I haven't pulled the cylinder head yet, but I'd like to know if anybody has found a parts supplier for the engine before I try to tear it down.
Per requests, here are photos of the spark plug. It's an NGK plug I had replaced for the original plug.

catastrophic physical damage.
im going to guess you did not have too many miles on the plug, so it was something else.
Your going to have to take the cylinder off and inspect the extent of the damage,
then acquire replacement parts.
That or... just buy my engine

If that 170FMM engine is true, add me in as a buyer.....

Kind of funny answer.:lol8:
Maybe we can get a group buy to lower the price.
Not a very reassuring answer.
i would have thought he could have given a better one than that
anyway, the power is really the value , having the next gear without power is really only valuable going down hill...
having the power will make that next gear worth its while
Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
kick starter enough to sell me
Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Yes, the engine still turns, but it feels like it stops at the top of the stroke, I'm guessing a bent valve?
Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
could be , sadly sounds like u need pull the head , might just be the plug bits keeping it from wanting to spin fully , its easy if can find the gasket and a small torq bar

Gonna have to change the muffler to use a kick starter on the DF250RTB. The DF is easy enough to push start if needed.
I have kick starters on my Kawasaki W650 and Ural and have never had to use them other than playing around.

Why would it be that important? i don't often keep things long enough to tell, but my car and tractor batteries last about 7 years each.

And that said, I have decided 700$ is not a plausible upgrade for me, nor frankly do i think it will ever be.
Not yet anyway while i still have a few other options to explore.
