Anyone know where I can get hold of white wall tyres for Tha Heist?
One of the DiY trick is w/ high quality emulsion paint.
Last month as posted here I almost had a Heist within my grasp but a dealer tried to pull a fast one on me- a new bike for a bike that had lots-o-issues- sun damage, rust, paint chips in the gas tank etc... We try again tomorrow. Between 3 and 5pm a new Heist will be delivered. Fingers crossed! Can't wait! OY!
Xetaprime - Sorry to hear about your dealer experience. Did you end up getting a bike? Most dealers are now out of stock due to high demand...
It's arriving tomorrow. It's a New stock 2012 that someone bailed payment on. Otherwise I'd be waiting for the boat to arrive. Have heard new bikes are due in later this month. I was set for one of those but this one popped up. Will snap some pics tomorrow. I was actually seconds away from ordering the DF.
Awesome! Can't wait to see the photos...
My Heist done arrived!

First impressions- she looks sweet! Sadly the chain is so tight I'll have to jack her and adjust the tension- or, is it? Is it supposed to come tight as hell? Anyway this is my first real motorcycle so I'll be a practicing before I hit the road. Have owned a 150cc scoot and a 49cc moped so Yay! Go me :))) Oh and the keys and paper work are arriving separately and not here yet so can't even kick her over. The gas cap came drilled out already so that's something I won't have to do. Time to reread the threads again! D'Ohhh!
Best to all,
Xeta
Very cool. Where did you get it? It's crated. Not from a dealer? Let me know if you need any help...
Direct from Weaver Rides. As I said it was a bike someone failed to pay for. Good for me :)
Okay- like I wrote above the chain is really tight with no play at all. I know the chain will stretch but should I loosen it up off the bat? Fortunately I did buy a lift...
Best, Xeta
Whoa! A stock Heist, ain't seen one of those in forever, lol.
The chain should have about 1/2" of play. Unless it's ridiculously tight, I'd just leave it... it'll loosen up on it's own the first ride. While you're waiting change the oil, set the valves, charge the battery, ditch the sai. Get acquainted with the intimates man.
Good luck with it!
I think the chain is ridiculously tight but hmmm... I was told they changed the oil at Rides. Might give them a call tomorrow to make sure. I'm new at having a motorcycle and was hoping I wouldn't have to touch the valves so soon :0 Still have to pick up the measuring strip thingies :)
Call Weaver tomorrow. Ill bet that all the work on that bike is done. Weaver is very good at PDI'n the bikes...
Selling my Custom Heist "Crazy Horse" I'm in the Las Vegas area if there is anyone interested contact me for details.
Spoke with Tom at Weaver today and he did say with new chains - he sends them out 'tight' so that's a relief. I don't think I would have left it so. Tom was totally cool and beyond friendly. Also the paperwork and keys arrived today! So tomorrow is title & reg day. I'm very excited and can't believe I have one! Seems surreal.
I somehow missed you bought from Weaver. You should be good to go!
Xeta - Excited for you. Great bike from a great dealer. Your going to love it...
Good morning! Boy, I love how she looks but I gotta say I have a heap of fear as this is my first clutch, heavy bike experience. The first day I rode I thought- what have I done- felt like crawling back to an automatic. But everything I've read online says the fear leaves with practice practice practice and also that a lot of noobs dump their bikes in the beginning :0 (I haven't but afraid to) Fortunately where I live the street is closed off so the perfect place for training. I did take MSF course but at the time it was on a scooter- I had a 150cc... right now I'm trying ti find a decent pair of riding boots... anyways, Best Xeta :)
All the Gear All the Time = ATGATT. As for those boots, don't forget to check out Craigslist. Start in the motorcycles section, then type boots. Lots of guys who got motorcycles on a lark end up selling them and all their gear, and you can find excellent deals if you are patient and lucky. My favorite, go-to boots now are a calf-high, waterproof, armored model from BMW, and I got them for $80 from a guy who decided to stop riding.
Try this link for boots in South Florida/Miami. Some decent choices, depending on size and style.
cheers
Xeta,
You'll get it man. In a few weeks it will all be a no-brainer. The MSF here teaches the clutch to first timers like this:
First get used to the "friction zone"
Sitting with the bike in gear let the clutch out slowly until you feel it grab. Now, pull it back in. Do this over and over getting comfortable with the grab point of the clutch.
Now move on to "walking" with the bike as you let the clutch out a little more. Don't let the clutch all the way out, just out to the friction zone and take a few steps with it before pulling clutch back in.
Finally, move on to letting it all the way out and take three big steps as you do then lightly give it gas and pick up your feet.
I saw a few first time riders do this over a morning, they were riding by the afternoon lessons.
Thanx guys! I've also been watching a lot of youtube videos :) Was going to go out and practice a short while ago- while it was sunny! then a few minutes later it was raining! Hopefully this afternoon I'll get a chance.
Best,
Xeta
I have the stupidest noob questions but is first gear just for getting the bike moving then you can immediately go to second? Being a noob just wanting to know how long to stay in first. Have never driven a clutch car either. Also what about revs- the Heist has no indicator so I guess it's all about feel? Lastly, if I'm just riding slowly for practice is this bad on the engine heat wise since it's air cooled? My training area I could probs go 10-20 tops...
So much to learn and loving it all in between the fear molecules that is.

Xeta
Update: Never mind. See, even though I did take the MSF course I took it on a scooter cause that's what I had at the time. It takes me a while to wrap my brain around things. Getting it though. Something as simple as when to shift from first can throw me but now I know. I won't be road riding until I'm secure which will be a while and if the damn rain lets up I can get more practice in. Wish I could delete my post :(
Anyone want to buy a brand new stock black 2012 Heist with 5km on her for $3000? OY! I researched this bike for months. God's truth but now that I have her I don't think she's for me- which bums me out no end! Sent direct from Weaver... this is not an easy decision to make. So no dealers fees or PDII charge. Vero Beach FL. Regards, Xeta
Okay! Okay! I'm keeping it! Maybe. Do I need to just RELAX? i THINK I NEED TO RELAX!!!!
For those of you who have sold it, why did you sell it?
Why not take the MSF again, this time on a motorcycle.
Back then I could use my scooter to get there. I have no other transportation. Patience and practice is everything I know. A few weeks ago I thought I could handle learning and the idea of future repairs as I'm pretty good mechanically... now it all seems overwhelming. Such is life.
There's plenty of safe rider courses out there, don't give up yet! Once you get the feel of it you won't turn
back and you will wonder what the big deal was! It can be done now go for it!
Here's one issue I'm having with my forward controls. The angle of the shift lever is forward - meaning my foot doesn't rest easy between the bottom peg and top lever unless my foot is angled slightly downward. The rod looks positioned correctly as per what I've read. If the lever were tilted back a little my foot could fit more comfortably in the space. Wearing sneakers it fits fine- which I don't use riding the bike but because my boots are thicker I wish there was more room. A longer rod would fix this but then not be horizontal to the frame. Do you know what I mean? I shouldn't have to move my foot out of the shifting area for comfort or does everyone do this? Be kind to the noob :0

Xetaprime,
If I am reading this right... I'm a 10.5 boot and fit my foot pretty well you don't need to rest the foot on the shifter but in between when riding. hook the heel to the peg and relax the foot, you will have less of a discomfort and fatigue.the foot shift lever is adjustable to a degree. the rod has 2 sets of adjustments to bring the lever up or down.
I think you may be over thinking it and as you stated Relax it will come to you. Don't just practice make it perfect practice which will yield more confidence. Take it slow and at your speed. you can email me if you have any questions or just want to vent. ccwtharider@optonline.net
Sorry been out of touch for a bit Work, school and family have been top priority and been riding so much I have been just been able to skim the pages here and there. I have close to 15000 miles on my Heist and almost 3000 miles on the Misfit this far. Been hitting a few events and people are just lovin on the bike
Check out the newest gallery up from my last event http://www.ccwthariders.com/strange-days-2.html
Thanx Gardo, when you say there are two sets of adjustments what do you mean? Front and back on the shift rod? It doesn't look like that would raise or lower it much. Is there another adjustment I'm missing? I hear you on practice though.
The DF seems to have a higher peg from looking at the pics. Just seems like I should be able to keep my foot in place and shift if I want. Having to take my foot out of the shifting area, for comfort- not talking downshifting- is kind of a pain. I think I could rig a triangle plate attached to the lever bringing the peg up and back but no time soon. I have tried moving the seat back and forth but that still doesn't help the angle of my foot.

Xeta
