Aboshi,
Here is one by our own ChinaV, different bike but same procedure with a few differences.
http://www.mychinamoto.com/forums/sh...justing+valves
Pretty much the same as our bobber. I had to use an impact screw driver to remove the four screws that holds the plate covering the nut that you can use to turn the engine to get to the TDC mark. Another difference is you remove the three bolts to remove the valve cover instead of removing the two round valve covers.
Edit: Manual and sticker on frame both say .06mm intake and .08mm exhaust.

Almost no clearance on the valves. So tight that I though I was not at TDC. So easy to check on the bobber.
Did my third oil change on my Qlink XF200 at 2000km and still had a little metal on the MDP.

how long did it take to do the valve job?

Re: Anyone Know Of Dong Fang DF250RTB Bobber?
Looks like you are having fun, Gardo. Here's how to mount those pix in MCM:
Just right click on the image you want to link and "copy image URL", and then click on the image button above your MCM text window, paste in the link, and voila!

Valve adjustment took me about an hour because they tightened the four screws on that engine cover so tight that I had to find and use my impact screw driver.

The screws in that chrome cover were a bitch to get out. I notice that they seem to over tighten the fasteners which I guess is better than not tight enough.
Next time twenty minutes. No tank to remove, no plastic to remove, easy access to the rocker arms, etc
I should have bought one of these years ago. On sale at store for $299

BTW, Nice pics but how about some with you riding the bike?

barnone:
Did you ever find out what sprockets will fit?
I just ordered black muffler wrap, drag bars, led blinkers, and a magnetic oil plug so it will be ready to drop in the second the bike gets here. Next on the list is sprockets and possible rejetting if needed, and that should hold me off until it gets warmer. Also how is the vibration from the motor? The bike I rented in DR would make my hands go numb after 5 mins and I believe it was the same motor.
-
Re: Anyone Know Of Dong Fang DF250RTB Bobber?
Funny, I ordered that sheepskin from New Zealand at the same time that I ordered the sprocket and jets from the USA and it arrived yesterday but still no jets or sprocket.
There is vibrations from the engine which I think that bar end weights will reduce. Actually I think that I will order bar end mirrors like these on my Qlink XF200
http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x...endmirror1.jpg
and that should reduce the vibration like it did on the Q.

Re: Anyone Know Of Dong Fang DF250RTB Bobber?
I like those bar end mirrors, how much did you pick them up for? I found a few for $80+ but that seems like to much for 1-3" mirrors.

Ebay $30 or less. Search bar end mirror. Lots of choices.

Mine are the same as Barnone's, less than $20 including postage EbayHK, but there are cheap ones in USA - try these which look to be the same as ours:

or these for bling? (7/8bars?)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Pair-...Q5fAccessories
I have also seem them for a LOT less, like $6 in bicycle shops and you can easily enough make them fit.

Its funny that was the first bike I was checking out when I first started looking at the imports...decided that it was just a touch TOO small to be feasible. I'm not terribly tall, but have long enough legs that I can't imagine that thing being comfortable...hence my interest in the bobber :)

I'm curious if your's is as loud as barnone's. Let us know when you fire it up Saturday. Yeah, I know, you don't know how loud his is (was) but he described it as too loud to pass an EPA test. So I guess we'll have to rely on your opinion.

I have a full crew coming by tomorrow my mom's husband and a few of the old timers he rides with want to check out the bike. I'm thinking that I'll check the valves as well, as described here.
So the day starts with a trip to Ringling Brother's with my daughter, then back home.
Got 2 new helmets ( an outlaw halfy ,& a Hawk full face) then the wife surprised me with a new Vulcan riding jacket

You are a very lucky man, get some kevlar jeans as well, ride safe and stay alive for them all.

Re: Anyone Know Of Dong Fang DF250RTB Bobber?
I forgot to search ebay for the bar ends lol thanx for the links =)
Make sure to use blue locktight on every last nut/bolt on these things. I wouldn't trust chinese QC what so ever, especially when your taking your life into your hands.
I'm not surprised that countyimports is a sub of scooterdepot, and they are charging even more for the bike but hopefully their customer service makes up for it... They do seem pretty nice when I call in but that doesn't mean a thing if something goes wrong, they do however have a very good BBB rating and the reason I went through them was because a few people at chinariders said they had good experiences with them. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that scooterdepot is most likely the major importer for all of the china bikes/scooters and then just sells bulk to the rest of the shops all over the US.
Still I'm pretty excited to get my hands on it, and where I live its perfect to tool around on =)
I just need to make a surfboard holder to stick off the side =)

Gardo,
Waiting for your report and photos of your new bobber.

Re: Anyone Know Of Dong Fang DF250RTB Bobber?
Ok guys was a full day, got the oil changed, put in the magnetic plug thanks Barnone, the carb tuned up a bit, and checked it all over, an awesome sound my friends could not believe that its a 250. Sure as hell doesnt sound like it
-
Re: Anyone Know Of Dong Fang DF250RTB Bobber?
Gardo,
Good news but you are not going to get away with "the carb tuned up a bit" without a little explanation.
-
Re: Anyone Know Of Dong Fang DF250RTB Bobber?
Aye, and no pics when everyone over ten has a digital camera or two ... but good to hear it is running and impressing the 'hood!
-
Re: Anyone Know Of Dong Fang DF250RTB Bobber?
Ok I'm the tuning was more of an adjustment but there were a few adjustments on the bike that needed to be done. Handlebars brakes lights. The small stuff.
Ok gotta pop getting the stink eye from the wife since we are at the churches St Pats day feast dinner.
Jape pics on the phone not many since the battery died.

Re: Anyone Know Of Dong Fang DF250RTB Bobber?
OK I like it - definitely going to need to get one - along with a manual since I am not technically inclined with this stuff...but seriously, throw a nice set of 18" apes on there and I'm good :)

Re: Anyone Know Of Dong Fang DF250RTB Bobber?
Gardo,
Looking good. Did you check the chain? Mine was tighter than a drum.
Looks like you got the same Harbor Freight M/C lift that I have.
-
Re: Anyone Know Of Dong Fang DF250RTB Bobber?
That is classic! Bobber, dude with Brando jacket, blue jeans. (which don't last 30 seconds in an off)
Glad you have a full face helmet though.
-
Re: Anyone Know Of Dong Fang DF250RTB Bobber?
Yup .5 inch play on the chain, quite acceptable. cant resist a bike lift for 70 bucks. couple of other things was the + battery cable was dangling so I had to zip tie it to the frame. the bike only took 1.2 liters of oil need to check it tomorrow. Also might have to adjust the shifter, finding Neutral was a bit tricky
What sucks is that its supposed to rain up here over the next few days:taz:
