like you said, taobao bike might have warranty issues. Besides, call me old school, but I'd not pay almost 40K by E-transfer. Would rather go to the shop, you know, ride it, touch it, all that.
In terms of mods, saw one of them here in Nanjing with Acrapovich mufflers. But those were just the cans - intake and pipes all stock. As for the ECU, depends if there's custom firmware (tune card) for it or if it's replaceable/swappable with a Japanese analogue(highly unlikely). If not - nothing can be done to that as of yet.

Re: Qjiang QJ600GS / Benelli BJ600GS - rumors thread
I guess Qjiang should love to see their own brand over Benelli on their exported bikes.
Matter of pride.
By the way, is there actually someone who already ordered one?
Read many impressions, but so far I did not read anyone (including my 2 friends who backed away as well) actually ordering one.

Re: Qjiang QJ600GS / Benelli BJ600GS - rumors thread
The bike is going to be offered under multiple brand names, Keeway and also Generic. That has to do with probably what name they are or have established in distribution in each country/region. QJ is primarily the Chinese brand and Keeway the international brand. Generic is a European band name.

Neither has launched the 600cc as of yet, it is likely that it will show up in Europe as the generic and South America as the Keeway RK6, that is because their strongest markets are were they have strong partners. In south America they are partnered with Zanella and in Europe Generic.

Re: Qjiang QJ600GS / Benelli BJ600GS - rumors thread
That model will not likely ever show up in the USA, even though it would be a great competitor. It should or could out perform the GT650 Hyosung, Suzuki Gladius but those are only twins, but 650cc, it would have to come to the market supported and the Keeway dealer network here does not inspire any real confidence.
They have to and are in some markets are investing in distribution, its key. But then they also have to have technical training in place, documents and support at the dealer level that has to be professional.
But what is common is the biases in the industry, preconceptions abound. Looks often like kids playing telegraph.
The bike fits in the 6-7k price range, but shares some DNA with a 10-12k Japanese model, that is what I see when I look at it. But the Yamaha has features like titanium valves…and a pedigree. If you kill your self on a R6 it would not be or have anything to do with how it was engineered and or assembled, not likely even how it was PDI and or serviced either.

G'Day,
Took a mate over to Pubei road on Saturday to buy a helmet (Spidi shop), no Qjiang QJ600GS / Benelli BJ600GS in the shop we went to during CNY to check the bikes, they had two bikes for sale on Saturday, pretty fast ones I must admit.....

Re: Qjiang QJ600GS / Benelli BJ600GS - rumors thread
I think no matter Benelli or Keeway branding this very bike will have its own market share in Europe. Would be very interesting to see it compete in American market as well. Given it's based on the R6 engine (na matter what generation) it could be a strong selling point. If aftersales support is good and the overall quality is sufficient I can see it outperforming Hyosung in European market by 2014.

Re: Qjiang QJ600GS / Benelli BJ600GS - rumors thread
A little FYI for those of us considering this bike. It seems that a lot of taobao retailers have noticed the growing interest in this bike; there's already a lot of parts available to buy online.
This is good news for us as it's so much easier to get stuff on taobao, you don't have to deal anyone and you don't get ripped off.
All the common bits you might need are there. Oil filters, air filters, and all the stuff that breaks when you crash like controls, lights, panels...

It seems even our Tourfella friend in zhejiang has taken notice and is already offering a custom luggage system for the bike:

All good news.

All good!
Those panniers are quite expensive, though. It's 800 yuan for the rack. The whole set's 4000 yuan.

Many of us are using the Tourfella panniers and can attest that the quality as well as the service is excellent. One of my boxes was badly mangled in my Kunming getoff. I couriered it to Du Rui (25 rmb) and had it back 48 hours later, perfectly realigned. No charge, not even for the return shipping.
I see Du is adding quite a few bikes to the list for which he makes custom racks for his panniers, including the GW250 and DL650. I asked him yesterday about a setup for my KLR650 in California; he's done only one before, since these Kawis are so rare in China, but we're working on a solution. I've got buddies in the US who will want them, given that the price is maybe half of what you'd pay for the comparable Trax system at Twisted Throttle.
cheers!

That sounds professional!
Any idea if he makes rack+panniers setup for CRF450/LD450???

Just go into Taobao and search for "tourfella". You'll find everything. Actually, not quite everything. There are some pages that don't include the word Tourfella, but you'll find them in "related items" links on the various pages. I see the XTR250 is listed too.
cheers!

thanks, makes the BJ traffic chaos more bearable in the back set of a car..... we still should plan a ride out to Tourfella as mention in other threads and posts.

I asked Du Rui this week about bringing a group down, and he's keen as ever. Just need to start exploring some dates.
cheers!

Come up with some dates, I am busy the next few weeks and my bike most probably will be out of Shanghai for 2-3 month as of middle of June.

Re: Qjiang QJ600GS / Benelli BJ600GS - rumors thread
K really wanting to know wtf is going on with the pipes on those bikes. On the first one has he actually rebuilt the entire exhaust system? I've been thinking of a mod for this bike but was more keen on routing it down to one pipe and off to the side rather than up to four. Also would like to see what each of them did with the rest of the exhaust system, specifically the catalytic converter section.
Personally, I'd be more interested in performance and fuel economy than the noise, but wow, the tone of that second bike is quite pleasing.

IMHO.
I somehow think that they haven't really messed with the system. All those pipes seem to be the slip-on mufflers. Original routing must've been preserved as 4 into 1 into 2.

Have a look at this photo--it shows the exhaust below the back seat:

I believe they replaced the muffler completely--which unfortunately would mean also that the catalytic converter is "gone".

Re: Qjiang QJ600GS / Benelli BJ600GS - rumors thread
Those pipes are all absolutely awful. The first problem is the only way you know that you're getting any extra power from the bike is putting it on a dyno. Sure it might sound a bit nicer, but I hate to think how many hp or torques the bikes are loosing, you can see the wide open mouths on them, must be losing heaps of torque. Secondly what's the point of buying an expensive(ish) bike paying to register it then putting illegal pipes and other mods on it, then attracting the money loving Gong-An towards you at every intersection when you don't need to? If I got one I'd leave it stock. That means no stickers or leopard-skin seat covers too!

Guess bum-meter will be sufficient--particularly if the pipes are bad :-) But the exhaust is a "4-2-1-muffler&silencer"--there could be enough (back) pressure at the '1' and replacing the muffler&silencer might not have a negative effect on power and torque (?)
The loss of the catalytic converter is, however, the worst effect. :scooter:

Agreed.
I bet there's a special sort of hell for those with leopard skin seat covers.
