Re: ChinaV's new MCM QingQi 250!!!
Hey everyone I just got my reply from TrailTech - Here it is:
Which computer of ours are you interested in? It looks like it is air cooled but I would just like to make sure. If it is I will need to know the NGK spark plug number for it.
Can you guys tell me the Plug type? Thanks
Andrew

Re: ChinaV's new MCM QingQi 250!!!

For some reason I think it's a DR8ESL or a DR8EA ???
Cheers!

I always thought that bike shop owner was a bit of a dodgey wanker, didn't realise how much till now :rolleyes1: oh well, could be worse... I really like the Koso mirrors anyway

Spark plug for Qlink XF200
The user's manual for the XF200 states the plug is a NGK D8RTC but my XF200 came with a NGK DR8EA.
Besides the point but I have replaced it with a NGK Iridium DPR8EIX-9 with no difference in performance. Just for fun.

Re: ChinaV's new MCM QingQi 250!!!
NEW Response from Trail Tech on the Vapor Computer Kit - I hope you all find their reponse useful if you are considering buying one of these units for your Qlink or related Sumo.
The problem that we are going to run into is that we do not offer a kit that will have all of the correct sensors in it. The problem is that all of our inverted fork kits are for water cooled bikes. What you are going to need to do is get the 75-700 kit and then also get the correct temp sensor. The part number for the temp sensor is 7500-3012. If you are also interested in the indicator light dashboard the part number for that is 022-PDA.

Re: ChinaV's new MCM QingQi 250!!!
ChinaV,
- Did you buy your's with Enduro or Motard wheels? Do you know how much the Enduro version costs?
- How big is that tank?
- How heavy is the bike? (Dry weight)
- Not really important for me, but does it have a fuel level indicator?
- Is it lower than my Shineray(seat height)? Before I bought my Shineray, I sat on a QM200 Motard at a dealer's shop and the I felt cramped. Bars were too low maybe. My inexperience turned me away from the bike.. Just wondering if the 250 will feel the same.
Time for an upgrade! Stopped by the Qingqi dealer in Kunming the other day, they don't have anything bigger than 150s on display! Again, I have to rely on MCM for info!

1.) Only comes with motard wheels, bought the 21"/18" setup from Taobao. Same as the QM200. I'm working on a 17"/19" setup for touring.
2.) Tank is 10 liters (250 km) range. This is the main reason I wanted "The Rock" QM250GY-2D, much bigger 20 liter tank.
3.) 130 Kg
4.) No fuel gauge, but tripmeter and reserve lever on petcock.
5.) Yes, lower than the GY7. Only the GY7, X2, JH600 and Galaxy TGR seem to be made for larger people.
You're not going to get any help with buying a QM250 from QingQi shops or the factory. People in the company know little about the models they produce and sell. You will also need some guanxi at the registry to get it road legal, it's not really approved for sale in all places.
One other option you might want to think about is throwing one of these into your GY7, it's a counterbalanced 230cc version of the motor in all the Galaxy bikes. Power and vibration issues solved and you still have a full sized bike with the huge tank, luggage racks and offroad ability. Add some Kings Tire KT-966's and I think you're GY7 would be a completely different bike.
Cheers!

Re: ChinaV's new MCM QingQi 250!!!
Amazing idea, V. Is it really so easy to swap out one engine for another?
If so, why not this one?

Re: ChinaV's new MCM QingQi 250!!!
Remember Slabo if everything was easy and things made sense we wouldn't be in China anymore.
-
Re: ChinaV's new MCM QingQi 250!!!
Thanks for all the replies. I had my hopes up, but the guanxi requirement quickly turned me off. I really have no patience for such things, but mabye I should start learning if I intentend to stay in China for a long time.
I like the idea of replacing the engine. True, vibration and power are the main issues. I'd be spending ~3000 rmb and get a new bike.
But this needs a closer study. I replace the engine, I will then notice the suspension after that. Also, bike weighs 144kg dry now! Thats because all the frame, rack, handle bar... everything is steel. Heavy, strong and cheap! I'm sure that Loncin engine is even heavier. How will the bike handle? I'm scared if I start down that road, this whole project will turn into a money pit.
Too early to make a descion, but I will think more about the engine swap. I really I can't see upgrading to another bike except if its a well built 250 Enduro.

wow, thats an awesome bit if modding/bodging :eekers: good on the guy..
those radiators look very vunerable though, on the overgrown jungle tracks we have down here they wouldn't last one ride.
Thanks chinaV, i know which engine i'm buying if i blow up the galaxy.. that black counterbalanced one looks sexy!!

Carb still legal in 国3 (Stricter than Euro 3 / i.e. not easily scammed as EEC bike that sold in Europe : Added fuel evaporative limit just like CARB in US/ Random test the new bike in market :mwink:)
Warning: You will be "screwed" by police if new engine # don't match the record (TiC :some place can stamp # to blank engine :icon10: )

Re: ChinaV's new MCM QingQi 250!!!
Just sayin - I dig the Cig lighter on the bike. Great way to charge the phone on the road

Re: ChinaV's new MCM QingQi 250!!!
Interesting concept for a GY-7, radiators will be wasted in no time. Don't know if it's counterbalanced, but I think I would stick with the Loncin 233 air cooled, counter balanced, model instead. Less money and proven reliability .

Humanbeing, I have been asking everyone I know about what's left here in China (over 200cc) that can be registered. So far I have only confirmed the JH600 and YBR250 are possible. QingQi has nothing over 150cc. Still waiting for news from Galaxy. What's the story with Shineray? Do you know?

Looks handy, but will last about a week in China (vibration, dirt, etc.). Better to ditch the whole socket and just hard wire your charger to the positive and negative leads. I made a little "how to" guide for creating a robust USB charger for bikes, just haven't gotten round to posting it up.
Cheers!

