here are some instructions and pics on how I did it in case anyone wants to have a go.
1. Remove the original speedo; use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the plastic case and then cut the wires to the backlight
2. Cut down the original mount to a size that will accommodate the new speedo (use Dremel cut-off wheel, see pic)
3. Drill two holes in the original mount (I used 9/64ths for a #6 machine screw, see pic)
4. Cut the bracket provided From BAJA down to rest flush with the old mount, bring the speedo closer to the original position (use Dremel cut-off wheel, see pic)
5. Mark the new bracket through the holes on the original mount in order to drill holes in the new bracket.
6. Drill the same size holes. This is where I ran into trouble. Because the new bracket is so damn hard, I was unable to drill holes through it with a hand drill and carbide bits. Therefore, I used the same Dremel cut-off wheel to cut two notches in the bracket that allowed me to bolt it to the original mount (see pics)
7. Once holes or notches are cut, connect the two mounts using machine screws, washers and some kind of locking nut (or lock washer and nut).
8. Mount the speedo with BAJA's provided hardware (lock washer and nut).
9. Solder the old wires to the new backlight bulb (red to green, black to brown)
10. Connect the cable and you're ready to go!
I hope this helps anyone who wants to do the same. One suggestion is to use acorn nuts on the back of the bracket and speedo; I think it will look better than what I used.
Anyway, Next project is going to be bar-end mirrors. If anyone has any suggestion for installing those, please post it up or send it my way. Thanks.

Anybody in a state that requires a big ugly inspection sticker to be displayed, like we have in Texas? I am looking for ideas on how to mount it. I hate to see it displayed below the license plate, it covers up the cool bobbed fender. I am thinking about going with a side mount plate, but think it may not go well with the slim profile of the hike. Anybody dealt with this issue and come up with good solution? Thanks
I finally got around too putting up my new pictures. I will have more pictures posted up later.

Heist Owner - nice pics man She looks good on you. the Chain and the sprocket you can get from Weaverrides. Tom is the man he can be reached @ 609 845-8634
or shoot him an email weaver@weaverrides.com and he'll take care of you.
The gearing is a must, does quite a bit to smooth her out.
Sgt. Barrow - pics look great and the bike looks tight next to the HD. As for the Insp. Sticker how big is it NJ doesn't do it any longer but like NY and PA they used to add it to the left side fork boot
ghempo84 - great FAQ and thanks for posting
So I just broke 10000km on my bike, not bad for an 8 month stint. She is running strong and looking good doing it.
Heist owner, the bike looks great, apparently you and I buying these things has caused it to rain for the first time in a year. All of Austin owes us a thank you, lol. Gardo speaks the truth regarding Weaverrides. His mods make these bikes run even better!
Gardo, the inspection sticker is 2.5X3.5". I think I might attach a small side mount off of the rear fender strut just for the inspection sticker and leave the plate on the rear fender. I will experiment around today.
I made an inspection sticker bracket and mounted it as shown. *I used a galvanized hurricane strap for lumber I bought from home depot for two bucks. *I cut off one side and drilled a hole in the other, then used the fender strut bolt to attach it. *The surface area is the exact size of the inpection sticker, so for Texans, this item is perfect. Spray painted it black, except the area where the sticker goes. *Rock solid and worked out well. *I am ready for OCC!http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/...1/3d605c9b.jpghttp://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/...1/70f2fad7.jpg
Sgt Barrow- Yea I know it's been raining soo much now ever since I got my Heist. Why could it rain this last summer when we needed it most? Haha And your bike looks sooo good man I love it! And that side mount idea looks good I'm going to go ahead and do that too mine.
Always the way man in NJ it rained what felt like everyday and night in Aug
Barrow the plate looks good, but beware of vibration snapping it off the bike while in motion. can you take a pic of the backside of it and show how its attached
I left about two inches of metal on the attachment side of the bracket, which rests flush against the flat section of the frame where the strut nut attaches. In this photo you can see I used the strut nut to secure the bracket, plus some locktite. The surface area where the tag is will be placed is angled so it should be pretty aerodynamic, not taking the wind at a 90 degree angle. Tuff to get a good photo, hope this makes sense? BTW - Got some black inch exhaust wrap on today. Should help from keeping the leg and shoe from melting on to the exhaust.

Does anyone have a pic of we're the air fuel mixture screw is on the carb I can't seem too find it.
I'll snap a shot and post it
carb manual
Setting the air fuel screw was always something of a mystery to me. Recently, I picked up a simple digital tachometer/hour meter. Really helped dial that mixture.

Great video man looks damn sexy
Apparently I can't figure out how to post the vid directly on this forum. Thanks for doing it for me, what is the secret?
Got pulled over because of my license plate today. Cop said the angle obstructed the view. What a load of crap. I am sure it had nothing to do with the fact i was in leathers on a bober. Now I remember why I got out of law enforcement....to many dumbasses like that cop still think if you look a certain way you are a criminal....very disappointing. Looks pretty darn visible to me....http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/...1/7f2c38b7.jpg
No Bueno.... Profiling is WRONG hahahehe. Looks plenty visable to Me.
Sarge,
Can't speak to your specific cop, but most of the LEO's I know ride bikes and are fairly cool to bikers.
/M
Most of my buddies are cops, that is why I get so mad. when one bad cop functions in this manner it can cause someone to change their perspective of the entire profession and good cops end up having to deal the results. Anyway, I have gotten over it, I was just venting as I was ticked off at the moment.
Borrow- This is how i got my tag right now. With no drilling and using all the parts that were already on the bike. Im now working on how to mount the tail light too it.

Looks good, if I get hassled by a different cop, I will make the switch, but for now sticking with current configuration. I stopped by the Harley dealer today and drew a crowd. Lots of compliments. Got a lot of riding in today...Time to go put an ice pack on my butt, lol. Gardo is always mentioning air bag seat and kidney belt and I thought he was just a wuss (sorry Gardo, my brother), but he speaks the truth. I put in about 100 miles this morning and am feeling it.http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/...1/ea671fba.jpg
