Honda Monkey Bikes on Top Gear 1997. Not sure if this has been posted before but just watched the movies while building M-bike projects again during a rainy Shanghai day....
It's the Top Gear TV show from 1997. They talk about monkey history and modifications, pretty funny 16 year old video.

I remember reading the thread in ADV when it was fresh. People were pony walking their bikes over it, and still were quite shaken. I remember thinking how awesome it would be to drive with Honda Monkey bike over the bridge.
That said, I would probably novadays prefer to do touring in civilized areas and meet people rather than to do that kind of extreme touring.
Hats-off (or helmets lol) anyway for those who go do BAM and stuff.

This branded content video is beautiful to watch and also has amazing sound. Highly recommend you put your headphones on or connect to some kick-ass speakers before playing. Enjoy!
If your speakers are still on, hear antique motorcycle the with... "contemporary" sound - Ariel Square Four.

Vroom-vroom!!!! :riding:
This looks a descent flik, I saw it on hell for leather......http://youtu.be/5qf3hWk9pzI
Could also "fit" in the TIC thread.
Anyways, I've seen a couple of instances of people in China losing it, including once at an airport, but not as extreme as this guy ...
Sad.
:lol8: I admit that there have been times I wished I do the same thing. Not proud of it. Just admitting the facts.
I would also bet most people have also wished they could do the same at one time or the other in their life. I guess what makes one a rational adult is the ability to stop at the wish stage. It is what it is.
Haha ... yeah, smart guy.
However, better a keyboard than a table ...

Found some good China motorcycle content on CCTV5 last night.
It's a segment featuring a posse of sexy army girls riding from Beijing up thru Inner Mongolia and Dongbei.
The branded content (Honda sponsored) is good fun. Enjoy!

If any of your girls are reading this thread and available for a ride with Motokai, PM me!!
Heh heh ... these girls are called the "New Bees" (although they are changing their name). It is a group arranged by Motorcycling magazine (it has a full page ad, each month, encouraging girls to join) with various sponsors (including Honda). The intent is to show that motorcycles can be fun, and that even girls can ride them - and also to change the "bad boy" image of motorcycling. The last few months' issues have multi-page spreads. In 2011, they did Tibet. Unsure where 2013 will be heading. By the way, the riders get a small stipend and get to keep the personal gear. Not bad.
The military theme was their first week of training (including phyiscal conditioning), just north of Beijing, with some top-end military riders as their trainers (the military guys were top notch, highly skilled riders - amazing to watch their dirt skills). They are just "normal" girls from all over China, including Shanghai, and some have never ridden a motorcycle before. It is a great adventure for them.
Want to ride with some? Come back to Beijing, as the Beijing contingent is quite large (not all go on the extended trips because of work obligations). Some members are ex-students of mine who I have encouraged to join (check my GW250 review for a pic of one "testing" the GW). A few MCM members have met a couple of them, including little Ms GW, and the first question is usually "do you have a boyfriend?". Always fun to ride with them ... not only pretty, but also properly trained :) :)
However, I am a VERY protective old guy ... you won't get very far if I am around!
And here is a video submission for the upcoming Dutch/German JH/X5 drag race ...

Sorry, don't know how to embed liveleak on MCM.
BMW's 90 years.
As my acquaintance says: "Das Mädchen kann vom Land stammen, aber das Motorrad muss aus dem Bayern kommen." :icon10:

I can understand why they left out sidecar painted in feldgrau, but why there is no at least a dozen pre-war and post-war models? They deserved it.
Thanks for reply LJH. Good info.
Looking forward to the Dutch/German JH/X5 drag race .
The liveleak wouldn't stream, so if anyone has the problem here's the YouTube.
Probably most of you have seen so far a video clip from Russia, where a tank pops out onto the road in front of the shocked driver.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kuOuowxunJE
OK, it's funny.
Then, a shot from a few days ago, from the same location, Nizhny Tagil, near the "Uralvagonzavod" factory - tank cuts off passenger car, not paying attention to the traffic light.

Brits, after 70-80 years, again interested in... "inline" three-wheel bikes.

Kind of like a snowmobile, its not the same as having tracks but similar.

There are a few paragraphs and photos dedicated to these inline three-wheel bikes in the book "Images of War - Motorcycles at war" by Gavin Birch. Available for free download. :naughty:
LIVE NOW.... 2013 Pikes Peak Hill Climb.... The Race To The Clouds.... (no problems streaming straight to the TV using one of the firewall helpers)

Thanks for the heads up. I actually participated in that race in 1996 on a KTM 620. The course/road was 85% gravel back then. Took me 12 minutes and 32 seconds to get to the top. (My nuts floated on several turns) That put me third or fourth from the bottom of the amateur class but was still a blast to have done it. Really interesting format.
Am I reading the results properly? Did Carlin Dunne switch over to an e-bike this year? Didn't he post the best time last year (2012) on a Ducati MultiStrada? But this year (2013), riding an e-bike, he blew away the 2nd place Ducati MTS by 20 seconds! (linkie)
Damn, that must be painful for MTS owners, being dusted by an e-bike. Heh heh ... make fun of my HD tractor, will ya?!?!?!?
Oh yeah, I plan on getting a lot of mileage outta this one.
EDIT: Hey - I have an idea. You know how e-bikes have pedals to help them start off? I bet someone could modify a MTS to have the same. Just sayin'
PS - for those not-in-the-know, TB-R mercilessly teases me (in person) about my beautiful HD Ultra and my very fashionable pirate outfit, with all the appropriate pins & patches. He's jealous, I know, but still.
PPS: I'll get this in before TB-R wakes up - according to unofficial results, the HD Ultra was first in its class - bikes on a trailer to the top.