Here is an email conversation between myself and a sales representative from galaxy.
Hello, Jon,
Are you still interested in buying the XTR model?
It is not problem to register it in Beijing.
Yours sincerely
Frank
My reply
Frank,
I am very interested in the XTR, thanks for getting back to me. But since it took over a month to respond to my inquiry, I already went ahead and purchased a 125cc qingqi street bike. However, I will be looking into buying a dual sport later this year and would like to know if Galaxy bikes will meet the new emission requirements that Beijing has set.
Best,
Jon
His reply
Hi, Jon,
About the emission requirement, it is not a problem for our bike. Dont worry about that.
Any way, hope you enjoy your new motorcycle and if need any other things, feel free to contact us.
Have a nice day

I'll second that. That setup is just asking for something to go wrong. I think it doesn't even make more power than the air cooled one. The counter balanced air cooled engine is called CBP250, there's a few of them on taobao.

I would actually quite like to see it please, if you had time to put it up. I tried a couple last year and neither lasted very long!

Re: ChinaV's new MCM QingQi 250!!!
Well Jon, I'm not surprised that you got less than perfect service, but waiting a month for a reply to an email :rolleyes1:. Pick up the phone, it's the best way to get things done in the MC industry here. So after reading your post, I did just that, and Galaxy is investigating the issue as it pertains to the changes that were enacted on March 1, 2011. Since your post does not show the dates of this discussion, what Frank said, may, or may not, be true. In fact, what anyone has said about registering a bike in China in any post on this forum is no longer valid without being checked again.
Not sure how you got hooked up with Frank, but John, Lydia, and the boss (Tiger) have always gone out of there way to provide good service.
New Rules folks... let's hope the industry has made some plans for 国3.
Cheers!

Re: ChinaV's new MCM QingQi 250!!!
I sent galaxy an inquiry asking if i could somehow get lao jia huo's xtr plated in beijing. then one month later, frank responded asking if i wanted to buy a new XTR. answered different question than i originally asked, haha. that second email was sent to me on march 2, 2011.

Which sucks, because in that month, you probably lost the ability to get it registered :frump:. I hope I'm wrong and the XTR and TGR can still be regged with a carb.
Cheers!

Re: ChinaV's new MCM QingQi 250!!!
Well, this is China and all, but surely a bike that's already been registered under pre-国3 rules can be transferred to a new owner now, no?
-
Re: ChinaV's new MCM QingQi 250!!!
Sorry for O/T but can a bike bought in one district be registered in another? What's to prevent us buying a cheaper Regal Raptor in Wujiang then bringing it in to Shanghai?
Also, I have a bike registered in Jiangsu that I would love to buy Hu C plates for. :mwink:

Re: ChinaV's new MCM QingQi 250!!!
Hi, newbie here.
I live in Nicaragua and the QingQi 250's are being sold here in both the Motard and the Trail versions.
They are badged in the Genesis line of bikes and are being sold in the Yamaha dealerships.
I have a dual-sport model on order, $2,900(U.S.) out the door.
I forgot to ask, but I'm hoping it comes with a one year warrenty.
By way of comparsion, a new XT250 Yamaha is $5,500.
I also have a Jialing JH150GY-2. It was $1350 with the first three services free and a 6 month/3,000 Km. warrenty.
Cycling in Central America has never been so good!

Re: ChinaV's new MCM QingQi 250!!!
Hey, motomech...I eagerly await the introduction of the U.S.'s version of the 250 Qingqi via Cleveland Cycle Werks which will be only available in motard form. The 200 has been available here and throughout south of the US for a few years now.
I have been seeing many posts on horizonsunlimited from people buying cheap Chinese bikes in various countries from Mexico and south through Central and S. America. It seems the Qingqi 200 has been proven to be among the highest quality given its Suzuki roots.

Re: ChinaV's new MCM QingQi 250!!!
Because it's a poor country, there are millions of 125/150/200 China bikes here. More bikes than cars even(where I live).
It seems to me that the small displacement bikes have reached a plateu of fair reliability.
My Jialing is a good example. I work at a project on the coast and ride 60 Km.s of unimproved dirt roads a day, and I'm 250 lb.s and thash it.
The trannie has lots of false neutrals, but the motor is real solid.
The tires and chain are junk and will have to be replaced by 3K Km.s, but the wheels are holding up fine. The suspension is typical low-grade, hard on the little stuff/soft on the big stuff and the rear shock just gives up and locks up on fast/hard hits. But even something like a XR200 would be hard-pressed with what I'm doing.
I think the Genesis(QingQi)250 will be more able to handle my commute and I suspect that I will be able to knock off 10 minutes each way.
I see you are in Az. I had a bike shop in Tucson for years and owned many air-cooled thumpers. Air-cooled engine can take the heat, one just needs to chance the oil more often(The QingQi 250 has an oil-cooler).

I was a little concerned about the heat and whether I should look for a liquid-cooled motard or not :confused1:
I am not terribly familiar with Tucson, but have been there a couple of times. How long ago were you there? What kind of bikes (bicycle or motorcycle :riding:) did you sell/fix?
If you can, try to get some photos of your commute that you have to ride now; just out of curiosity--sounds like 'fun' :eek2::eekers:

Re: ChinaV's new MCM QingQi 250!!!
Well, good and bad news. The whole country is sold out of the dual-sport models, but there are some motard versions left.
The good news is, they will sell me one of those for $2500(out the door, with 2 free services). The only color available is black w/ silver trim.
Now all I have to do is get a day off work(not easy) and go to the Capital to pick it up(They won't sent this model to the local dealership for some reason).
I'll post pictures when I get it.
