At least she's got two wheels on the brain instead of four!
And Gardo, I'm having trouble picturing you as an office drone, dude.
Good to know you're in there subverting those nice boring office workers with moto infection.
So i posted in ride prep but no response. I will be riding down to Daytona FL on my Widow in 11 days. getting the Widow ready for the trip. Looking at a 3000 miles, 4870km, round trip I am anticipating a 25hr ride one way which I am hoping to break up in 2 days. Thinking i may try out the Saddle Sore Cert for the ride.
Will be videoing the entire ride and posting while on the road to my FB group or website www.ccwthariders.com
Here's the map
Gardo, that's a seriously hard-core Iron Butt ride on a hard-tail. Damn. Better you than me!
Hey guys,
Finally picked up my Heist last Saturday and I must say I'm thrilled. I've only had the chance to ride it three times since the weather here in SE PA has been chilly at best. I don't know if anyone shares my feelings on the stock turn signals and mirrors, but I just HAD to get rid of them. I really didn't like the el-cheapo chromed plastic mirrors, and the previous owner of this bike must have dropped it at some point because both of the right side turn signal stalks were cracked. I assume these were supposed to have some flex in them, but the rear one was barely holding on. I found a guy on eBay who sells Chinese parts out of California and I decided to go for it.
For less than 50$ shipped I got a set of nice plain round mirrors and 4 new "mini" turn signals. I've got some pictures here if you want to take a look (sorry about the quality, my only camera is on my phone)

I've got some other plans for the bike, but I had a question about exhausts. Is there anything preventing me from just lopping off the exhaust where the pipe starts to flare for the muffler? I really want to get the kick start working, but at the moment I can't afford to get a new set of pipes that will clear it. Anyone have any suggestions?
well guys, im new here and i will be ordering a heist this coming week. Im from galliano, louisiana. I live around where they film swamp people. I want to do an alligator seat if i can. so much to read over here. thanks for all your posts guys. imma start on page one.
Euphonius, its gonna be a challenge for sure but one that i am happily wiling to take up.
NBowen, good to see that you have the bike i like the turn signals, the new mirrors remind me of the tha Misfit mirrors. I usually scour ebay for parts since most metric parts will fit the Heist. I founds tons of stuff on the cheap.
As for the stock muffler there is a cat right at the part were the exhaust flairs. for a nice sound I would chop the last 6" off the back of the pipe just like this

Quick Question... when you remove the CA emissions stuff... are you sure this can be covered completely (as shown in your pic), or should you put maybe a small filter on the end of the original metal piece so it can still breathe? Thanks!

Block of the SAIS port completely otherwise you're just going to have exhaust gases blowing out the filter.
/M
Steeltoe, Just like Bella stated need to block it off completely keep the gasket that is under the SAIS to fit under the plate.
8 days and counting folks, DAYTONA here I come! Picked up another couple cameras to get some different angles.
You will be able to follow my progress on my site www.ccwthariders.com
Dear Gardo,
I can feel your excitement about Daytona. Great way to kick off the riding season, not that you've been holding back.
Question: (probably answered in the blog...) What are you doing to carry your gear? Traveling as a group with a sag wagon or will you rig up some panniers? There ain't a lot of room for luggage...
Looking forward to your updates in advance, during and after the ride.
Cheers!
That is a very good question Euphonius, and one that I am addressing this weekend. to be honest i want to carry as little as possible on the bike. Where i am lucky is that i am staying at my mother-in-Laws place. the plan is to pack a box with what i need and ship it to her on Monday. The smaller essentials I will need on the bike will get tosses into various bags or strapped on the bike.
Tom Weaver offers a block off plate with his Evap kit:

the nice thing about a lot of the stuff he does I tend to get it first LoL
new Blog up guys http://www.ccwthariders.com/1/post/2...week-ever.html
Do you have an "emergency plan" to rescue tha Widow ? (bad weather/snow, north of Mason Dixon line) We all know how the month of March can turn on us.
I would have a back up plan called: smallest U-Haul truck with ramp, to transport the both of you,if condition warrant... GOOD LUCK and enjoy the trip !
Cool idea. I would totally buy a Weaver-prepped RTB250 to park alongside a Weaver-prepped Heist.
Alleykat, if you're really serious, why not just ring up the Weave fer yerself, dood? The worst he can do is simply say no.
Tom Weaver just told me he can do mid-controls for Tha Heist without any problems at all, guys. They may necessitate a custom fabricated high or very low mount exhaust, however.
DF owner , Just found this forum thanks to Gardo. I'm up to the 19th page. You folks have a beautiful bike, here's mineAttachment 6506Attachment 6507
What I'd like to put next to a Heist is a Weaver Rides modified DF that's had all its China-bike quality control issues with wiring and bolts and other junk fixed. I trust Tom Weaver's work almost implicitly, so unless he's worked his juju on one I don't think I'd ever buy a China-bike until they've reached Korean, Taiwanese, or Japanese quality standards.
I spent the day with Tom down at the shop working on a few bikes and getting the Widow ready for the ride. For those that dont know i will be riding to daytona on friday on my Weaver Modded heist. Tom and i have spent the last year working, and reworking my lil darlin. After today's rumble in the shop the Widow has evolved yet again. Will post pics later this week
GunRod the bike looks great and awesome bag placement
