Re: (No-)Bike Night in Shanghai
Hey Jeff, thanks a lot for the organization !
We're totally not superstars, but we'll not shy away from this one, even if we don't like being in the spotlight !
We'll be here then ! Boxing cat or kaiba, either is perfect for us. We'll try to stay awake too, which is not easy right now for us ! :lol8:
See you tomorrow !
Fred
Re: (No-)Bike Night in Shanghai
not to throw a monkey wrench into this but, why not hit the Ducati Cafe at 1933? they have food, coffee and drinks and a special parking spot for bikes inside 1933/next to the cafe, anyone interested?
Re: (No-)Bike Night in Shanghai
Aaaaargh! Why are you doing this to me?!?! Saturday evening is when my daughter has her end of year school play, first one ever. Any chance we could do this any other time? I don't want to miss this again!
Re: (No-)Bike Night in Shanghai
As I wrote, I'm ok either way, as we're here until July 1st...
It could be next week, depends on you guys !

Thanks for the monkey wrench, but I'm thinking a) it's way out of the way for most of us, up in Hongkou, hardly an easy central location, 2) I've never heard of anyone actually going there, and Felix and others have reported it's as lively as a tomb, and 3) given the likelihood of some of us taking a drink or two, the bike parking is not particularly relevant.
I'm going to take executive privilege and suggest Jackie's Beer Nest, which is one of best bars in Shanghai you've never heard of. I'll be there at 7:30 p.m. It's quite easy to find, just west of Xizang Lu near the corner of Dongtai Lu, and near the LaoXiMen stop on the No.8 and No.10 lines. Jackie's has snacks, but no kitchen. It's in a local neighborhood with all kinds of things to eat.
76 Zhaozhou Lu near Xizang Nan Lu 肇周路76号
Jackie's mobile is 138 1650 2260.
Hope to see everyone there tonight!
Re: (No-)Bike Night in Shanghai
You guys go ahead and enjoy the good times tonight! I will have to catch up another time. Maybe we can do another when Pete gets here and before Fred leaves.
Re: (No-)Bike Night in Shanghai
ok, see you there, but for next time, we should go there, Felix hasn't been there since he left Shanghai, it has a new GM and is pretty cool. Last month they had their 1 year anniversary party and showcased the sale of 2 new Ducati's :)

the Ducati Caffee is really boring and in a shitty location (most roads leading to the location have a motorbike ban in place). now, not trying to piss on anyones parade by why would you open a motorbike themed F+B outlet in a location down at the bund area? Ace Cafe London, Handlebar Singapore, Deus Sydney come to mind, great locations to ride the bike to and have a drink / food and meet bikers..... open a place in the suburbs like Hongqiao / Jinqiao and you have a wining concept...... have a nice weekend!
Re: (No-)Bike Night in Shanghai
Just a quick note to say thanks to SammyFlorez and Fred, who joined us at Jackie's Beer Nest last night for a memorable evening. There's a good chance we'll do this again in the next two weeks before Fred and Celine make good on their highly unreasonable threat to leave Shanghai for France.
Say it ain't so, Fred!
Another chance for DipStick to prove he actually exists...
Cheers!

I am a figment of your imagination...
