Changhua pictures and here are more pics taken by travellers to the Qizi Bay / Changhua area, they are much better photographers in my opinion.... http://www.cjvlang.com/Photos/qiziwan.html
As my temporary residence is nearby, couldn't resist to cruise once again into the Yinggehai Salt Fields for an afternoon of some light off-road riding....
Yinggehai Salt Fields
Xing Xing village at the coast (Xinggehai Salt Field), short swim over to Vietnam from here, roughly 500k's....
Xing Xing Village (Xinggehai Salt Field).....
Speaking of salt mines, and a bit off topic, this link is spectacular!
cheers!
Wall art (propaganda) along the National Road G225 cruising back down to Sanya from the Long Mu Bay area....
Sanya Bay viewed from a hill top near "End of the World (Tian Ya Hai Jiao)" on the way back to Sanya town during a hot and humid day as business calls.....
Jialing gets a well deserved oil and filter change at the Sanya downtown authorised Jialing service centre (see post #5 in this thread). Oilfilter shows three little metal flecks, nothing to worrie about. Before someone asks, my replacement battery arrived by truck from Shanghai a couple of days ago (Jialing LZD and Xiao Fan shipped the battery) but keeping the smaller one installed as of today have not encountered any problems.....
Sanya Bay has a heli tour operation now, 1600RMB for 10 min. for a single person (seats 4 incl. pilot), they have two helicopters stationed there. watched the black one taking off and had to laugh as the pilot put on his white gloves like the taxi drivers we have in the cities like Shanghai / Beijing....
side-note: I have the business card of the Sanya Bay heli tour operation in case anyone needs the contact details.
ps: one of my Sanya contacts mention the other day rental Ferrari / Lamborghini supercars are available for 20000-40000 RMB per day (self-driven) in Sanya as well. Shall double check and report back once I have more details available....
Took the long way around via Yanoda Forest Park, Wushishan, Lingshui to Haitang Bay, great trail riding and good scenery along the way.
As the saying goes "China has an island called Hainan - Hainan has an island called Wuzhizhou".....
Wuzhizhou Island in the background seen from Haitang Plaza out at Haitang Bay.
Fishing boats near the Wuzhizhou ferry pier....
i prefer the JH over Ferrari. How you get with this car through the forest park?
..... for heli , i hope they fly better than they drive taxi :-)
Dried small fish at the pier and a large monument at the back of Haitang Bay set against some mountains....
Roadside shrines for good luck on the road and herewith temporarily stopping the Sanya - Hainan ride report as my Jialing JH600 "Dingaling" ADV cruiser has been washed & cleaned, Ctek battery charger plugged in and bike is securely stored as I am on my way back up to Shanghai right now, unfortunately by plane.
4+ weeks road trip (6000+k's) went by in a flash but the next bike rides are currently in the final planning stages.
...to be continued...
ps: can't stop thinking, for serious Hainan single trail riding a Yamaha WR 250-450 or trimmed down and custom build Honda XR 600-650, BMW 650 Sertao would compliment the TBR China bike fleet nicely.... lets wait and see.....
hi All,
I am in Sanya from dec 26 for a week. I want to rent a motorcycle for me and a scooter for my wife. Please let me know if you know any rental shop there.
thx, Sandor
Great thread, enjoyed reading. APrider
Sandor - Welcome to Sanya and hope you bought the sunblock .
,There are some Sanya and island motor bike shops that will do a 125 cc scooter casual 'sale and buy back . Plus 'you can purchase a helmet .
They usually do this with motor bikes they have extras of . You will need someone with Chinese language skills . If you have difficulties - we will see if we can help , as we are further north on the island . Cheers
@prince666: thx. indeed it seems there is no any dedicated rental shop but one can "rent" a motorcycle from some motorcycle shops.
@mega: thx. today I saw a large group of motorcyclist in a parking lot of a hotel in Sanya centre. One of them was a motorcycle shop owner and I could rent a bike from him:-)
the bests
Sandor - Be careful when riding in the greater Sanya area . Mostly during traffic rush hours - the police set up ' E scooter & motor bike stops to check your papers.
The old highway going west is 'Ok , but we do drive on the expressway . Stay far right and watch for roadside debris .
Best route for a 2 day scenic ride is up the 'east coast - then loop back on a south west diagonal route through the 'heart of the island . This will give you the mountains , along with good roads .
If your bike is under 200 CC 'you will have some slow riding up some of the curvy but scenic roads .
If passing Wanning - get us a text @ 138.1663.6060
hi. I have met smiling policemen several times without any issue. Mostly they were having a rest on (discarded old club) chairs or even in a hammock :-) not on the highway of course. I really enjoyed riding on s314, g224, s310 up to Baisha then back to Sanya on g224:riding:. roads are in good shape apart from some really dangerous sandy spots due to road maintenance :diggin:
must return to ride more with a proper bike :dirtbike:
Pal is correct ...plus motor biking mainland in the winter is not realistic .
There's two options for catching 'China's best winter 'two wheelin on Hainan ....Ship down a motor bike for 200 to 300 USD or rent a bike . The rental procedure may be a 125 CC motor bike purchase with a 'sell back .
Note - we have a place to keep your bike for you to make a few visits .
All visits should be planned at least a month in advance , along with air fares & transport .
Kiki and I just finished a New Years tour from LongAn Guangxi to Hainan Island . Pictures and more info coming .
Time to enjoy the winter sun , beaches and biking.. ... :scooter:.....Cheers
This would be interesting....any word on who these guys are or how to contact em'.Quote:
word is out a group of bikers from Shanghai heading down to Hainan for a spring bike camp after CNY,
Many of our immediate expat bikers are based in Shanghai and will ship their motor bikes down or get one down on Hainan . Most important is getting arrangements made { especially airfares & lodging } as soon as possible .
Also there is over 3 months of great winter biking here ...no need to cram all into the Chinese New Years ..
Get me a PM 'person message and will connect you with a Shanghai cyclist who may ride down , instead of shipping.....Cheers
